I've always liked Ed Diaz. He makes every keyboard Roland easy to learn how to program it. He's better than the manual

Ed Diaz's review is the always the best for any Roland synth.
He's a salesman and this is a sales video. An advertisement.
He is hiding:
1) The # of ZenCore sounds
2) The # of Supernatural sounds
3) The polyphony
4) The waveform ROM
5) The cost of expansions
6) The lack of aftertouch
7) The alternatives (softsynths, DAW's, plug-ins, boards from Yamaha, Kurzweil, Korg, Nord, etc etc.
In the big picture, there's much more that he's not telling you, than what he is telling you. And that's intentional. The whole idea of Roland's marketing with this board is Roland wants you to deceive yourself into thinking you're getting 85% of a Fantom for 50% of the price.
Once you own it, and play around with it a while, you realize you either need a Fantom or thousands of dollars of expansions, softsynths and plug ins
Ed is a product specialist. Not someone there to misinform you. He has been with the Company a long time. If you've got something to say - take it over to his page and make an enquiry. If he is able to answer within the boundaries of what he's allowed to say; you can be sure he will.
Fantom-0 was not built to be a replacement for FANTOM. It's a lightweight compliment to it.
A lot of work is put in by the team to bring artists, producers, musicians and otherwise - a product suited to role; with their usage in mind. Nobody is trying to mislead you.
Please be respectful in future and do not misrepresent the intention of employees/staff. It's neither fair, nor called for. Thank you for understanding.

Thanks for this clarifying video. Knowing the difference between the O an its larger siblings was great. Many other videos were vague and too much promo! Thanks goes to Ed for giving straight answers.
Another note, they forgot to mention that this lacks the v-piano engine compared to its bigger brother in addition to some reduced i/o in the back of the unit.
@@fmagic2000able the O series is all about entry level and they should be up front. The other thing missing is a lot of the legacy sounds. By the time you pay for those individually, it's probably more expensive. Anyway, after paying for instruments for my kids while they were in highschool, $4K is not a major purchase.
I am always astounded by such stupidity. Not much point in beating around the bush. There is nothing 'entry level' about an instrument used and played in professional venues in front of tens of thousands of people. If you're this lacking in knowledge you shouldn't be giving 'tech opinions' to anyone.

DMPM just purchased the Fantom 0… Now we have the FA and the Fantom 0. Happy that Roland made a more portable and affordable workstation! Hopefully aftertouch will come in the update… if that’s possible to do.

Hi all i got the fantom g and am looking to back up the songs i have made into the new o series how to do this and retain full sound quality ?? my concern is sampling memory etc. can the thumb drive be used to save my songs from the g across to the o saved and then played back as mab an audio file per song? wit the G i can re sample a whole song and save this as a wav put on usb drive then plug to o ?? thanks steve

What is the actual prize for the Phantom 06 compared to the regular phantom 6or 7 that first came out.
Do you have any tutorial on how to setup Roland fantom 06 in Ableton? It's unfair to jump to advanced concept without addressing the basic one.
He says at 9:50 that it will work with other DAWS…(as an audio interface )… But will the screen work with those other daws too?

Hello ed. I have an important question. You say that fantom 0 can work with any daw. and also in midi. I know that midi is actually a connection between the computer and the keyboard, and to hear music you must associate the midi with plugins or vst. I have cubase software, I don't have Ableton nor pro tools. So how can I work with midi, if I don't have the plugins and vst of the fantom o sounds? Or am I missing something, and maybe the fantom o can send the plugins to cubase, or to any daw? I have to understand that.

Jupiter 8, Juno 106, JX8P and SH 101 expansions don't come with the Fantom 06, 07, 08. So what does it come with for emulating classic synths?

Can you use an external midi keyboard to control the fantom?? For example, I have a fantom0 61 keys and I want to use a different midi keyboard with 88 keys, can I still make a scene where the midi keys is always a piano sound and the 61 keys will change?? Can it be done??
Yes. You can do this with any Fantom, and the Juno DS

The problem with this piano is that it doesn't have V piano sounds and it doesn't have after touch. I was going to buy it but I decided on montage 6 which has better piano sounds than Fantom 0.

