I don't know if you'll see this but I have to say it, 17 minutes worth 100 slides of my lectures I was seriously struggling with this stuff dude can't tell you how much this video helps! Definitely subscribed, I think this might actually save my life lmao
I’m a third year med student and I keep these important subject fresh in mind thanks to books and videos like this one. Keep it up! Love pharmacology & mechanisms of action
There seems to be some questions regarding alpha-1 stimulation in the kidney, and I might have made a mistake. Alpha-1 receptor stimulation in the kidney does not directly cause the inhibition of renin release. Instead, it indirectly leads to renin release. Alpha-1 receptor activation causes vasoconstriction in renal blood vessels, which reduces renal blood flow and glomerular filtration rate (GFR). The decrease in GFR triggers a compensatory response that includes an increase in renin secretion. So, alpha-1 receptor stimulation ultimately promotes, rather than inhibits, renin release in the kidney.
Please pin this comment so people can see it on the top section! I was trying to wrap my mind around why renin would be inhibited in a fight or flight situation but I'm glad I'm not crazy lol
This was just so extremely helpful during my last days of review for my surgical boards. Thank you, the graphic depiction, the pace and the wording makes this very easy to understand. Great job.
you have no idea how amazing teacher you are . I wish you were teaching at our college. Just couldnt wrap my head around ANS. Thanks to you. YOU JUST SAVED MY FINALS GOD. THANK YOU, YOU ARE THE BEST!!!!!
Thank you very much from a second semester, nursing student. I know there are certain classes that people dread (pharmacology, anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, microbiology). But for me, if I can visualize the concepts into some sort of story, I'm golden. Thanks for helping me be able to visualize this.
I was having a hard time understanding the difference between epinephrine and norepinephrine. It's always been explained to me in a complicated way and it turns out the difference is so simple. Thank you for breaking it sown for me!
So useful, thank you. No wonder I was confused as to why clonidine was being prescribed when I was working as a nurse at an inpatient psych unit, then also for hypertensive patients in the ICU as a drip. Very informative!
Amazing, I truly can't thank you enough. You truly have a gift of explaining things, and I think it's because you focus on categorizing and briefly explaining distinctions and their clinical indications. Showing my support by becoming a Patron.
I am PHARM-D student 2nd proff right now. I can't thank you enough for this explanatory video. Pharmacology has been tough for me especially ANS RECEPTORS. Books were not helping either. But now Thanks to you it is easy for me to study. Please keep up this Good work. May Allah bless you with the success and honor. AMEEN.
Hi, I will study second year pharmacy at Strathclyde University and I have heard that it is a intensive course so I am trying to find a RUclips channel that is related to pharmacy but I don’t know how to choose the suitable one. Could you please help me with this? Thank you
I'm an electrical engineer learning about my anxiety & adhd, and this video has been very helpful in understanding the functionality of propranolol. Thank you! Keep it up
2nd year pharmacy student here. Finals in a month and I DID NOT LISTEN TO A SINGLE WORD IN MY LECTURES LET ALONE MAKE NOTES. AND THIS 17 MINS VIDEO IS GONNA HELP ME CLEAR MY EFFING COURSE 😭💗💗
Everytime I start reading this chapter, I become so frustrated. Then I come to your channel and you make it feel so easy. Can't thank you enough for summarising such a vast content in this 17 mins video. I feel I was wasting my time trying to follow those huge Pharma books.
Idk where to start but your videos have made it by far to be the best videos of explaining this course, you have saved about weeks of teachers explaining in their nonsense way and making things harder, thanks for all the time and effort you put in
I had to take a medical leave, but they were kind enough to let me return 2nd semester. I'm grateful, but definitely need refreshers. My BP was 200/100 when I left, I lost some memory. Thanks for these easy to follow videos. 🙌🏿
Thanks a lot. It's true you made this easy. Initially I was struggling with it, but now I can even sing a song about actions of receptors when stimulated and sympathomimetits. Thanks
@Speedpharmacology Thanks for making such good lectures. They are really helpful. I want to make a correction. According to lippincot 6th edition B-2 receptors increase release of glucagon not the insulin
I don't know how to thank u as ur vedios are a savior to pharmacology!!! At first while I read my books everything seems to be loaded and at end nothing retained... But when I started seeing your vedios things got staying in my mind, it's because the way u jotted down the stuffs so clearly and also your animations all saved me !!!!!! Thank u to tonss for helping us with your valuable lessons.. Really this is indeed a speed pharmacology yet contained all the needed Info!!
