The biggest win for BPB would be getting an RMC - at the end of the day, any park (within reason) can compete for the highest rollercoaster - there is only one "first", and Thorpe would not be able to take it away from them. It'd also be a massive middle finger to Thorpe because they've been hounded for an RMC for nearly a decade at this point, 'cos we all know the thusies are foaming at the mouth for one - it'd easily take a decent chunk of their thrillseeker clientele...

It's been mentioned recently in conversation! With Lancs Live direct reporting from the park and having spoken to people at the park I can't imagine theirs being a mis-quote either

From "The Big One" to "The Bigger One". If Hyperia can fit in such a small space, there's plenty of footprint to build another tall hyper. BPB is the king of ride to ride interaction.

well said mate totally agree i had an awesome weekend at pleasure beach even Saturday didn't bother me maybe i just got lucky and had no breakdowns at all and still got on 20 rides! but much agreed a big new coaster along side the classics would be amazing and also 1 uping merlin would be great.

Avalanche is in the way of there being an absolutely MASSIVE plot of land for a new RC. However, i can defo see B&M squeezing something awesome in that space!!!! 240ft Dive?? Couple of inversions. Piss Alton and Thorpe off in one swoop. AND would be the worlds tallest dive.
A lot of people have mentioned a dive but with the manfacturers that are linked.... none of them are B&M.... yet.... there's already a choice for AT to make it's just building something unique that poses the big question. How can you stand out in a market and drive footfall to your park. It's a big investment, a big risk, the decision has to be perfect.
@LiftHillsandThrills agree.....but Oblivion is getting on 30 years old and as good as that drop is, it doesn't do anything else. A world class version would draw in the crowd in my opinion! I'd go!!! Either that or the world's first T-Rex.

As much as I am a southerner who has never been to bpb and want Thorpe to hold the record, competition is necessary to keep the industry churning new ride experiences for us to enjoy. If they do break the hight and speed, that will draw people back into the park.
They just need a USP attraction… simple as that, get people back in the park

Great video 👍 Personally I just can't see another coaster being built there over 200ft, as they have struggled enough with the wind as it is on the PMBO. I can't imagine BPB having 2 major coasters there going down due to wind at the same time. Will be interesting to see what comes from them next tho.
It’s an investment that has to make a mark, that’s the key point here. Ideally I’d build taller but I’m not BPB but there is NO way the park is going to stand by and let it slide, there’s something big coming whatever it may be!

Yes agreed. Avoid a coaster that is affected by wind. Only manage to get on The Big One on about a third of visits.
@@thesitarist Can’t imagine it being anymore protected being tucked into the park slightly more but all the same even if it’s not the tallest… it has to be unique. I can’t see them doing anything else

"tallest ride in the uk" looks good in marketing so its most likley somthing like that. because without removing 1 or 2 other older coasters I dont think they have the space to build somthing 240+ft and also have a layout better than hyperia.

Watson Road was going to be the location for the launch of an Intamin Rocket, for which the prom was prepped for the three-footer top hat. The removal of Grand Prix, with the adjacent, unused Monorail station, frees up the overpass for a coaster station/launch, rather than having to use the road beneath, and the track will be at the right height to cross the road and tramline to the prom. Whatever Amanda has up her sleeve, I guess the customer data from the installation of Icon shows that a new, big, coaster is the best way forward.

B&M hyper, 'The Bigger one' or a clone of red force, if it's a coaster 100% they want the height record back, with a red force type ride they could take Europe height and speed records.

I personally think something they may go for is a giant drop tower, maybe take the record for world tallest? Now that’s something that would put them on the map again whilst also maybe not been as much cost wise as another massive coaster? Another thing that makes me think this is removal of ice blast surely they’ll want some kind of tower ride replacement idk
Well Ice Blast WAS set to leave and still could by 2025 but a little birdy said it’s getting some investment as the park have done a complete 180. They were only talking about dismantling it 2 weeks ago!
@@LiftHillsandThrills I mean if iceblast does stay that’s fine by me, went on it first time since 2018 last year and still thought it had a decent bit of kick to it still despite what a lot of people say and I enjoyed the ride, seems to be a crowd pleaser too!
However I have heard the park is meant to be getting a gyro swing next year
(apparently already ordered) and it was slated to go on ice blasts spot, which personally i think would look incredible. But maybe that’s just a bs rumour or perhaps they will place it elsewhere. Did seem like it could well have been another one of these rumours coming true until Amanda’s latest outburst saying Iceblast was staying! Who knows man 😂

Infrastructure needs a complete overhaul, there would be no point investing in a major attraction without a reshuffle of what's stopping people from entering the park.

