Absolutely no clue what it was doing, it just sorta walked off in a single direction and didn’t stop. I even followed it and it eventually realised there was no point to it’s expedition.

Olimar 11 days later: I have spent the past week and a half getting high on ultra spicy spray, and only just now realized moss was on my ship. I will now crash and burn due to forced-sleep.
The routes are whatever I could come up with in a couple of hours. On day 2 especially I'm pretty sure I could skip killing some enemies (canon beetle and blowhogs for instance)

i mean, it was your first playthrough right? this guy studied the maps, routes, the best possible optimization and probably played through the Shipwreck Tale many times, so don't go too hard on yourself ^^
This is insane and massively dandori but I think it’s worth mentioning that Moss having infinite stamina helps massively, and I’m pretty sure that only happens once you get infinite stamina in the main game, which takes 30+ hours of gameplay. I think the game is great and I hope it gets some love in the near future because there’s some real issues with it, but we might need to consider having a distributable 100% save file for runs of this, the dandori challenges, and the sage leaf challenges if they become categories.
What issues do you see with the game? I think its fine and to even get to olimars adventure you need to beat the main game so that presumes you will have done everything else
That segment between 23:38 and 23:45 is a mood. In some ways the pikmin AI in this game is the best it's ever been but at other times it feels like they're absolutely braindead. The automatic partial-lock on certainly didn't help matters either.

As a more causal Pikmin player, I have wondered if the flower Pikmin really make that big of a difference but considering you stop to flower them I guess they are that much better.
The bridge that takes 30 pieces can show u just how fast the flower pikmin are. The flowers will have already built their part of the bridge before the leaves get there
I've been so excited to see speedruns of this game. Always loved watching your pikmin 3 speedruns, and hyped to see the ones with this game with just how big it is and all the different modes to run.
The games only been out a short time and already speedruns are coming along nicely. I cant wait for the all onions and 100% categories to begin popping up, the routing will be INSANE

Guys... let me tell you how big of a deal that is. *I. NEVER. GIVE. UP. IN. A. GAME'S. CHALLENGES.* I just throw myself at it over and over until it's done. I don't take a break or come back another day. I make sure a challenge is done in one day to build up experience and get better. I lose that experience if I take a break. But after 3 and 4 drove me all the way till the sun came up multiple times, I'm done. I can't subject myself to becoming an ace speedrunner just to satisfy my completionist desires. I'm a casual as well. I like to chew through games like a fine steak and really savor it. I could never be a speedrunner because I can't stand doing the same thing over and over and over again for microscopic improvements. The challenges in these games DEMAND it. You know how games that have achievements show a percentage of how many players got that achievement? If 3 and 4 had data on that, I bet "get platinum in all challenges" would be less than 1%. Basically all the gameplay for these challenges boils down to is looking up speedrun RUclips videos, then trying to copy their insane robotic routing as close as possible. Fuck that shit. 4 is absolutely beautiful. But on top of control and responsiveness, and modding, pikmin 2 is still my fav. It's literally just the perfect pikmin experience. I have ideas for more, but until then, at the current time, 2 is.
@@Subreon Pikmin 4 makes it stupidly annoying to do, but throwing more Pikmin than needed at an object allows them to carry it faster. Also don't use your Purples, they're slower than other Pikmin

Also I still want to know how floor 7 is supposed to be "Dandori", it's just throwing Purple Pikmin everywhere and hoping everything dies, which is nearly impossible because the lock-on is way too aggressive and will not change targets no matter how much I turn or walk away
Very impressed, I figured two-days per area was too much, as I would always finish in a day and a half. I didn't realise how many hostiles and structures can be ignored. Kudos
Olimar: I don't know if I had grossly overestimated the durability of my life support system against this planet's toxic atmosphere or if there had been some kind of malfunction upon landing again, but I lost life support upon my return. I lost consciousness, believing it was the end. Yet, I awoke but not as I had been. The Pikmin took me to their onion, like a nightmare I had the first night here. However, instead of digesting me into nutrients, the onion instead combined my physiology with that of a Pikmin. I was covered in leaves and could breathe oxygen. The Dolphin would only require a few minor repairs to get back in space. Yet, entering the cabin and filling it with Hocotation atmosphere almost killed me. Now I know why Moss was suffering, this Pikmin-based was meant for this planet. I am stranded permanently. I am convinced this planet is cursed. I was not a man to believe such things, but there is something strange and almost malevolent about this seemingly innocuous ball of dirt and water. I have made my home in a reinforced bunker with my trusted Pikmin. I have even discovered more types with more abilities. Unfortunately, there seems to be no cure to my condition. One evening-as I was heading to my home, something that sickens me to think of as such-I saw falling stars. However, I realized these were not stars but ships crashing here. How could I have been so naive? My logs much have attracted the curious, thrill seekers, and all manner of people to explore this new world. Oh if only they knew what they were getting into. I have no choice. If they have any hope to survive, they must understand the principles of dandori. If not, they might as well become leaflings like me as soon as possible.