I had been seriously considering the Kurzweil PC4-7. Should I look instead at the Fantom 07 instead? Hmmm…
Kurzweils are nice boards...but the display screens are smaller, too much menu-diving, slightly less physical controls, no audio recording and not much in the way of PC integration. Kurzweils are geared more for live gigs....whereas Roland excels at both live and studio use.
@@HighlandStudio91 less physical controls? Are you sure? Kurz has aftertouch and 9 faders/sliders to the 0’s 8 sliders & no after touch (unless you by an additional expression pedal)...then every Kurz has all the same surface controls thereafter. What can you add to back your claim?Did I miss something?🤷🏾♂️
@@truthmanifestingtruth In addition to the Fantom's pitch & mod wheels, there's also a pitch/mod lever that is located just to the left of the key-bed. This is important(at least to me)....did you ever try using the pitch & mod wheels on the top of the keyboard while you are playing? A very awkward situation, as it hinders performance.

Are the synth keybeds as horrible as the MODX’s?..cheap noisy plastic?..I get keeping the price point low but felt dampening isn’t that expensive
they are comparable, it's a basic synth action keybed
I own modx 6 and fantom 07. The Fantom 07 keys are way better. Modx 6 is one of the cheapest feeling I’ve had in a long time. It was a bad place to cut cost imho.
Being a previous owner of the MODX7, the keybed was my primary concern. There is a better feel on the 07. I love it.

Yeah, it really looks like a sales gimmick to trick you into thinking your getting something better than it actually is… I almost preordered one, I’m glad I’m doing some research… and the weight of it, light is cool, but it seems like it’s sacrificing a ton possibly…. And they don’t really go into the details of the keys which is I’m sure where all the savings went…

Nitpicking are we??? I mean it may NOT meet everyones needs... But for the live keyboard players this is a dream come true!!! Just add your synth of preference to this and you're rocking!!!
"6,000 sounds, right out of the box"....6,000 presets, really? According to Roland's product page, the are 3,500 factory sounds. Perhaps with the free libraries available for download, that might add up to 6,000...but right-out-of-the-box, it's 3,500.

These are dirt cheap though. If you want the metal build and aftertouch, you can pay $2k more and get the Fantom series.
I had a used Roland Fantom 8 for a few hours. I had to return it because an entire bank of buttons didn't work and I didn't have four grand for a new one. Having owned one for a short period of time, I completely understand why one would rather have the flagship model.
Crazy. My 28 year old Roland JW-50 has aftertouch. Why in the world would the Fantom 0 series not have it…
Less than 20 pounds yeah listen when he says one of the big differences is the build quality… no way I’d order this without actually seeing it, I imagine it feels super cheap… I’m really concerned about the quality of the keys now…
after doing research on reverb and eBay, fantom is overpriced and underpowered when compared to Yahama and Korg top models. Fantom are selling used and much cheaper prices too not holding their value.
I won't try and account for the accuracy of what you're saying - however you need to account for the target market and the purpose of the device. Fantom itself is very powerful in its own right. The central Zencore system if you like. It's certainly a very demanding engine, which is why some users may feel it's 'underpowered' in certain use cases on the lighter model.
The price point brings with it well documented reductions in numerous places (over the flagship) which can only be expected for the price. Perhaps the issue is that people don't need what they think they do - and sometimes do need, what they don't have. The Korg and Yamaha models are often much clearer in their target audience and vice versa, people know what they are looking for within them.
That may then result in the impression that it is not as valuable. It is however likely a misunderstanding in presentation and an idea that they are getting a Fantom at a cheaper price. If you fully understand the flagship you can see that this isn't quite accurate and unfortunately some limitations on the board will disappoint people. But that can fully be avoided with a little pre-purchase research. For it's target user - I think most of them will find it offers quite a bit.
Every synth with an a/c adaptor isn't the best sounding synth.
