This song brings me right back to my childhood!!! I was a kid in the 80s and imo the best decade to be a kid!!!! Back in the 80s summer vacations involved at times long rides WITHOUT any cell phones or any type of social media...you had to endure the ride with what you could!!! If you had a walkman you were golden...even though we had less technology I would not change my childhood of the 80s for what these kids have today...no way!!! Give me a BMX bike over tik tok any day!!!! Plus for anyone that lived through the 80s this song instantly brings back scenes from National Lampoons Vacation 😂😂👍
@@Marcel_Audubon the guitar and echo vocal effect, as well as the harmonies, are certainly influenced by 50s rock, doo-wop and so on, but not a direct imitation, rather a continuation. this is obvious.

As an 80s kid this was my childhood, national lampoons Christmas vacation is my go to film to remind me of when live was good, not to much technology, no vegans trying to take over the world, no kids attacking each other with knives, just simpler times, I'm grateful to have grown up in the era I did 🙏

I see Stevie is getting inducted into the RRHOF in March 2019 as a "solo" artist. Sadly, Lindsey is NOT , BUT he should be. No one produces her songs better than Lindsey!!
He literally turned her poems into gold. Single handedly. And the combo of Lindsey and Stevie is what catapulted FM to the success and Legends that they are today and have been from the day they joined. Instaneously. Everyone knows and can feel the magic those two bring. I love Stevie but I am so mad at her and Mick. Listening to them sing Lindseys songs is just so wrong. Really wrong. It doesn't even make sense. I think they are trying to create some sexual tension between Stevie and the one guy and no one cares. The fans crave the chemistry and tension between Stevie and Lindsey. Their history is like Romeo and Juliet of our times. Incredible all of it. And the songs created from it all are incomparable. Period.
Stevie Legend as I stated,no one does Stevie's poems better than LB . No one. Dave Stewart has done such a hack job of her songs that in the past 10 years, it's near unlistenable. None of her recent albums have sold squat nor have any produced a top 10 hit. She and Lindsey need to mend fences, but with the recent lawsuit settlement,I don't see that happening. Irving, Stevie and Mick should be embarrassed for themselves.
@@Newzchspy Completely agree. It's hard to enjoy the songs from when she worked with Dave. Other then being a life long fan of hers and wanting to hear her message in those songs but to listen to the music aspect of it is extremely bland.
Agreed , but most of the fans are blind , yes stevie wrote the lyrics and chords , but not the arrangements etc , Lindsey is a 8 in one guy , my respects to hem
Sorry to the Stevie Nicks fans but I think Stevie NIcks is an awful singer. Lindsey should have never been fired from Fleetwood Mac and have Stevie leave the band on her own will. HELL, Christie McVie is a better singer than Stevie Nicks!!!!!!