Grand prix was built after the one at wdw wss seen...it was popular in 70s and 80s but just got out of fashion. A shambala type coaster could easily be built as there is plenty of room for support posts etc. a bit of guts is needed..or at least a top thrill dragster type ...

@@LiftHillsandThrills they still have the foundation built into the promenade for a tall coaster for what was supposed to be the bigger one back in the day which was supposed to have its station where the grad prix is, could we see the footers finally being utilised for a new coaster? See if you can dig out the plans for that original idea, it would be amazing if they could have something fly over the promenade out over the sea.
I keep thinking that the bigger one is a possibility now that Grand Prix is getting removed.
However I'm still dubious it could actually happen. The two things that put me off the idea is wind..a +236ft coaster on the Blackpool seafront is surely a recipe for constant closures.
And secondly a top hat on the seafront seems like a maintenance nightmare, the sea spray would surely half the life of the steel.
Maybe they don't take full on height record back but instead aim for a different record instead, maybe the Uk's Tallest dive coaster?
Who knows! Whatever it is, if it means investment in the park it can only be a good thing 👏
haha I doubt they'll mess with Big One but even if it's not height related they just need that unique selling point to draw people back to the park. It has to be unique, nothing else like it in the country and a flat (for me) just wouldn't cut it

I believe there’s a restriction on RMC’s being built in the UK but I can’t seem to find clarification on this since I saw someone writing about it
@@LiftHillsandThrills hope not, but noise issues maybe? Their lifts always sound extra noisy. Sure I’ve heard Vekoma handle their sales in Europe but don’t think that would cause any issues
Unprecedented heights is referring to their new Giant Wheel. It's been on order for some time. Amanda's way of beating the piers new giant wheel.
Seperate Company is still standing but the wheel project looks to not be going ahead whatsoever but the article was referring to the Grand Prix removal specifically and replacement but it still seems like they’re undecided on what’s going in that space

I really dont think they should try to go for the title of having the tallest coster again because whos to say universal wont come along and top that again.
Then it just becomes unimaginative of trying to build the tallest coster, which can always be topped, but would love to see them have another unique coster that puts them on the map.
Universal will be building mostly indoor rides it would be highly unlikely they’d go for anything like that although it isn’t out of the question

I really hope you’re right, because you’re talking real sense. I don’t trust them to know that though so I’m unconvinced. I do feel for Amanda - the personal attacks are absolutely not on. I think she needs to get off twitter for her own wellbeing. Everyone does, there’s nothing well-intentioned on there anymore and responding to that stuff just gets us all locked into a vicious cycle.
I have my own issues with BPB, but the amount of negativity over opening day has really surprised me. If they don’t want teething problems, don’t go on day one. If they don’t want downtime, don’t go when it’s absolutely bucketing it down. 🤷🏻♀️
Opening day is always a trial of fire for any park, there are ALWAYS issues but with this video I just wanted to put myself in the shoes of the powers that be at BPB and what I would do in their situation, I feel as though they have no other choice, they NEED to do this... they NEED to get footfall into the park

Personally I like opening days. They’re quirky, things go wrong. You laugh it off with the staff and carry on. That’s what we do, because we’re enthusiasts and we want it to work. Not all this performative negativity for views stuff I’m seeing these days. I’ll call a spade a spade sometimes, but above all I just want it all to be a success because it’s a world I love.
I hope you are right but it would be a massive roll of the dice from a park that seems to be struggling financially. But I agree that the only way to get footfall back to the park is to get the coaster height record back again .
It would be a risk especially in the current climate but they HAVE to do something... it would be a gamble but it's a risk that has to be taken or shut up shop within a decade without any investment

Big One's top speed is 74mph, not 85mph as listed on its website page. RCDB lists it as the former.
I do think a gyro swing would be a good fit for the park.

put in the UK tallest drop tower and then you can say you have the tallest ride in the UK. I have heard that the drop tower from icon park has been sold since it it was taken down.