You are a great lecturer with profound knowledge of computer tools and great sense of humor which makes the subject easy to understand and follow. Thanks for doing it.
Thank you! I always appreciate your videos, they helped me along my pharmaceutical studies and now I am studying for my finals, this topic was my nightmare and as soon as I watched this video I forgot why I was so anxious about it. You made my studies lot easier and I am so grateful for that. :)
I always take the slides and try to group the informations given. I spent like hours and hours just to group 20 slides to make it simplier until i found this channel. saved my time thank you everything is so grouped and simplified.... appreciate
Thank you very much. Beautifully explained and the level of details is perfectly balanced. I’ve never been so confident in adrenergic pharmacology as I am now.
As much as i know and have researched thoroughly about,(please correct me if i am wrong)Alpha 1 adrenergic receptors are not found on kidney to reduce renin release.Beta 1 however are present on JG apparatus to increase renin release because in fight or flight situation u need RAAS to constrict ur blood vessels and aldosterone to retain water and salts in case you bleed.Alpha 1 are however found on blood vessels going to kidney to constrict them so less urine is formed in emergency situation.Overall good video.thank you so much
M nursing student from india Thanku for ur vedio they are really very very helpful ...... Plzz make vedios on miscellaneous durgs i.e immunosuppresent, vitamin, vaccins, emergency drugs etc etc
For those confused, urinary detrosor muscles relax or expand, while the urinary sphincter constrict. Resulting in urine retention and the lack of urge to urinate.
Can you please make videos on the various transport systems such as ligand gated, g-protein coupled etc.. in the body. And also, keep up with the good work, you're doing an amazing job in enlightening many minds!!
Praise Jesus! You broke this thing down... Sometimes this is what is needed... No matter how HIGH we have become. THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY ❤! I needed this.
i was getting tensed how to undrstand adrenergic agonists but thanx to uh ....uh made it simple....nyc job dr.keep it up...add more videos...its very helpful....thankuu again
Holy crap, this video is so freaking awesome! I love this shit. Presentation and quality are unrivaled, and I've never seen this much solid info in one place!
I am doing a write up on the effect of norepineprine on the rabbit jejunum. Your videos just made everything clear. Thanks so much for this quality content
Thank you so much for the explanation..it made me so easy in understanding... I always watch ur video..when I study pharmacology... it's been so much helpful... thank you
Wow this is an amazing video, it helps me to study for my exam. But, can I ask you a question? You said that beta 2 receptor is responsible in increasing insulin... but from what I know that it's increasing glucagon level instead. And that's why beta blockers can be causing hypoglycemia. Can you explain it? In other word, is salbutamol or formoterol can cause hypoglycemia?
Beta-2 adrenergic agonists can cause insulin release from the pancreas, and at the same time they can also stimulate glycogenolysis in the liver, which can lead to hyperglycemia.
Very nice and brief recall of adrenergic drugs. Thank you for the awesome lecture but it needs one more correction that the B2 receptor increases glucagon secretion and hence increases glycogenolysis.
thank you so much i am very much enthusiastic towards ur videos, which improved my knowledge could you please make a video about hematological agents i am very much confused
Thank you very much for your superb video and explanation, however I have to add only 1 tip about EPHEDRINE, where you say its rarely use in clinical practice, well ephedrine is very common used in the perioperative setting very much to prevent hypotension during anesthesia induction and during hypotension for spinal anesthesia, this is a drug that every OR around the globe MUST be in the drugs repertory.
Vasoconstriction of vascular smooth muscle during a sympathetic response is not to reduce bleeding. Instead, it's to limit blood circulation to internal organs and redistribute blood towards muscles.
