- Blackpool Pleasure Beach's 2023 season is almost here, in this video the Big One (Pepsi Max Big One) is testing ahead of the new season and Scott gives his thoughts on a load of new markings around the outside of the park. New ride? New hotel?

Look like underground utility markings to me. Could be to renew existing pipes and supply new pipes for the rumoured air bnb accommodation you mentioned
I can definitely see the connection
Most of the markings are showing existing underground services and depth, for instance the white markings are for data (BT in this case), it does mean that there is some excavation planned as it works as a guide for the contractors

Exciting to see rollercoasters testing and your correct to say it will be strange to not be able to hear the big ones roar, one of the best things about BPB
BPB without the Big One’s various iconic noises would be a sad place
I'm a "I like coasters from the ground, not being on them" person. Especially when people come off it looking decidedly peaky 🤣

The markings look like utility's markers so gas water sparks coms etc. The run past Infusion defo will be weird now not being so loud.

Great update. Top shots of the coaster testing as usual and got me excited with the big one music too. Looks to be running really well and look forward to getting on it. Sounds much smoother!!! Markings are very interesting and difficult to tell what the plan is here. Markings are difficult to read without any information.

Great update Scott . I’m pretty sure the markings are to identify the utilities and services underground. The big grey chamber lids and white paint are BT the red is generally electric, if you notice the reds radiate from the light posts which will have live cables inside 🤙🏽🤙🏽🧱👍🏼

Thank you for the update Scott, I really appreciate the time and effort you have put in to get some great footage of the rides testing.
I cannot believe the Big Dipper onion still hasn’t been painted yet! It was removed ages ago. Could this mean that the ride is getting a complete repaint as rumoured or are they just being slow to paint the onion?
As for security moving you on, is that really necessary? It’s not as if you’re trying to break entry into the park!
Thank you! They’ve made a really good start with painting the Dipper, but the onion being dumped back there makes me think it’ll not open before Easter weekend.
Not sure why the Boulevard staff felt the need to report me but I’m fairly sure I won’t spend any money in there again. They never used to complain when I’d go buy a brew or three in there between filming ride testing.
We were staying in the Travelodge near North Park when the Big One was testing and watched it all from the North West corner area/turnaround. It was running really well. Them markings were put down 2 weeks ago and their colour codes relate to underground utilities and pipes/cables although unsure what project? Maybe the air BnB idea?
I can definitely see a connection to the AirB&B
Good video mate... markings are services... white is phone wires,blue is water pipe, red is electric, purple/green is normally Internet / cable tv.. orange is notmally drainage/sewer pipe....numbers depth in pavement..
I believe the markings are prep for converting Ocean Boulevard to Air B&Bs

No sand, the old evac platform has gone and they’ve changed the on track walkways so there’s no rattle from them. They did the same with the other sections too.
That area could be converted into Air BnB apartments or expand the Boulevard Hotel

look like for new gas or water or electric work in the area those markings had lots round my area when they renewed the gas pipes

(Not based on knowledge) They look like piping markings, places to either avoid digging during construction work or markings to identify where to dig during construction. It's probably for new pipping works or replacement piping works, it could be for a new construction but some of those markings will be piping others will be where to dig for foundation piling.

There’s quite a bit of gas pipe replacement in Blackpool at the moment, so may be related although they don’t generally have such detailed markings of where the services are… interesting to see if anything happens around Ocean Boulevard.

I actually love the idea of turning those old shops into air B&Bs based on the fact there are very few accessible sea front apartments. However I suspect I’d wince at the price lol 😂

Since 1976 ish and 2012ish ive seen the Big Dipper onion in situ a couple - few hundred times/
Trouble is that ive been so jacked for the first drop, that ive never took an estimate of the size/height of the onion.
So mate, how big (tall) you recon the BD onion is?

Those markings could be cause they are replacing the pavement so they could be markings for water gas and electrics pipes or they could be how much depth they have to take out to make all the pavement level

If that's Big Wheel markings, what size of big wheel are they getting. The one in Dubai? 😁🤣 Personally, I reckon it's for utilities (Water, gas, electricity) work.

Completely random question, but how did the upper-arm section of the skeleton on top of the Ghost Train end up so far away from it on a higher roof? It's visible on Google Maps/Earth but looks like it has been there for a good while

It could be for road workers or something pretty sure they not building a wheel outside the park
If the Big Wheel is built it’ll be outside the park, but these markings aren’t for that or a ride, but as part of the hotel planning.

I think they are putting in a new monorail round the park and out the front of the park Infront of the boulevard for Sea views then back into the park. It would make sense the length of the markings plus they have the old monorail just sitting there with people wanting it to come back so this could be then rebuilding it with an extended layout out the front if the park.
