I really don't understand how someone can make a loss on selling items at £10 that they paid £2 for! i make a profit selling items for £2! - i mainly sell collectables and some of these are £1k each but equally i sell a lot of things for £2 and upwards, everything i sell i make a profit even if only low and it soon adds up! i really wouldn't be taking advice from someone that can make a profit with a £10 sale!

if you can't make a profit from £2 and sell for £10 then the person is doing several things very wrong and has no idea what they are doing.

Please dont hate me but from my point of view its an absolute waste of my time to list anything under £15.

My items are usually higher value items, but let’s face it those small items all add up. I recently brought over 40, tea towels for £30, I sold each of them for £4.99 plus P&P, easy to pack, no breakables. Probably made £3.50 each. Low value items can pay off and all add up. As a reseller as long as I make a profit I look at it as a win. Obviously my high value items are worth my time. Also great to see items not going into landfill.

Great video, I agree job lots are the way to go. It’s hard to lose money if you buy a large cheap lot of varied stuff. Although I prefer to sell smaller items than you do 😅 eg weird curios. Like you I put a job lot code and amount paid in my SKU, I thought I was the only one! I keep a record of what sells from each lot, and once profit exceeds what the lot cost, future items from that lot cost me zero (or as Nick Hills says they owe me nothing) and I stop keeping track. Lots can reach profit very quickly. Though it’s a bit of a pain keeping track of the totals.

Repeat buyers are great because they're more likely (a 1 month cut-off I think) to not buy through Promoted, and I suspect would be far less likely to leave bad stars/feedback. Obviously, the ideal is multiple purchase for the same consignment 🙂

Hi, firstly thank you for your honest videos. Buyer asked me to delay posting as away in holiday, upon their return as per there request I posted said item, the buyer left good feedback reflecting speedy despatch and delivery, HOWEVER Ebay have given me a defect for late delivery, I have spoken to them to appeal this, I have all the messages from the buyer to prove it but Ebay flatly refuse to amend it. 9 years as top rated seller with a shop means nothing to Ebay

Thanks for another Bubble Wrap video - It prompted me to measure the roll we had just received from Amazon - the 100m roll actually measured about 60m. I have raised a complaint with Amazon and left VERY negative feedback but have no faith that anything will change. Thanks for the video, info and code. I've been buying from Schott on ebay for ages. This weekend I paid £25.90 for 2 rolls at 500mm x 100m each roll, free post. For some reason they don't offer rolls at 500mm x 100m on their website. If I buy 4 rolls at 500mm x 50m, that would be the same size purchase but would work out more expensive even with the code. What am I missing here?

Thanks for the info re: postal costs. Maybe best not to enter item dimensions/weights at all so they have nothing to go on ? No chance I'd continue selling on Ebay if I can't avoid this "Simple delivery" nonsense. I suspect it would only be inflicted for those categories where they have to compete against Vinted, & I'm not in that lot.

selling something for £4+post ... considering the Ebay fees, pkging materials, time spent photo-ing & listing, also label-printing/packing/handling time etc ... couldn't justify it for a one-off item. Only multiple identicals work really for such low profit levels *for me*. Otherwise it's just a "labour of love" & into the realms of the "hobby seller" to my mind. Maybe you can streamline the listing/packing time ? Also with one-off items, can be difficult with medium-t large items to source cheap & secure packaging material And you have a proportion of Ebayers making stupid enquiries/offers etc to eat in to your time. And the returns, scammers to factor in. I even bought a load of identical new items for £2 each, & even when selling for £10 delivered through Ebay, I ended up losing out due to fees, P&P, returns, & the time taken to photo, list, pack, despatch, deal with enquiries.

I’ve always found eBay seller protection to be essentially non-existent i’ve been caught out twice in the 16 years I’ve been on there. The first time was awhile ago and ended up losing out quite heavily. I sold a Chainsaw for £500 posted it the buyer then said that it was faulty. He then initiated the returns process he chose not to use the eBay returns label and put Next doors address on the return label so it eventually arrived the man had automatically been refunded by eBay on opening the parcel. I found 3 knackered video recorders.. at that time I probably had about 700 feedback at 100% 40% of them for sales he had about 30 feedback one of which being positive that read as a negative for exactly the same trick he played on me eBay we’re not interested and refuse to do anything. The other time was a guy swapping parts and sending the item back with his faulty parts on certain categories are much more vulnerable for that than others.

I had a return opened a few weeks ago on a spares repairs crown amp £250 sale, buyer opened a case as "arrived damaged" proceeded to send me pics of the bracket on the back a little bit bent but what he forgot to remove was the pair of pliers he used to damage it with were still in the picture he sent me, the bracket wouldnt affect the item whatsoever so he damaged to force a return so i recieve the return and to my suprise the item was missing the knobs and the fuse from within, called ebay and they saw the picture with the pliers and obviously said nothing they can do.

Ebay does not remove any unfair negative feedback and any performance defectives. If a buyer literally swear at you, ebay does not block them. Fed up with ebay. Appalling customer care too.
