Story
In the past, the many races of Hyrule lived together in harmony, the Sheikah's blue aura providing life to the land, and everyone benefited from the Sheikah's advanced technology. That all ended when a beast that came to be known as Calamity Ganon appeared. The Hero and the Princess attempted to stop the evil, but the Hero ultimately failed. As they helped the Princess see to the Hero's injuries, the Sheikah, as a last resort, awakened an army consisting of four divine beasts and a massive amount of mechanical guardians, that they had created in secret. They managed to seal Calamity Ganon inside Hyrule Castle, but during the battle, the monster's power turned their army against Hyrule, and out of fear, the King of Hyrule and his people banished the Sheikah from the land.
In the present, an amnesiac Link awakens from a deep sleep, as a mysterious female voice guides him to the now ruined kingdom of Hyrule. He meets an old man and learns that Calamity Ganon has been sealed in Hyrule Castle for one hundred years. Although trapped, Calamity Ganon has continued to grow in power, and Link must defeat it before it breaks free and destroys the world.
Gameplay
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild departs from most games in the The Legend of Zelda series, as it features an open-world environment twelve times larger than the overworld in Twilight Princess, with less emphasis on defined entrances and exits to areas. Similar to the original The Legend of Zelda, the player is placed into the game's world with very little instruction, and is allowed to explore freely at their own pace.
Players control Link, who can jump and climb almost any surface, and can find various items in the world, including weapons, shields, clothing, and food that can be eaten or cooked to restore health. Weapons break after excessive use, but many have multiple uses; for example, tree branches can be used to light fires, and shields can be used as makeshift snowboards. Throughout the game, Link possesses a piece of technology known as the Sheikah Slate, which provides players with a map and allows Link to create waypoints and investigate enemy stats. By discovering various runes, the Slate can be upgraded with various powers, including creating bombs, controlling magnetic objects, and stopping time around objects and enemies. Players keep track of both main and side quests given to them through the use of a quest log, which is called an Adventure Log within the game. If the player fulfills certain conditions, they will unlock an alternative ending of the game.

Usually people don't actually speak in the Zelda games. Ambient sounds are made and expressive sounds like grunts or exhaling but actual speech usually doesn't happen

I know this was posted almost three years ago and I'm only just now getting around to watching a playthrough of BOTW, but I just wanted to say that your heartfelt introduction earned you a subscriber who knows EXACTLY how you feel!
God, you really gotta appreciate the detail and complexity this game offers.
For example, during the fight with the bokoblin at 10:50 , the bokoblin gets knocked down and drops its weapon. After Link picked up the weapon, and the bokoblin rose from the ground, The bokoblin noticed.

I feel the exact same thing about Zelda. Its more than a game. The story, the graphics.... I can't even describe how beautiful it is. I've played it since I was a kid and I almost cry too.
You can pass the cold area by going to the hut of the old man around the starting area and finding his memo on the table where he lists his recipt for cooking warming food. If you make that food and eat it, you can withstand cold.
Or just cook the spicy peppers.

Yeah, I just started playing yesterday after giving up on it for over a year and this helped me got further than I did on my own. Although, I threw the wood cutting axe over a cliff in the beginning of the game by accident when I was trying to figure out the controls AHAHAHA.

you could also make the Old Mans recipe and get rewarded the warm doublet before going up the mountsin and not have to worry about food at all except youd have that meal

Don't go directly to the snowy area. First go north and talk to the Old Man. There's a quest to make Spicy Meat and Seafood Fry. If you make this for him he will give you a tunic that is resistant to frost. To make the food, you need spicy peppers(random shrubs), raw meat(Boars), and bass (Lake NW of Temple of Time).

I didn't say I don't like the video, the content is enjoyable because I love The Legend of Zelda as a series and as individual games, but Tetra is not playing particularly well in this video series. I think many, many people could do far better, including Tetra himself, and that he's just rushing and not giving his all, which I find super frustrating.

