I did this to one of mine and after I think it was about 12 or 13,000 rounds it actually split in two. It was not molded with the intention that part of it would be cut off.
Same, I have had a dozen different Glocks, different calibers, and thousands of rounds on ranges/ tactical clinics. Never once has my hand been injured.
I have a G17 GEN 3 for home defense and carry a G26 GEN 5. Since I started using a higher grip, my shots have improved a lot, but sometimes a get these snake bites. On my G26 GEN5 I solved the problem using the beaver tail that comes from fabric, but there is no option for my G17 GEN3. Great to see this product. Gonna buy it right now. For those who say that never had snake bites, maybe you're hands are thin or you are just wasting a great chance to improve your grip. I know how to shoot with my hands high and not get a snake bite, but with a grip as high as possible, your shooting will improve a LOT, especially on fast sequences. Sorry for my english, I'm brazilian
I’ve never had slide bite from any gun I have ever used. That being said, I have had slight hammer bite from my 1911 from having a grip that was just exactly right for that. Having a slightly longer beaver tail on a Glock would very much help prevent slide bite if you’re prone to it.
My agency used Glocks for years and as a firearms instructor, I’ve never seen, or heard of, this issue with Glocks. Original 1911 and various other designs, sure, but not with Glocks. I guess if it’s a problem for a shooter, glad to know this is an option.
This tail extension is the main reason I ran the smallest grip extension, however I didn't really want to increase the pull to the trigger, I'll be ordering soon Lenny
Had one a dozen years ago for my duty G17 and liked it... until I collided with a metal door frame and it broke. If these will correctly mate with a PSA Dagger I may try one. Better yet, if they decide to make a mold for the PSA or other clones it might be attractive. For those who have never had a slide bite the web of your hands... you're lucky.
Lol, I had that problem with my g32 and I took one of the backstraps that came with the gun and I had cut it to make exactly what you guys are selling now. I did this 3 years ago.
Thank God these guys are back. I have several Gen 3 Glocks and lemme tell ya, the Chinese knock off grip force adapters suck ass. I thought these guys went outta biz. So happy they're back. I'll be picking up a few more. Grip Force Products - if you guys can come up with something for the G48 I'll get one.
Just got started on the 17 Gen3. Haven't put more than 2 boxes through it, and I have experienced this already. The problem is that it's not a superficial wound. It's a fast blow to a small, sensitive area on the hand, which makes this a distracting kind of sting. What makes it worse, I believe, is the oil/lube that's lining the slide rails. A microscopic amount is enough to severely irritate the wound and delay the healing process. For such a small wound, these "snake bites" will fck up your session at the range.
1st time I have nomenclature comment: A beaver tail on a pistol looks like a beaver's tail sticking out from the gun. Many 20th century semiautomatic pistols had them not only to protect from slide bite, it also protects from hammer bite. The very pronounced 1911 beaver tail is almost a work of art. Once you go to hammerless guns the problem is reduced. In the Glock with no hammer, less attention has to be paid to bite. The problem is lack of training and practice plus quick development. Of course hand size is a factor, and while my hands are bigger than average, yours are bigger and have more meat on them. The product is wonderful for protecting your hand
Not so much slide bite, more like "slide glide" where the slide runs across the web of the hand and leaves tracks of oil on the skin. I bought these Beaver Tails kits (2) for my Gen 4 Glock 22 several years back and like them. They are a bit flexible on the top but that hasn't been an issue so far. It did help with my grip and my accuracy did improve a little bit. Glad to see they've back.
Yes, my hands are XL and i use to get oil marks on my hand from the slide... I sent my two glocks (26 & 23) to an armorer that added the extra beaver tail approximately 20 years ago.. they are still running strong. I don't know how he did it but it was integrated into the glock grip.
My G47 came with these in the box and gives an even better grip feel on the gun itself. I'm assuming the market for this is for people who either lost theirs or are using an older gen of glock.
These aren't the backstraps that make the whole grip bigger. These are just the top half so you can add a beavertail to your frame. These are also compatible with Gen 3 models that don't have the MBS grooves like the Gen 4 and 5 have.
These are legit . I wish Glock would do like magpul and make a grip that comes with installable front and rear options ( dove tail , finger groves ... )
Perfection. But you need to add this now, change the plastic sights out of the box. Work on the trigger or replace it. And some even change the barrel. Luckily much better option out there.
When I was first learning how to draw from concealed, and was moving too fast trying to beat a range timer, drew my gun, was way too high on my grip and the slide racked back sliced my thumb so good thought I was going to need stitches... needless to say, that range day ended early.
Installed this on my gen 2 19. I’ve got meaty hands and this was perfect however it did move the trigger slightly farther from my finger which is the only thing I dislike.
I’m new to shooting, how common does bite happen and when it does how bad is it? By common I mean out of how many years or rounds shot do you get bit or get close. Is the bite injury the same as accidentally shaving skin off or is it like yanking a fishing hook out of you?
It's all avoidable through training, but sometimes it just happens especially when you're shooting faster and don't have time to regrip between shots. I'm a pretty new shooter, but I did experience my first slide bite after about 1800 rounds and it actually sliced and tore my skin and some flesh underneath. Every slide bite will be different but I usually do hear of blood and an open gash when it happens to someone.
I have huge bear paw hands with my 6’4 frame. I’ve carried Glocks since the 80’s, especially Glock 17’s. I’ve never ever once had slide-bite with any Glock.
@@RebelSoul318 Well not really, I don't follow this channel, it just shows up in my feed as I buy parts from the Glock Store for the 3 Glocks I own...........
My stepbrother made the mistake of wrapping his left thumb over the web of his right hand and learned not to do that with the first shot that took a good chunk out of the thumb knuckle closest to the web of his hand! I know that hurt! After that he actually listened closely to me explain how to grip the gun.
I jam the web of my thumb/finger into the beavertail. IDK how you could possibly grip the glock without knowing you're too high. It's insanely uncomfortable with the beavertail pushing into your hand instead of being on top of it.
Glock includes different sized backstraps that do the same thing. I guess that was designed for people with small hands, as that doesn't increase grip size.
I finally accepted that Glocks are the best pistols for maximum parts and magazine replacement economy, but God damn do these pistols leave a lot for want. Perhaps if they released the G46 in the US I'd like them more
Let me know when the maker finally decides to make these for the 43/43X/48 series, they are notorious for inducing slide bite. The full sized frames... not so much.
Went to look at some handguns today at Rural King. Every time the guy handed me the gun I cleared it, even after seeing him do it. He looked at me like I was crazy. Don’t get complacent people. Lol
I hope you and the family have a blessed Thanksgiving it has been nine months since I checked in Lenny, please forgive me brother. I always wanted to be a 'Glock Guy' but I am just too big. At 7'2 with a size 24 boot and a size 24 wedding ring and hands that are 14" wide, Glocks just don't fit my hand. I contacted Glock about making something my size, and they laughed at me !
Have you ever experienced "slide bite"?
Once...😂
nope i use the beaver options from glock works for me
Do you have them for the Glock 45 gen 5?
No, because I grip it properly. Many thousands of rounds shooting my Glocks and it's never happened.
No, but a guy next to me did. But he was shooting a Beretta. I gave him a bandage.
You can cut the beaver tail grip extensions that come stock to do the same thing.
The gen 3 doesn't come with any grip extensions or accessories, which is what is being discussed.
Jaegerwerks has a good video on how to do it clean. Gripping my 19.5 feels a lot better now 😂
I did this to one of mine and after I think it was about 12 or 13,000 rounds it actually split in two. It was not molded with the intention that part of it would be cut off.
I do that with all my Gen 5 Glocks that now only comes with 2 beaver tail adapters now.
Lenny, you are an awesome instructor! Thanks for all your videos, much appreciated!!!
I’m probably jinxing myself saying this, but it’s never happened to me before in over 10k rounds. 🤞
Not quite that many but me either. I don't have chubby hands either
Then you ain’t deep enough., and you’re not changing my mind either, that’s fact

