Tracy Smothers, Paul London, Stevie Richards, Jason Sensation, Russo etc. Rene’s voice is considered less than these current supposed top guys with ‘critically’ acclaimed matches, who in reality, know Fck all about the psychology of drawing ALL TYPES of people to pay money to watch them. La resistance was over like rover. These “wrestlers” in wwe and aew are hollow, formulaic and factory produced and shoved so hard down the marks throats. They always come back for seconds.

Okay, back when Joey Stiles did the (worked) shoot on Raw after Lawler shoved him, he said, amongst other things, Vince made out with the divas to inflate his own insatiable ego. Before hearing the opening of the quote from the late Ashley Massaro on this video, I thought Joey was talking about things like the Trish Stratus angle where Vince made out with her in front of his sedated wife, Linda. All these years later and I hear that opening quote from Ashley... This is pure evil. And painfully heartbreaking.
I understand that season 5 of Dark Side of the Ring has already been filmed. But I think we can all agree that the ENTIRETY of season 6 onward could be souly focused on everything coming to light about Vince, Brock, Laurinitus, Kevin Dunn, etc.

I believe there needs to be evidence when there are accusations of course it is just I cannot believe how many fans are so quick to defend Vince like he is their hero. • @Trustme77
      @Trustme77 5 месяцев назад +3

I agree. Every accusation should be taken seriously, but there has to be convincing evidence to back it up. As much as it sucks for people such as Vince to victimize others (and he's definitely done that in one way or another, even if these particular allegations are somehow untrue) and be getting away with it for so many years, I personally believe that it would be worse if we did away with the presumption of innocence and made it much easier for people to get incarcerated, because there would be a lot more innocent people getting locked up than there are now. I don't want to see that, especially not when America has the largest prison population in the world right now; making it easier to convict people would make the problem worse. Just my opinion, though, and everybody is free to have a different one if they think I'm not making sense here.

And those famous cases aren't even getting into stuff like what happens in a divorce: imagine that you're fighting your ex-husband for custody of your children, who are the most important thing in the world to you. In that scenario, how many people might be tempted to say that the ex-husband was an abuser, so that they'd get custody instead? And of those tempted, how many would actually sink low enough to do it?

Like if he did ask KLR to meet him in a room and it turned out he was alone when she was under the impression it would be a gathering, then what did he want exactly? Who knows...but honestly, after Amber Heard I think that everybody should have realized that they should not literally believe every single woman who accuses somebody of something, if there's no evidence. Since it is notoriously difficult in every western country to get a conviction for sexual assault let alone rape (most women just keep it to themselves rather than to through this) I'd say that's far from true, by the way, Johnny Depp is still friends with all of those Hollywood creeps people claim to hate, but they love him because he charmed in the witness stand and proved Amber Heard to be an egotistical and disturbed liar, I don't think he proved himself to be completely innocent either, they strike me as a couple of very sick addicts with arrested development, surrounded by exploitative money grabbers , Heards Lawyer was perhaps the worst lawyer I've ever seen ,fiction or reality, but that court case was a fucking clown show from start to finish, public entertainment . Many years ago when talking about Vince's scummy conduct (I think it was the way he put the territories out of business), the OSW Review guys basically said that he really was a bastard, but that if it weren't for him they probably wouldn't have become wrestling fans because wrestling wouldn't have become a big deal without him doing that. I'm positive that they all have a lower opinion of Vince today, but I think that's part of the reason why other people don't *want* this to be true: nostalgia. They remember moments like Hogan slamming Andre or Austin winning the title, and they don't want the guy who they see as the genius responsible Rock 'n' Wrestling and the Attitude Era and so on to be...a guy like THIS. In a similar vein, I think that's why so many wrestling fans just kind of avoid thinking or talking about what Austin did to Debra all those years ago. Even though Austin pleaded no contest to those charges, they want to keep looking up to the guy as one of the all-time greats instead of looking down on him as a domestic abuser, so they maybe subconsciously look for reasons why they shouldn't hold it against him. Like "That was a long time ago" or whatever.

When you talk about how Vince punished people by ruining their career, it's as heartbreaking as it is undeniable that that's exactly what he would do!
I'm a huge fan of RVD and when he was drafted to SmackDown in like 2004, I was so excited because I didn't have cable but now I could watch him wrestle. What i didn't know then, that's so obvious now, is that Vince was punishing him and Paul Heyman.
Vince McMahon has a son and a daughter, but that will never change the fact that his favorite child was, is, and always will be, Monday Night Raw!
And when SmackDown was kicking the crap out of Raw during the brand extension, Vince didn't try to make Raw better, he went out of his way to make SmackDown worse!
He took away Paul's position as booker and head of creative for SmackDown, and took his top star from ECW and sent him to SmackDown so that Paul could have a front row seat to watch Rob get humiliated.
I was pissed to watch every week as RVD was being forced to have slow matches and job every week to "The Dudley." Rob was literally kicked in the balls for 2 months and lost week after week against Bubba or D-Von. He wasn't allowed to have the awesome, fast paced, gravity defying matches that he pioneered. All because Vince wanted to punish Paul E.