Bought this last Thursday. I know its YEARS later but it is also the week I got myself the switch. The Legend of Zelda takes me back to when I first fell in love with the series. Great game!

What's a Boost? Ever heard of a campfire? This always triggers me when people complain about rain, there's almost always something you can hide under to place a campfire. You can also whistle sprint up most mountains, and revali's gale helps give you a really really good start. Go live in the gerudo desert

I have way too many hours in this game, I already have all the shrines. I'm also a speed runner (I still have a lot of room for improvement but I'm not bad) and I've been trying to get atleast half the korok seeds. I am also trying to beat all the over world bosses, lynels are a favorite to hunt.
280 hours into this game, and not because I'm hiding from the rain, because I don't need to. I already told you, revali's gale, whistle sprinting, and even lvl4 climbing gear all helps tremendously. Rain never troubles me, the only thing I don't like about it is that it makes it harder to see

wouldn't that sound kinda goofy? Different voices would affect the fluidity of the story, and also give the characters "personalities". If the whole game is like this, with one character speaking at a time, I think it's better to just hear it narrated like he did on some parts of the video.

I just bought this game for $40 and I'm so glad I did, but also glad I'm not the only one botching the controls when it comes to weapons or whatever the case. It makes me feel better. Thank you.
It's good playthrough but only thing I don't like are the jump cuts you make. I love to see you walk everywhere even if it takes a bit of time to get to the destination. But I really don't like when you're off walking to somewhere and suddenly you jump cut to that place.

I've been playing just as long as this guy; I started with a Game Boy and Super Mario Land. I haven't missed a single great AAA release in all that time, so there's no critically-acclaimed game you can mention that I haven't played, I can guarantee it.
And my gaming experiences peaked in the mid to late nineties when I played these three games: Final Fantasy 6, Final Fantasy 7 and Half-Life. They have been my top three games ever since then, nothing has come close to knocking them off the top spots. I've played some incredible games since then, so many great games. But nothing to compete with the top three of FF6 and 7 and Half-Life...
...Until 2017, when I played BOTW. I can honestly say it's the most wonderful game I have ever played in my long life as a gamer.
I didn't think it was possible for a game to make me feel the same as I did when I was a kid. I think BOTW is the greatest game ever made.

I like how the art work is the best of skyward sword and wind waker.
A little more Wind Waker (which normally I don't mind), but I kind of hoped it'd be a cross between Skyward Sword and Twilight Princess.
Cooking the peppers will create strength and heat. Great back up plan if the torch is not light up.
Honestly, 60% of my album on my switch is just beautiful scenery shots from BOTW. (The other % is stuff from bendy and I have one shot from Minecraft since it was the old villages not the new 1.14 villages

I remember playing windwaker, twilight princess, and skyward sword when I was a kid. It really brings back memories. I’m 18 now and I just started playing twilight princess on my girlfriends wii. It’s fucking awesome. It’s weird seeing the character actually talk now without them just making weird noises and reading subtitles😂

Nintendo wanted to make the game free roam like the original legend of Zelda’s. When 3D games started coming out it became difficult.

The depth in this game is crazy! You know the cold area? Well if you go and raid the Old Man’s house and read his diary (lol), he talks of a Spicy Meat and Fish Fry soup he likes. He later says that he noticed you looked through his diary but isn’t mad, he says he’ll give you clothes that’ll allow you to survive the cold if you can come up with the recipe to the meal since he’s forgotten. So spicy meat is Spice and steak and a simple bass from a pond, you make it in the cooking pot then show him it. He asks for the recipe, and then gives you a tunic that you can wear with cold resistance. Honestly amazing game with stuff in it I imagine most people won’t ever do, but it’s there for the few that do.

I see it somewhat similar with Skyward but not with Twilight Princess

Again, darker atmosphere doesn't make darker world.. if you say that Twilight Princes is more creepy then Majora Mask then you make my lough. But even in case of more colorful games then tend to have some seriously fucked up elements, when Twilight Princes not so much or lat say is average in that.
