Update: tried using a new power supply board and still having the same issue of the tv not turning on and light fading

I have the same model of vizo, the set would turn off or the picture would freeze, I became convinced the main board needed to be replaced. I replaced the main board. The set with the replacement board displayed the same issues as the old board. I then returned the replacement board and reinstalled the original board. I speculated the components were over heating. Viewing the back cover, I observed , what i considered very little ventilation for cooling. Prior to replacing the cover. I drilled 365 x 2 5/16" holes into the cover in the area of the circuit boards. This was 2 weeks ago and the set continues to preform fairly well. The smart TV portion of the set sometimes freezes when loading. Switching off the TV and turning it back on seems to cure this event. Recent update; The power board was replaced,( board purchased from Ebay ) Tv seems normal now except for the smart tv portion. This does not seem to function as well as it should. I am opting for using Roku instead of the installed smart tv option. Hope this helps

Thanks for the video. With your help I was able to narrow my D650I-B2's problem to the T-Con Board. I also Dremmeled out the IR window to make a better connection with the remote from a further distance. The hardest part of the fix was separating the back from the TV! yeesh! That thing was stubborn! Thanks!

If you have one as a main TV no matter what brand it would be a good idea to have spare circuit boards tucked away in your closet.
I can't get the bottom of the backing to unclip, it feels like it's gonna break. Any way to do this gently or tips?

Great Instructional video. I am having the same with my Vizio E Series where the power light comes on for a few seconds then fades off and nothing on the screen. I was wondering do you call Vizio directly to get the power board or another source and whats the price range for the power board? Thank you in advance.

We have a Vizio 50 inch also and just experience the screen go black! There is still sound and when you shine a flashlight on the screen there is still a slight image! Do you know if this is a main board problem or do we need to replace the backlights?

Where do you order parts from. How do you know they aren't faulty? I'm looking on Ebay and see power boards from $20 to $90
Exact same vizio model, exactly the same symptom, unplug wait a hour or so powers on fine. If you turn it off screen doesn't power up audio, hdmi and ethernet will pass through but not screen volt meter showed a slight difference in voltage.
Buying replacement power board betting that fixes it
I see you backlight came on with the little power light. Mine one day video went away and audio too few mins after. The power light comes on and goes a few secs later like its supposed to. I suspect its the main board for me since it has to do with audio video. I checked the power board it has no bad connections no bad capacitors or anything.
Is there anybway I can use a different powerboard from Vizio different model diff wiring? model (p502ui-b1e) board to (e470i-a0) ?? Thanks.

How do you remove the neck. I’ve taken every dang screw out of this tv and still can’t remove the back panel
Now my tv turns on just fine and everything works normal for a couple of minutes and then the screen goes dark but you can still here what your watching and even change channels. now is this still the power board or is there something else i need to replace?

Excellent video! I have a question. I have a VIZIO smart Tv 4k 50 inches, similar to the one on the video. It was working fine but now when I turn it on the power light blinks and stays on but theres no image on the screen. When I switch from Netflix to the VIZIO apps button you can see light change on the screen but no image or sound, what can that be?

My Vizio 55" model# M550vse The tv comes on & you see the Vizio emblem & then goes black. I tried the flashlight test & I cannot see anything! The audio still works. What do you think the issue is? Also, I had just turned the front vizio light off to preserve the bulb life so, when the tv comes on, the screen goes black & the light goes out because I turned it off a few days before the tv went out. Hi i watched your video on you tube and I'm having a very similar problem. I press the power button on the remote and white light on bottom of TV comes on then i get a flash of a blue screen with the Vizio logo on the tv then it goes black and the white light slowly dims and goes out. Sometimes it will turn on fine. Sometimes when the room is dark and you turn it on you can see the image under the black screen. I was just trying to pin point the problem a little better before i spent money on one of the boards. Not sure if its the power board, main board, or the tcon board. Thanks for any help you can provide.
My 60 inch vizo has a black screen with gray circles at the bottom is that the main board i replaced the t-co board still with black screen
I know it's my power board malfunctioning but I had a quick question. Sometimes the display dims before shutting off. I still use the the TV regularly but I often have to draw the power out of it then leave it off for a while. Is the power board the reason the display dims like that or am I having backlight issues as well?

I have a 50” Vizio D500i-b1, my apps stopped working a few months ago but, I was able to still use the tv with an android box. However, i turned it on one day the light indicating the power was on came on but the screen was black. I turned it off then on again and the light did not turn on again. Do you have any idea which board I need to replace? Also, I have had numerous power outages prior to this happening.
So I know I’m a year late but my tv started with a dimming screen and it would be at different parts like the top 6” until the whole thing turned black. I assume that’s the same thing
Hey whats up. My visio tv just took a shit. I was watching tv and the screen turned off but the sound was still playing. I saw that if i flash a flash light in the screen u can still see the image but if u take off the flaslight of u cant see anything. So what can this be. Ohh and the tv has been messing up for a while. It had like dark patches on the screen. Like if part if the screen was loosing power. This started happening last year but then it fixed itself. But now it had the dark patches and then the tv went dark. Im dissabled so i dont have money to buy another one. What can this be. And where can i buy the problem board

I just ordered the part because I have watched your video over ten times today and my tv is doing the same exact thing, but as I am waiting for it to be shipped I noticed that the optical port light in the back stays on even though the tv is "turning off." Do you know if that light is normal to be lit even though the TV is not actually turning on? Thanks!

Is that going to be the issue with a Vizio M3D420SR? I have my soldering station set up and ready to work on this, but before I go popping the tv open again I am wondering if there is a 16 pin connector in this model.
Hi can you confirm that it is nor dual voltage please? I have ordered one. On the back it says that 110-60hz. But I heard that Vizio tvs are dual voltage, they just do it to avoid extra charges

I got the same model with the same issue... dam thing was 800 buck's...only lasted about a year...when I try to power it on the led lite comes on and goes off in 2 secs then when I try to power it up a second time the led stays on for at least 8 to 10 sec but no picture at all. Do you think my power board is shot?

I have the same issue with my m502. my power distribution board is not powering on the tv. I have no led. tv was on and I shut it off. now it won't turn on again. power cycling doesn't work. my power board 5v pin has 5.1v, 12v pins have 11.63 - doesn't seem right, also the 24v pin only has 19.8 volts. I think the issue is within the power board.

Have a E50-C1 Vizio tv was watching tv one day and went to a blank screen.tv has power and turns on and off correctly also the backlights work basically a blank screen but has the sounds hook same hdmi cords upto another tv works fine.any idea what board or what may be the issue before I take it off the wall and take it apart thanks

Hi I have the same model Vizio E500i-B1. Problem : Some time it works normally with picture and audio and than some time I do not get picture but do get audio. If I leave it power off for 8-10 hours it works normally again till I switch it off. Would you be able to advice if this could be a problem with power board or main board.
Piyush Choudhary It could possibly be the Main Board/ or T- Con Board I would start with the T-Con Board because of the fact you get audio the T-Con Board is what controls the image

need some help....I bought a TV off a Buddy and.he told me that it only had audio . And it turn on but you would have black screen I try putting a flash light couldn't see any thing in. the front. So my TV gets power I guess.. the LED light turns on then dims out, but no picture at all. A couple times of trying the LED did turn on then right back off. It just did this over night. No lightning storms as far as I know. But the TV was working perfectly fine, picture was fine.. nothing to make me thing the TV was about to go bad. Is this the same thing that happened to you? It looks like a simple fix, I dont want to have a shop fix it and get screwed in the wallet..