I probably haven't heard this song in 15+ years, my parents use to always make it a ritual to watch the family vacation movies during the holidays. Definitely a new favorite pick me up song
This song just makes you want to dance! ☺🎵 Love this song so much 💕
Dance-Dance-Dance!
It makes me want to go to Wally World.
I just love Lindsey Buckingham!
I think he's beautiful.
Beach Boy harmonies here. Love it!! Brings me back to the 80's AND the 60's Can't be down listening to this!!!
Ironically, the only person this song doesn’t seem to make happy is Lindsey himself in this video
Because he's still stuck at work and can only dream of the holiday road.
I love this song. As soon as I book a Vegas vacation it’s played several times a day 😁
I play this every year my family takes our first road trip vacation. Great memories with the “Griswold’s”.
Never seen the video but always dug the track!
70s were the best then 80s.
You’re both wrong…. All about us 90’s kids 😉
50s-90s were peak times. Ever since 2000 it has been crap...except for Lord of the Rings
I was born in the 70s, kid in the 80s and a teen in the 90s-Now that’s just plain Awesomeness 🌟💖🌟
I start every family vacation with this song
Me too and sing “99 bottles of beer on the wall “
Yep I am 46 and remember this song like yesterday.
I feel like this is homage to 50s rock. Short, Simple lines and easy guitar riffs. That’s all you need
nothing'50s here
The quick echo on the vocals is probably making you think of the fifties
@@Marcel_Audubon the guitar and echo vocal effect, as well as the harmonies, are certainly influenced by 50s rock, doo-wop and so on, but not a direct imitation, rather a continuation. this is obvious.
@@richardturner1382 LOL 🤣😆🤣
@@richardturner1382 this ain't doo wop, sister! 🤣😆🤣
Absolute banger of a tune ... I love everything this man lends his vocal chords to.
Lindsey is an insane talent. He was amazing in concert. He did not play this song.
Such a lovely, happy song. Always smile to this and Lindsey is a brilliant musician. One of the best ever!
How can this man's name not be a national treasure... he's beautiful, can sing his ass off,has wrote, collaborated, directed some of the best songs in history....was one of the better parts of one of the best band's in history
He is stunningly beautiful. And sooo talented. He is extremely underrated.
@@emilybolognese1056Lindsey Buckingham is one of the most highly regarded musicians of all time. Underrated? Nah
This song is so incredibly perfect for the Vacation movie. That I can’t even imagine he wrote it just as a regular song.
He really did do it for the movie.
Did he?
@@suebrown8134 Yes
The song that reminds everyone of their own family vacations..... and the hell that encompassed them!
This song is stuck in my head FOREVER
“Clark, have you lost your mind? Where did you get that?”
“Sporting goods store, honey.”
MORE THAN 1 YEAR. It took me more than 1 year to find this song. I feel totally alive
Interested to know why you didn't do a search on lyrics. Something like, I dont know, "Holiday Road"?
Found a 45rpm of this in a dollar bin. One of the best vinyl purchases I ever made!
I feel like a fool. I always thought Kenny Loggins sang this. I am a much bigger fan of Buckingham than Loggins. I can't believe it.
A lot of people, myself included, thought this was Kenny Loggins.
I'll make you feel better because I'm dumber than all of you! I thought he was singing "How they roam" when I was a little kid haha
It was never released on cd only on album in 83 so it’s an easy song to get lost
@@Ibhenriksen Often times the misheard lyrics are even better than the original!
me too
I absolutely loved the scene on the Bear with this song. Had to watch a couple of times for sure.
Exactly what made me look it up.
We just discovered this song after watching the Vacation movie with the family this Christmas. We ❤ it!!!!
Was Lindsey Buckingham with Fleetwood Mac?
It's a great song anytime!! And I think he was at one time part of Fleetwood Mac
I started to hum this at Christmas, and like clockwork all the relatives start singing 🎤😂.
The feeling i get when I hear this song is inexplicable. 80's had to be the best decade.
The Bear brought me back here :)
Bear?
@@emberashes6809 Hulu show (I think)
The song itself brought me here. It just happened to be on my recommendations feed.
However, I did just get notice yesterday that the university I teach at in West Africa decided on the spot to have a 2-week break for Easter and the end of Ramadan, effective today. So maybe... 🤔
@@emberashes6809The Bear is a TV show and they used this song in an episode.
I was this second old when I realized Lindsey Buckingham sang this song I’ve heard for 40 years. How is that possible???
Same.
Me too! I know the song so well but never knew who sang it lol gen x here
I thought it was Kenny Loggins then said "oh yeah" after seeing this. Your memory is the second thing to go...
Essa música é a alma dos filmes Férias Frustradas!muitas lembranças boas da adolescência!!
He was such a handsome man back in the day.
Alexander England: “Boy, you got purdy lips” -Things you don’t want to hear on your first day in prison.
Same with Chevy Chase.
Yes he was. I know he’s much older now but he still is one of the most handsome men ever :)
Yes, I can see why Stevie fell in love with him
@@oliviarichardson744 He looks good in Fleetwood Mac
Lindsay is such a phenomenal talent, 80s gold
As an 80s kid this was my childhood, national lampoons Christmas vacation is my go to film to remind me of when live was good, not to much technology, no vegans trying to take over the world, no kids attacking each other with knives, just simpler times, I'm grateful to have grown up in the era I did 🙏
I share your view of the world
You're sadly mistaken. Vegans and stabbings are not a new thing.
Yeah, those days where great as an 80's kid.
👍
Selective memory is a great thing 😂
One of Lindsey's best and such a fun song to a great movie! Saw it the year I graduated high school. Still watch it when it's on!
Me too, with a crush who had absolutely no interest in me😂
This is one of those songs that sticks in your head all day long that you can't get rid of but I guess that's a good thing!
Try using that as defence in a multiple homicide trial.... There's not a jury in the land that would convict you.
you ain’t right if you haven’t blasted this in the car with ur family while going on holiday! 😂
For real 👌 😂
Damn right!
This is made to order for the Memorial Day weekend
It’s what we’re doing right now.
@@crazycars81 ... Wally World???
Living in KY, my grandpa would take my cousins and little brother to holiday world. This song always takes me back to those hills. 5 of us piled in a Mitsubishi eclipse.
National lampoons vacation one of the best movies of all time too
Yess, best movie ever
0:19 I like the little nod.
Do hit give you tangles up yo lek an down yo spine an make you feel some kind of way?