I don’t know if you’re planning on doing the main game, but I look forward to the day when that it has a speedrun even close to the level of quality on display here. I know it will probably be a while since routing out the upgrades will be rather difficult, but still I’m excited. Also this whole video was crazy, just the pace at which you moved was well beyond what I thought might be feasable this early into the game’s lifespan.
I got the last ship part from the Man-at-Legs (on top of the island in Hero's Hideaway) during the last 90 seconds of the 15th day. I know I could've gotten it done SO much faster, but honestly, I'm just happy that I got it done. Especially since I can now do the Trials of the White Sage and win the White and Purple Onions.
Did you notice that in the loading screens, the bottom text colors resemble an ice pikmin? The titles are yellow like the flowers, and the text is light blue. Cool detail
Staying true to pikmin 1 speedrunning, you really can beat the whole game in under an hour. I guess in this case a challenge but still a remade mode of the original. Congrats on your time!

I'm not a speedrunner, but I do know that at 20:59 you can skip all the enemies and grab the part, the magma slugs (whatever they're called) don't interrupt the Pikmin transporting it either, just thought it was worth pointing out
Didn't know bomb rocks destroyed jars. With that in mind you can get 20/30 parts and all but 1 onion without Moss because I missed Moss on my first run and got up to 18/30 parts and with the knowledge that you can 100% the first zone means you can bump it up to 20. Not like dogless runs are going to be popular but it was an interesting view on 4's gameplay without one of the main mechanics
Can we just take a second to appreciate how Nintendo basically remade the entire first Pikmin game and put it in this game for us? Like they did not have to do that at all and yet they did. Legends.
They didn't basically remake the entire first Pikmin game, so no. All of this takes place on the Pikmin 4 maps and has nothing from Pikmin 1 in it. It is a fun extra mode that they didn't have to include, so props for that. But not for remaking the entire first Pikmin game, because they factually did not do that.
Olimar: For all my Dandori, I still crashed... all thanks to Moss. But hey, at least now I remember where all my parts landed, and my life support's fixed now! Come on, Moss - time to fix 'er up again!
Doing the no deaths in a Pikmin game is really hard to do but Pikmin 4 ended up being surprisingly easy to beat that common challenge especially in Olimar's Shipwreck Tale mode which i already did in my third playthrough of the game
Really awesome to watch. Just FYI 23:18 , you don't have to wait for the pellet posy to turn the right color in order to get blue pikmin. A blue pikmin can carry a red/yellow pellet and it will still generate a blue seed.
also FYI if you use Moss/Oatchi to transport corpses, it will give you the color of Pikmin you have the least amount of. Might help get you some extra blues in area 2.

I got 25 hours to 100 percent the game! But yeah, speed runners shouldn't have to do that lol
For Olimar's story you should be able to rewind back to day 1.

They didn't basically remake the entire first Pikmin game, so no. All of this takes place on the Pikmin 4 maps and has nothing from Pikmin 1 in it. It is a fun extra mode that they didn't have to include, so props for that. But not for remaking the entire first Pikmin game, because they factually did not do that.
@@mjc0961 they made it pretty much the same as pikmin 1..? Sure the maps are different but you use the same pikmin and olimar’s goal is the same

Doing the no deaths in a Pikmin game is really hard to do but Pikmin 4 ended up being surprisingly easy to beat that common challenge especially in Olimar's Shipwreck Tale mode which i already did in my third playthrough of the game

Really awesome to watch. Just FYI 23:18 , you don't have to wait for the pellet posy to turn the right color in order to get blue pikmin. A blue pikmin can carry a red/yellow pellet and it will still generate a blue seed.
same color increases the amount of pikmin you get

also FYI if you use Moss/Oatchi to transport corpses, it will give you the color of Pikmin you have the least amount of. Might help get you some extra blues in area 2.
