    Excellent video, could have been here before. Finished preparing one and now starting a second WJ from a friend. Will upload videos in a couple of days to share experiences. Will keep watching your improvments.

    Great WJ I bought a 2001 Ltd and plan on lifting it about 4" but was told it would have death wobble.
    Also buying a second WJ to make an Overland trailer to match my rig with main unit having the galley and WJ trailer the sleeping quarters.
    Great videos...

      Hi Gary
      Thanks, the WJ has been a project for a little over a year now, I could do a lot more on her but I've got to spread out the funds on the other Jeeps. Over all I'm really pleased with the performance on the WJ.
      I don't know who told you about getting death wobble if you lifted it, but they are wrong. You will not get death wobble simply by lifting it. Death wobble is generally caused by worn components, track bars, ball joints, etc.. even worn unbalanced tires may induce death wobble. I got death wobble before I lifted my WJ, I put on the IronRock Offroad 4" critical path lift myself, haven't had it since.
      I'm very interested in seeing some pic's/videos of the trailer, sounds pretty cool.
      Anyway thanks for subscribing,

      The Average Joe's of Arizona. Thanks for the reply! Either way I will put on a long arm suspension kit plus replace any worn parts either way. I'll try to record my process and take a lot of pics. Money usually is an issue for most but once Jeep is in the blood it remains. Keep up the good vids.

    Bumper looks cool like that

      Thanks, I would like to do it right and put on a good aftermarket bumper but options for the WJ are limited, and expensive, so looks like that will be something done later.

      Thanks, I got to go back and smooth out the edges, plus trim some of the metal off to get better tire clearance.

    What’s your suggestions on installing the IRO spring retainers? I’m running there critical path long arms

  • @doylenickless2377
    @doylenickless2377 4 года назад +1

    How did you fasten down the rear brake hose and E-Brake cables once you swapped out the factory A-Arm for the IRO? I also have that IRO A-Arm kit on my WJ but I have not figured out the best way to secure those -- for those interested, on a stock WJ that brake line and cables fasten to the stock A-Arm with brackets and bolts. But the IRO A-Arm doesn't supply mount points for those, so with the new A-Arm installed they just "hang" there suspended between the frame and the ground. IRO's instructions say to zip-tie them. That doesn't strike me as a proper long-term solution.

    Sorry, what is your ground to fender measurment? Or rather: your hub to fender measurement? I want to mount the 4" critical path suspension in germany (TÜV!!), with the 265/70-17 on 7,5x17 overland hammerhead rim´s. best regards.

    Nice job! I just did an 02 with 4 inches all around and came out great, about to do another one, but with the v8 like yours. Have a Question about your rear tire carrier, your own? or did you get it somewhere? thanx!

    • @theaveragejoes4x4
      @theaveragejoes4x4  2 года назад +1

      Its an HK Offroad Kratos tire carrier, I love it, and the company is great with customer service issues! Check out the video I did on initial install.

    Really nice... but , Hmmm...could have trimmed it leaving there the fog lights , no ?

    • @theaveragejoes4x4
      @theaveragejoes4x4  6 лет назад +1

      I guess I could of did that but I didn't like the looks of those fog lights, plus the trim was easier to do by eliminating them.

    change your gearing at all?

    • @theaveragejoes4x4
      @theaveragejoes4x4  6 лет назад +2

      No, in fact I really haven't looked at that at all, got the rig about a year ago and really haven't researched what gears it has. But I haven't noticed any difference in power since going to the larger tires.

    R17 / 265 / 70 ??? Rubbing at 265 how about tyre 245 / 70 / R17 rubbing ???

    • @theaveragejoes4x4
      @theaveragejoes4x4  6 лет назад +1

      No rubbing during normal road driving, that said I have not had this out to any moderate or harder trails yet. I think I "might" have some minor rubbing during a full flex. Now that the weather is cooler here in AZ I'm hoping to get some time to get this out on a decent trail, I'll know more then.

    • @theaveragejoes4x4
      @theaveragejoes4x4  6 лет назад +1

      I should have been more clear, no rubbing after I trimmed the front fenders....

      @@theaveragejoes4x4 , I know this is an old comment but I'm working on a similar project and I could swear looking closely at the video that these tires are 285/70 R 17's. Am I correct?

      I noticed your front axle pokes out towards the driver side more. That may have been your issue with the rubbing. Maybe a track bar adjustment would fix you up.

    nice did you have to do anything with front driveshaft ?

    • @theaveragejoes4x4
      @theaveragejoes4x4  6 лет назад +2

      No I lucked out and it was the double cardine type, if it was a CV type I would have had to replace it.

      I'm sure you have seen this before but just in case... If you leave the caps on when typing 4X4 it comes out as $X$, coincidence? I think not! LOL
