When in history was it that Russia was a real ally to armenia?

Mid 90s until pashinyan came to power. They were a military ally and Armenia's economy us still over 80 percent tied to Russia. It may not be a true ally. But it's a dependency of a makeshift ally

@@xavierlaflamme8773 russia has been pretending to be an ally while selling armenians out to the turks for centuries. It's no different today

These high level analysis is pointless. We all know, even if some of us deny. Time and energy would be better spent on individuals and groups doing good for Armenias residents. Or better yet, investigate journalism.

There are a few fundamental flaws in the argument:
    (1) He mentions that “Russia is not only indispensable, but irreplaceable”
This argument is based on the assumption that only regional powers can play a role in Armenia. There are numerous examples in the world deviating from this model - Taiwan is one prominent example - so it’s unclear why that should be the case for Armenia, especially in the 21st century.
    (2) He mentioned that “United States is not interested in the region”.
I strongly disagree with this statement. As simple count of the number of high ranking officials who have visited Armenia - Nancy Pelosi being the most prominent one - is sufficient to prove the point.
    (3) He paints a very rosy and almost nostalgic picture of the Soviet Union, with no mention of hundreds of thousands Armenians who died in the gulags of Siberia or the Second World War.
There’s more to add to the list, but I think this is sufficient for now.

When Armenia can create wealth for foreign oligarchs, it will gain foreign attention. Until then, it will not be easy.

Historian and political scientist Ronald Suny's views are uncommon and straight to the point. Assessing options for what is possible is the opposite to wish fulfilment. Definition of wish fulfilment - "the satisfying of unconscious desires in dreams or fantasies" (Oxford).

Problem is russia provides more to armenia in terms of economic ties and military intervention than western allies do. The analysis is accurate. No matter how ugly the message