Man I am so happy to see these again 😊
My dad's Glock 45 came with 3 different beaver tail extensions. He got bit pretty bad once and it took a chunk out of his hand.
That shit hurts so bad and takes a month or two to heal because of where the injury is.
I love mine. Really makes a difference of the feel of the gun in hand too.

I made one from one of the extra grip back straps on a gen 4. Cut it off right under the pin.
Great addition for the older models .

My 23 Gen 4 came with backstraps that have that feature. It was one of the first things I installed when I got the gun home.

I bought 3 sets from the San Diego store 5-6 years ago. Best 12-15 dollars ever spent.
I did get one of these about 10 years ago when I started working security and it actually makes for a better purchase on the weapon as well

Glock’s come with back straps, I had 2 or 3 in my G26/G19 box
Same. How is this different? I put mine on my G19G5 right away - came in the box.
not the gen 3 which is the only one on the CA roster... (Glock Store is in CA)
Yep my 1st time shooting a Glock 31 I got bit and it was worth it I bought after that sweetest G31 I had too

I cant imagine the sensation of my hand hair being sent with the ejected casing from being caught in the slide 😂

I honestly did not know that was an issue for people shooting glocks. Everyones hands are different I guess❤
Do a video on your training dvd's. They are great I have all of them! New viewers may not have heard of them....
? Do these fit p 80% frames? It sure be nice ifin they do. Lot of folks would really appreciate that. Thanks for the heads up on these.
I've had the snakebite. LOL. First time I ever shot the gun. Right in front of the firearm instructor. Ouch. The instructor says "don't do that".
I’ve never heard of slide bite issues with Glocks
I've only ever gotten slide bite once, and it was also the first time I ever shot a gun
I only get mag bite which kind of sucks with anything shorter than a g17 grip lenth. Mind you I have extra large hand size
Yes, once, glock 19. I learned pretty quick. Does not feel good.
The best accessory to avoid snake bite from your Glock is the Smith & Wesson M&P pistol!
Okay, you want to sell it...I want to buy it. You're out of stock. Do they make it for the 43X MOS?
Lenny can we see the thing from the side a little bit to see how it looks at least?
