In my opinion, trial seven and this one sucked more. Seven was the worst.

My only suggestion for in general: Kill the Waterwraith, don't let it live. I have failed many, MANY attempts only because its flailing about kept knocking my pikmin all over the place and once time it even locked them in place trying to pass through them. I legit would have had it several of those times if it simply wasn't there. Sure enough, first time I just kill the fucker off and I got my purple onion

This guide was exactly what i needed to get on the right track, but not super reliable undortunately. The water wraith kept following me down the hall after the paper bag, meaning i couldnt just ignore it or it would camp the onion

Sounds like you could use a purple Pikmin to stun him while the onion continues on.
Alternatively, you could have the dog carry the onion once it's off the ledge. That gives you 10 purple Pikmin to deal damage with.
Main difference I see in this game is ppl going around with a team of 10-15 Pikmin and obliterating everything with Oatchi.
In Pikmin 2 even 100 weren’t enough lol

But yeah, the enemies have no chance once you've got the 50 Pikmin cap or so. Perhaps Bulborbs or Bulbears might be an issue but maybe I'm just bad fighting against them lmao
Depends on how you use him. You could focus on his carrying capacity or his attack power.
The early game maxes out your Pikmin capacity at 20, and you can only have 3 types out at a time outside of caves.

Nicely done, I thought about using “go there” but then they don’t run fast enough. I also tried using otachi to dig the dirt mound north of where you start while plucking purple south of start, to grab a bomb rock for the second barrier. Managed to finish down to the wire.
I was stuck on this for such a long time, at first thought poor Oatchi couldnt knock down the purple onion. I tried again and now it worked. While Oatchi was carrying the onion, and the wraith disabled, I rushed ahead and cleared the path for Oatchi. Only needed his help with the snow ball bug, once that was clear it was smooth sailing.

@@MonkeyKingHero happened to me the first time I tried following this, was able to do it the 2nd time with a minute and 8 seconds to spare by having oatchi carry the onion

I can't believe i literally forgot the water Wraith's only weakness was purple pikmin. I've trying methods to avoid while they carry back the onion

I went with a similar strat and still won:
While the first hydro jelly is being broken, pluck the nearby ice pikmin. This saves having to burst the second one near the ship.
2. Just use Oatchi they are lowkey busted and at max strength they can just carry the onion.

I feel like i keep getting bad luck. Every time after i crush the 50 bag, the wraith follows me down that hall and scares the pikmin off the onion and i waste too much time getting them back on.
Basically an optional fun challenge not tied to the story. But man just to get that sweet Puprple Pikmin Onion feels good and ready to leave behind shockwave. Bam! 😊
....I never realized you got enough Pikmin in the beginning to start backwards

? Why use Purple Pikmin for the Purple Onion when Oatchi can rush to knock it down, then carry it himself with a maxed out carrying capacity?
It looks like no upgrades were used for this run.
I mostly relied on oats to carry the onion while I cleared the path, waterwraith stopped following me after I got decently far from it.

I accidentally found out that transporting the onion with Oatchi actually cuts your time significantly and makes it insanely easier. Just FYI.
Especially fi you max his carry and learn swollow.

I'm not sure if it is faster, but you can knock down the onion with oatchi and let him carry it. You also have more pikmin to fight with this way. But you need the upgrades for oatchi
Edit : IT is faster, I just bearly missed the platinun meddal

I was able to get a platinum by just using Oatchi to carry it and ignore the Waterwraith
not everyone can even do this because the waterweaith follows and camps

Video doesn’t account for the fact that the skitterleaf spawns are random and can attack your ice pikmin through the cold wall. You have no idea how long it took for me to get a reset where their attack radius wasn’t touching the pikmin. Great video though, still helped. Took like an hour.

Ok so the trick is to use upgraded Otachi to carry the purple onion. Keep the wraith at bay with the purple pikmin.
Did this but had Oatchi carry the onion instead. Went faster and could squeeze past the waterwraith if need be.
Interesting way, but I found the easiest option is separate captains, let Oatchi carry the onion the whole way through and distract Water Wraith away from him to not waste time fighting.
Bomb Rock the wall so you dont have to travel the Grub-Dog way, by letting the Pikmin dig up the BombRock while Oatchi destroys the wall.
I did also go through the room with Creeping Chrysanthemum instead, which seems dumber, but it was so much easier to distract him while Oatchi made his way through, i dont know why.
Can you show the onion transforming with the purple and white onions?
It doesn’t transform, they stay separated.
@AwesomeAlexPlays not entirely true I saw footage the main onion having white Pikmin already combined I think not every type of onion combined together into one it's like 6 can combine together whichever two types of onions that are left will stay separate
@@AwesomeAlexPlaysit does combine, I’ve seen it happen in game already lol. You’re probably thinking of the ending cutscene which happens before you get the actual onions
@@Galacia_the_Glaceon I know for a fact that they can all fuse as in the IGN review you can see the Onion menu with all 8 onions in it!
That means there's 2 white and purple onions like there's 2 yellow and blue onions
You should use Oatchi to knock the purple onion down then carry it with Oatchi to the end. That's way easier than this method.

From what I saw, I didn't see any upgrades.
The pluck whistle would speed things up, and maxing out Oachi's carrying capacity would let him carry it while you use the purple Pikmin to deal damage.

Thanks, but honestly, it didnt work out to well for me. Had to use oatchi to trasnport the onion so i could use the rest of the purples.
The final challenge in the entire game and there's still text boxes appearing dead center screen.
No joke when i did it was a BUZZER BEATER
I have no clue why they decided to make a level so dependent on the behavior of a randomly acting enemy, like if the water wraith goes down the same path as the onion you either just gotta reset or be lucky at least thats what i had to do because i could not beat the level whenever it did go down that path
When 5 ice were left at the ice wall mine were being eaten through the damn wall by skitterleafs. That feels very unfair
I actually managed to solve this by not killing the waterwraith.
No, really. The waterwraith is an unstoppable tank that destroys anything in sight. I let oatchi carry the purple onion while the waterwraith smooshes enemies and me and my pikmin complete tasks.

I hate this mission. The part hallway with the dirt mount in it, in your vid he’s way behind you giving you time to kill the lil enemies. But every time I run in there after breaking the boss’s wheels, he fn sprints in there instead of running away
Okay I’m trying to apply this method but a lead enemy keeps killing my Pikmin from the opposite side of the gate..?

I have repeated this challenge so many times using the guide and still can't complete it. The RNG on whether thr water wraith comes running down the exact path you take is infuriating. It eats away at your time so damn much.
Use this guide, except use oochi to transport the onion, he is much quicker. i had about a minute left with this method on my second try.

That way I could attack the waterwraith to stall it and the other creatures to defeat them

Youre gonna need at least 90 purple pikmin in the last area
@@JonesJoesonyou need the full 100. There's a gate preventing Oatchi from getting to that treasure. He can help once it's off the ledge.
@@jardex2275or if you’re not able to acquire the purple onion at the time. You can always replay stages & have oatchi sniff out & lead you to where you can fins the purple Pikmin