@@LiftHillsandThrills it would probably the quickest and cheapest help fix to Blackpool problem. I could easy see a new coaster taking 3 years to happen by the time its designed, surveyed, costed, planning permission, and any waiting for it to be manufactured. and build time.
When the big one was new with the original drop.... with zero wind on a very hot day it could probably hit 85 mph with every riders hands on their laps 😂😂

Just a thought and it makes sense when you think but I know for a fact there is a world record breaking ride which has been dismantled and is currently looking for a home , I'm guessing pleasure beach resort could pick it up cheap, I give you the drop tower fron icon park orlando.

The park should go with a record breaking flat ride that has high capacity and has a 1.2m height to make it appeal to a bigger audience

They can't build in the UK just yet I believe and whilst I'd love BPB to have one the manufacturers they're speaking to don't consist of RMC at this stage I know that much!

Well.. that's the thing. Ice Blast WAS going but we're not sure if it's still going in 2025 or if it's going to be completely restored. It was a certainty at one point but there's been a complete 180 behind the scenes that now says different. The ride that this relates to will be replacing Gran Prix specifically

It's 430ft tall, double Ice Blast. The tallest freestanding drop tower on earth! It would make the big one look small 😂.
@@ARC29526 I still couldn't see anyone other than Blackpool airport having a problem with that haha BUT it just wouldn't draw people in... but I'm a little bias with flat rides, I just don't see the appeal in most cases, in terms of bringing people to a park I feel it has very minimal impact

Built within the next 3 years I'd say... it has to be really you can only stagnate for so long, let's just hope they have a good season this year and onwards!
A big ol' drop tower, 300ft+, would do wonders for the park, and I don't think it will be affected by the wind as much as the Big One because it only goes one way, DOWN!!!!!

Hi Sean I picked up a park map at the weekend and Grand Prix was removed from the map but Ice Blast was still on there and listed. I would have thought they would have removed it as well if there were plans to close it for the season.

So initially the rumours were that it was leaving by 2025 and operating in 2024, seeing it closed on opening day had people speculating it was leaving early but it looks as though despite plans for it to be removed discussed internally the decision has been made to invest and repair and see if it lasts the season and beyond. That's the update at the moment, naturally these things change a lot but I have a feeling that 'ridiculous rumours' suddenly backed them into a corner to the point where keeping it to prove a point prevailed over removing it as it's knackered
I agree with u regards to comments directed at her ladyship...to a certain extent. You look at what Bianca put on social media today compared to what Amanda put out on Saturday... Bianca clearly knows how to run a park... Amanda...does not just imo😊
One is improving a park and heading in the right direction the other is being trolled daily and is much more on the defence. Opposite ends of the scale I think

It's very possible but considering it was on the chopping block and had a team ready to remove it the fact it's staying is because of the people who posted those 'ridiculous rumours' if it stays any longer than the reported 2025 season where it was to leave the park beforehand

Get rid of the bollodrome next. Could see them using that space mainly and have it go where Grand Prix is.

@LiftHillsandThrills I dunno if Pleasure Beach would build one but how about them hyper Zamperlas which looked like a premier sky rocket. They said they can build them up to 230ft. You can they might convince zamperla and have it 10ft taller? It be a cheaper investment for Breaking the height and possibly speed record again and won't take up a massive plot of land.
Maybe they do a double package with zamperla, install one of them then get rid of pizza kitchen or just relocate it and build a zamperla spinning coaster like the one at Cedar Point in that plot of land.

There were losses reported but hospitality did well and it wouldn't be the first time they've had help from the council with regards to rides so I wouldn't rule it out again

If you honestly think Amanda is forking out for a coaster youre deluded. It will be a drop tower if that quote is correct, especially given the lies about Ice Blast needing parts when its clearly SBNO awaiting removal given all its branding and queue lines, signage has been removed. Not a clickbait title just common business sense, they’re not stupid, they know the competition, they know the market and despite some poor decisions along the way they know this needs to be something big or the parks future is in jeopardy.