Let’s be fair. Women in wrestling were treated as eye candy as that’s what they were there for. The men wrestled and the women were good to see. Most people don’t want to watch women wrestle, that’s well known, same as womens boxing, or football, etc. It’s only when you started getting better women wrestlers that they were taken seriously. Back in the attitude era you only had Jaqueline, ivy and Luna who were good. And I stayed that way for a long time. Today rhea or Charlotte are better than most of the men is bollocks, that’s just a feminist statement. When they do things different, the stand out amongst a very average group of women in their division, that’s common sense

I can't imagine the bullying thats waiting those kids.

Respect to you Rene. I’ve loved this podcast for a while. I get emotional myself hearing ab you talk ab Test, Umaga, Lance and others. Never knew the business was like this when I loved watching it growing up. As I’ve gotten back into in the recent years, the ugly and dark side of wrestling has really shocked me. Makes me sad in a way I don’t know why.. it’s like I never knew what these guys were putting themselves through every night. Unbelievable. Again respect to you Rene x10 and Paul and James as well.

Why most those names you mention took pills that isn't the way to go out. Look others they don't even mention there names no more they should get some credit.

If you guys invest literally just a small bit of $$ into the podcast for some better equipment like microphone and stuff you'd get a lot more viewership js. You have that raw no nonsense factor but you also need to take it up as far as the production goes. Can't be filmed on a potato forever.

To be fair, sometimes false accusations are made against people in all walks of life, so I think the best thing to do when somebody makes an accusation is to think "Maybe it's true and maybe it isn't. This should be investigated so that everybody can find out once and for all." That being said, it works both ways; if you don't automatically believe accusers, you shouldn't automatically believe the accused either, so people shouldn't assume "Oh, they're making it up because they're bitter and they want money" or whatever.
Of course, most times with Vince it wasn't investigated, and considering all the stuff that we KNOW Vince has done (kept wrestlers from unionizing, worked them like dogs which kept them from their families and led to them using all kinds of drugs to keep up with the schedule, broke the promise he made to his own father that he wouldn't try to conquer all the other territories, allowed Bradshaw, Holly, Benoit, Taker and the rest to make life hell for young talent, probably most relevant to this was booking himself to make out with women like Trish and Torrie, and lots more)...in general, the guy's a POS. So if someone I know to be a POS happens to be the kind of POS who's also done what Janel Grant alleges and what Ashley alleged, it honestly wouldn't surprise me one bit.

@@CHIP420BLITZthere really isn’t a better wrestling podcast than CDR though between the hosts the chemistry the honesty and the guests it is almost perfect. I’ll take the few audio problems to get what I mentioned and much more. They all have different laptops and mics and are all in different parts of the world so the audio isn’t going to sound as crisp as people together in real life doing podcasts in a room with soundproof walls and proper equipment.

I mentioned i heard the ashley story on here from paul a year ago and people didn't believe me xD i knew there were rumours of what happened to her a few years ago and always believed it. People refusing to believe these things cos ya'll were midcarders? Is dumb. If anything, it's more realistic cos life as a midcarder is what it is like there more so than being a main eventer. Tbh i think people don't wanna believe it and attack ya'll cos they don't want their childhood memories being ruined.

People should absolutely NOT comment on this business. Unless they have either been in that squared circle, or behind the curtain in some capacity. Be it booking, writing, etc...For "marks" to make blanket statements that have no clue what they are talking about. Is not only making yourself looking like an ass but is downright disrespectful. It's not just the physical aspects that take it's toll folks. As we are seeing it's the emotional and sometimes that's even worse in a BIG way. We are clearly seeing how Vince McMahon was a cold and calculating SOB. That had two personalities. The one you saw on TV or in front of the camera. And the other his "TRUE PERSONA" when he wasn't being filmed. I worked in promotional marketing for a local indy company plus i have been a VERY "smart mark" to this business for the better part of 30yrs now. I know A LOT not everything but enough to know what goes on behind the curtain. And it's not pretty at all. This is a cold and cutthroat business that can have it's rewards but also take it's toll on you. You have to be made or cut as i like to say from a different type of stone to endure what these men and women go through for our enjoyment. The sacrifices they make leaving family and friends often times struggling behind to take care of things while they are on the road. Would break most relationships quickly. When they say "married to the business" they aren't joking. So that all said, we ALL really need to give them far more respect and appreciation. For what they put themselves through and not just physically but MENTALLY for our enjoyment.

It wasn't about sexual gratification, though. Rape never is. It's about enacting control, power, and narcissism. Though, let's be clear, many escorts and sex workers also do get raped and forced into acts they have not explicitly consented to or that are beyond their states boundaries, and that is unacceptable as it happening to anyone else.
