I met a girl (2) weeks before I left for the Army in October 1981, I wanted to go awol, what an awful feeling having to leave. It was love at first sight. I listened to this song everyday and yes, she waited for me. Happily married now for 40 years in (married in October 83). This song brings back every great memory of that time. I bet I’ve listened to this song 500 times in my lifetime. Thank you forever Lindsey, you’ll never know how much this song means to me and I’ll always know how old this song is.
Same thing happened to me but there was no happy ending . I met a girl in college 3 months before I joined the Army. A month before going to basic training she decides to break up with me because she said that if I leave, she’ll feel lonely and heartbroken. Till this day, I feel devastated and betrayed. This was back in 1996. Anita, if you are reading this, shame on you. I met Lindsay many years ago before my love for Fleetwood Mac blossomed. I have been a flight attendant for over 20 years and had him and all the boys in first class in a flight I was working. 1030 in the morning they all had a miller lite and I have to say they were the most down the earth respectful, warm, charming and funny people I have ever met. I asked where was Stevie Nicks and he and Mic started laughing and said the girls always fly separately and they do their own thing. I was so moved by how kind and down to earth they were that as soon as I got home I put on their music and never stopped listening. Their music has touched my life deeply. I just wanted to share my little story about them.

I loved this song when it came out in New Zealand around 1982 and I was about 12 years old. I'd forgotten it until tonight when I was reading Lindsey Buckingham's bio and saw the song referenced. Oh yeah, that song! I clicked on it and, wow. I knew every little trill, every feathery guitar note, every dependable beat like the back of my hand, like a stamp on my heart. I'm 52. It's been 40 years but I'm 12 again, in my parents' kitchen, standing on a chair listening to the radio on top of the fridge. It enthralled me then and it thrills me now. Thank-you for this gift of a song, Lindsey Buckingham.

Lindsey Buckingham is only underrated by people who don't know Lindsey Buckingham. He is a true musical artist in every sense of the word. He can sing well, has great range, sing with incredible feeling, arrange, write lyrics, produce, and man, can he play a guitar! I had the privilege of seeing him live during his "Out of the Cradle" album tour - good lord - guitar wizardry. How he can play the way he does on a guitar for extended periods of time - without a pick - is simply beyond me. I've seen Lindsey on his own in concert, Fleetwood Mac with him in concert, and Fleetwood Mac without him in concert (twice), and the first two I mentioned had so much more depth to them, and they really REALLY missed his voice, and his guitar-playing.
I met a girl at a BBQ who was a friend of a friend & she commented that she couldn't stand the music that was playing. Forget what song. I asked her what she was into & the first name she said was Linsey Buckingham. I nearly dropped my beer. This was prob 8yrs ago & she was maybe in her late 20s. I was so blown away. I was prob 40yrs old at the time. She seemed surprised that I even knew who she was talking about! People who know truly appreciate what an extraordinarily talented musician he is. This song takes me back man!
It was about 6 months after my wife had passed away that I heard this song and now it's 25 years later..I'm not crying it's just the dust in the air...yours very truly Alfonso Cantu USMC
I graduated in 1980..I remember skating at the roller rink to this tune...and driving around town with my friends during the summer with the windows down and sun roof open with this song blasting...fun times..good memories ❤️
I know what ya mean. If I could go back to the '80s again, I'd do it in a heartbeat. Only condition: going back to then knowing what I know now. God, I'd be 11 years old when this came out. Going through puberty again..........OY! Growing out a moustache in the last portion of 8th grade wasn't so bad, but the whole voice changing/voice cracking.......mmmmmm. I gotta think about THAT one!
It’s October 16, 2024 and just heard this masterpiece on 93.3 WMMR here in Philadelphia as I was driving home on the dark roads. My ears still hurt from playing that track so loud. 😊
This came out during my senior year in high school. What I wouldn't give now to rewind the years and relive that entire decade. For those who weren't there to enjoy it I feel sorry you missed out. It was simply the best and I'm afraid there will never be another like it!
This is from the VERY early days of MTV. Videos were so bad but we loved them. We could watch our favorite artists sing on constant rotation. I miss the 80’s! 😢
In my opinion, this actually is a good video, it's simple and permits the music to be the focal point, which is how a good music video should be, and not too much
Yeah, shit i like it too. I've been gem hunting, digging into Miami Vice music that was used for the series. Their name came up so i started looking into them. I love how they make themselves look ridiculous in this video... you gotta be able to make fun of yourself, lol... There's another band called Fashion, also worth looking into if you haven't yet. They were ahead of their time ...
How did I forget this masterpiece?! He's sadly overlooked by a lot of people. Master guitarist and has great vocal range. There would be no Fleetwood Mac without him
I saw Fleetwood Mac in concert not long after Stevie had him kicked out of the band. It was still a great concert but I wish I'd gotten to see them with Buckingham there.
Two of the guitarists are former FMac guitarist Bob Weston and Bob Welch (with the glasses) and another one is Walter Egan, the guy who did "Magnet & Steel" in 1978 that featured Lindsey and Stevie. And I only figured that out TODAY watching the video in HD for the first time ever. For some reason, back in 1981, I seem to remember the video much darker, and on a smaller TV set, plus I didn't know who Weston was, or what Bob Welch or Walter Egan looked like. So there's that.
The 70s music will put you on another planet that no one will understand unless you have a love of the 70s music. You don't need drugs or alcohol to appreciate the best music ever. RUclips is the closest thing to a time machine. But God...I would rather you take me back to the 70s and leave me there....I'll be just fine.
When I first heard this song, I was 16 with a new born baby girl. I also was in a violent relationship. I fell in love with this song .I left him a few weeks after this song came out. Never saw him again, now so happy.
He certainly is! He was 100 on Rolling Stones top 100. That’s criminal! I can tell you Lindsey is playing just by hearing the first few notes. Not many I can do that with other than Clapton,Santana & Hendricks.
My God, the sublime efficiency of those ghostly guitar solos. The man is not just a musical genius, he has machine gun fingers with Merlin's magic touch.
hearing this song..takes me back....warm summer day...12 years old...riding the bus home from school..breeze blowing because all the windows are open...just on my way home..wondering what I was going to do when I got there...not a worry in the world....from a time in my life...before I got old and things got complicated...Im 52 now..and this memory...I have the exact same memory about a few songs..but this one stands out so clearly...the soundtrack to my life.
Dayum! Lindsey has the most beautiful eyes. He's always gonna be my favorite from FM . Actually they don't exist anymore without him. Love you forever Lindsey ❤

