In this video we're discussing MORE things that we feel should be challenged more.

SUPERB SUPERB SUPERB! Your analysis is much appreciated and confirms what we've experienced but not formally analysed. It's great that you've created an ego-free environment where this sort of thing can be discussed rationally.

Always good to have advice. I'm right at the beginning of my e-bay journey. Transforming from a buyer to a seller. I have hundreds of good (and I mean good) items to sell... So where do I start? How do I muster the motivation to press the 'go' button? And what top tips do you have on how to create a successful business... Do I put up 10 items a week and build it up, or do I wack up 100's of items at the start and just keep adding? If I've got items that are worth a lot of money in the mix, where do I place them? Surely e-bay would be suspicious if my first 10 items included an Hermes wrap right? I'm pretty sure you're the man for this job Simon, so thank you in advance❤

Well, I'll try to answer that as best I can. To get started, focus heavily on why you're wanting to start, that's usually all the motivation you'll need. My top tips are understanding the Ts & Cs of eBay, that way as long as you follow them eBay will back you if you ever get in a tight spot. Regarding the listing, I can only say what I'd do which is to crack on with listing. Any hurdles you face during it all, find people that know what they're talking about and ask them (whether that's on IG, eBay themselves - choose wisely). For high value or specialist items, consider where else they can be sold before putting all your trust in eBay. Things do go wrong and it's just about weighing up the risk.
You can also speak with eBay about lifting selling limits, they are pretty good and in my experience ask a few questions about what you intend to sell.
I’ve not been in your situation exactly, so the only other advice I can offer really is to trust your instincts, if something doesn’t feel right, pause and consider your options. All the best!

@@Married2Reselling Thanks for this Simon. Much appreciated. Kids have left home leaving so much 'too good to give away' stuff behind. I compulsively buy, so no shortage of absolute gems. I don't work so it's a bit of a no brainer. Any encouragement is fabulous. Thank you for taking the time👍❤️

I thought the item became stale after 9 months, not 90 days? 😊

Nick and Andrea Hills put a video up about stagnant listings, after a certain amount of time, if a listing doesn't get any views, it becomes stagnant and doesn't show up or is very low on the search results.
So if you have listings that are very old, some one would have to scroll down the search results for ages to find your listing or if they click on a item of yours that's high in the search results, then go into your store and find something they like " old / stagnant " listings, then you might get the sale. I think maybe that's how you hot these sales you are showing in this video.
I love your content and am not trying to offend in anyway.
    Just my point of view.
Keep up the great work and I wish you many many more great sales. Look forward to your next video.
I'm new to reselling, not even a year into it yet. But have learnt some much watching content from guys like yourselves.

No worries at all, everyone’s perception of reasoning behind certain things is different. I’ve not seen any data to back that up, certainly not the case with our listings (they are searchable). If you sell products with loads of competition (eg video games or something), then being lower down the search won’t help, but keen pricing and promoted listings alleviate that issue.

Nice vid thank you for taking a more analytical view rather than general voiced opinions and you are correct I sell many items that have been on listed for longer than 90 days. Maybe I read the page view graphs incorrectly but the promoted item page views were not as high as i would expect for my money in fact on some items they were totally outclassed by organic. I know I'm generally not convinced about promoting items (return v cost) but your page view counts have added to my scepticism as to promoting's value for money.

Thanks, gotta go with the data, not a rumour. We promote at quite a high rate, so that probably affects our views in terms of the proportion of organic vs paid. Glad this video helped in some way.

Another great vid! But I thought listings renewed after 30 days automatically and if a free is due it’s still charged…I thought the whole 90 day thing was about selling similar to give it a boost? I don’t think eBay will ever hide listings after 90 days, hence some still selling, but they are right at the bottom of the deck..?

    • @Married2Reselling
      @Married2Reselling  2 месяца назад

Yes, the allowance is used, or fee charged after 30 days, whichever applies. You’re right, ebay doesn’t hide or kill listings after 90 days, as proved here.

Interesting stats on the numbers of impressions. One stat worth looking at is what percentage of your sales in a week is from recently listed stuff - I did this a few yrs back and 80% of my week's sales were listed in the previous month - so from that I've always assumed that the best chance of selling something is in the first month

    • @Married2Reselling

👍 definitely, and your goal is to buy stuff that sells and you’re experienced in your sourcing. Our best stuff always gets picked off first.

Thought from the title this was a critique of the orange ape over the pond ! 😅 Love the varied nature of your listings.Much to be said for shop variety rather than monoculture items.

Interesting. One suspects that if people are looking for/at something, how long it has been on is less important than that it's there and correctly described.

Interesting stuff, I have always been a 90 day end and relister before the item ticks over into a new 30 day cycle. One thing to note from your page views that they mostly have a spike around the 90 day mark which ties in with the theory that your items get a boost then.

Could it be when the listing renews. But the views and sales continue long after 90 👍

Just to add - a lot of the page views seem to be promoted views after 90 days… can’t see eBay not giving items views when your paying promoted..

I thought the video was going to be something about fact checking a conjecture by Donald J Trump LOL. I was wondering what he could have said about selling old tut on eBay 🤣🤣🤣🤣 🤡. I’m glad it wasn’t actually that. (And I do realise there should have been an apostrophe if that was the case, but not everybody uses them 😂)