I remember falling in love with a boy when I was 16, and this song was playing. We lost touch, and here we are 33 years later, reconnecting and I’m falling in love all over again. Now I hear this song at work at least three times a day, and three times a day I’m 16 again.
I CANNOT imagine being a 16 year old and THIS is a hit on the radio. Last bell rings in highschool, walk to you're car, turn it on to go home and this is playing.
I lived exactly that scenario at 16. Drove down to the pizza shop on Main St, by that time this song ended and Van Halen ‘ Oh Pretty Woman ‘ was beginning. Waited for it to end, went in the pizza shop, ate a slice and had a soda, played a few games of Asteroids with the 75 cents change I had and then drove home. First song playing when I started the car was Eddie Money’s ‘Shakin’…… I’d go back in a heartbeat.

1982 was a good year... I could do an all out sprint and not be out of breath. I could jump up and down and no knee pain. I could see my abs. Had ranging hormones like superman and I had a full set of thick Hair!
Yes I would go back to the early 80s in a heartbeat if I could, I am 54 now, I remember this song when it was out, I liked it then and still do now. I hate the way the world has become, it seemed such a better place then, The music, people wrote letters, you would phone a friend from a phone box, life seemed so much simpler then, now it's so shallow and crass, people constantly on there phones, people obsessed with money and material things.Plesse please please can I go back to the early 80s 👌

Lindsay Buckingham is a deadly singer I reckon to Football Lover and the song Trouble is very neat.
This song reminds me of a daydream 💭😊 beautiful
Love how he looks in the camera with that smile.
I got my 72 year old Mom into this song last year. She now always says "Turn it up" ❤

It’s solo Lindsey Buckingham but still sounds like Fleetwood Mac. I miss this era of music ❤️
Mick Fleetwood is there too.
i seen mr buckingham at milwaukees summerfest 14 years ago he put on a great solo show minus the band fleetwood mac.
The guy with the black beard and long hair played with Fleetwood Mac right? Is that Mick Fleetwood?
La mejor época de nuestras vidas años 80 a 90 lindos recuerdos
Only 2 members of FM are missing, Christine McVie did backing vocals and Mick was on drums.
I love Lindsey's style. Best picker and original licks. I met him in 1974 right before my graduation from high school.
I’ve loved this song since the first time I heard it. I will never get tired of it
Same! First moment I heard it I was hooked. Just everything about it makes it so addictive to me.
2024! I wish so bad I could go back to the 80's! Beautiful song! That guitar! Sigh!
I wish I could go back to the 80s too. Oh man, the music, the carefree times...
😊
I know what ya mean. If I could go back to the '80s again, I'd do it in a heartbeat. Only condition: going back to then knowing what I know now.
God, I'd be 11 years old when this came out. Going through puberty again..........OY! Growing out a moustache in the last portion of 8th grade wasn't so bad, but the whole voice changing/voice cracking.......mmmmmm. I gotta think about THAT one!
it's still with us. that feeling you have, is it.
Me too. I miss the 80's so bad.
If you've been rocking this one for decades raise your hand 🖐️👍✌️
Lindsey Buckingham was a handsome man back in his younger days☺
Had heard this song as a child in 83/84, and just found it again. Happiness😚
i heard this song in the summer of 1984. i thought it was new at the time.
Ditto!

I agree! I grew up in the 80's. Freshmen year of high school 1985. Was incredible times back then. I feel bad for kids who never had it as good as us.

This is from the VERY early days of MTV. Videos were so bad but we loved them. We could watch our favorite artists sing on constant rotation. I miss the 80’s! 😢
In my opinion, this actually is a good video, it's simple and permits the music to be the focal point, which is how a good music video should be, and not too much
I just discovered this gem in 2022. Now, I can't get enough of it.
You should run on the double...
Check out "family man"
Please post again in 2023. Thanks.
Que música linda,saudades
Yup. I'm here. Real musicians real voice. Original . No samples or music theft is going on.
@@rrice1705 She certainly is a witch (just like the song she wrote - Rhiannon)!
I'm in the same boat mate completely missed this till now!.....Now I'm hooked!
stevie solo stuff was way better than this🤣
I agree
Lindsey Buckingham is a true artist and a superb guitarist.
The blonde haired guitarist in the from is Rick Nowels, who has written so many great songs for other artists.

This came out my senior high year, '81. Still listening to it 43 years later 😎🤘

I CANNOT imagine being a 16 year old and THIS is a hit on the radio. Last bell rings in highschool, walk to you're car, turn it on to go home and this is playing.
I was an 18 year old and this was a hit on the radio.
I'm sure you can't. You write like you never finished highschool.
