Where does wagyu beef come from? We visited the birthplace of wagyu beef, Tottori Prefecture, and found some of Japan’s rarest beef for less than $5! It's so rare, only 10 of these wagyu gyudon (beef bowls) are sold every day!

▶︎About Tottori Beef:
Did you know that Tottori was the first prefecture in Japan to start registering wagyu beef (that’s the kind of beef that is massaged and sung to)? But Tottori’s special wagyu A5 beef only accounts for 0.7% of all of Japanese wagyu beef! It’s so rare because the prefecture focuses on the quality and not quantity of meat produced. Tottori Prefecture’s clean air and vast open spaces also means that the wagyu beef produced in Tottori doesn’t actually need to be massaged because the cows are so stress-free! This also leads to a very special kind of wagyu - known as Tottori Olein 55 (鳥取 オレイン55) - that is especially juicy as at least 55% of the fat is made up of oleic acid (the same stuff that’s in olive oil), making Tottori’s beef superior in taste and health properties than other wagyu beef around the country - it’s so good, it even won the Wagyu Olympics! But that also means that Tottori beef is the most expensive beef in Japan at auction, so to find it for less than $5 is seriously lucky!
▶︎What else can you do in Tottori Prefecture?
Rare beef is not all Tottori has to offer. TIL: There is a desert in Japan. Kind of..
Join us for our 1 day travel vlog to Japan’s only “desert”, the Tottori Sand Dunes, where you can take camel rides, sandboard and more! This is Japan as you’ve never seen it before! If you’re searching for what to do in Tottori when you visit, watch to see our first impressions of the sand dunes and our genuine wagyu beef taste test in Western Japan!

Well done, that looked amazing!!
Thank you, it was! 😍
The dunes looked like an incredible landscape. Well done on managing to get to the restaurant in time for the special beef. I love how Bear never hides his joy and enthusiasm for eating.
The man lives to eat 😆. Hopefully his excitement helps everyone to understand just how good the food is haha
I feel like you can basically have every environment in Japan in some place, it is actually crazy. That is amazing value and it did look so good and yummy.
Amazing Japan🔴❤❤❤
It's mindblowing how different it can be.. and to think it's like -8 or something ridiculous in Sapporo rn too 😅 Japan is crazy but amazing haha ❤
@@OshareJapan 👍it's my dream Love this💞🔴❤❤❤
What a sight of the vast sand dunes! Also enjoyed the interesting Tottori wagyu facts! Beef bowls looked amazing especially with your delicious "shoku repo"...👍
Thank you! Tottori was definitely more impressive (and tasty!) than either of us had anticipated!
You guys definitely need to make a vlogmas series for the holiday season!
We may have a little something planned 👀🤫
Thank You for coming to tottori
Thank you for having us! 🥰
Hello🙋 great!! I like the new video
Thank you😃👌✌
The desert was absolutely beautiful! It makes me want to travel out west again. The desert is just very pretty. 💕💕
That beef looks so delicious I'm kind of jealous lol
Can't wait to see where your adventures take y'all next! Stay safe out there!
It was the first like that either of us had ever seen! The variety of landscapes in the US just blows my mind though, I'd love to see American sand dunes someday! 💕
@@OshareJapan omg I think the prettiest part of the desert out west are the rock formations. They are unique in that you can see the layers and how erosion hit them differently. ^^ Planning a trip out there soon hopefully. Undecided about car camping but it'd most certainly be cheaper.
Thank y'all for sharing that experience, it really made my day to see the dunes - brought a big smile to my face.
Loved the Pokémon bus! What a cool place! Too bad the weather wasn’t in your favour.
I totally lost my mind seeing it 😂. Ah, Japan ❤ haha
good👍👍👍
if I were a local, I would be up for the beef bowl very regularly. $5 is a bargain.
If I were a local, I'd probably look like a beef bowl by now 🤰😅
I would totally have slid down that sand dune on a surfboard or sled 🐔🐓🐓🐔
Wishing we’d bought more than just our butts up the dunes 😂
I am mind-blowing that the price of an expensive wagyu beef is so cheap, looking divine too.
Besides the Gegege no Kitaro town, the sand dunes of Tottori look massive, not ready to ride on a camel yet.
I'm impressed you know about the Gegege no Kintaro town! 😮 Tottori is full of really cool surprises!
I wouldn't have been able to stay in the van, I'd have lined up and stood out in the cold.
We were absolutely chomping at the bit counting the seconds until it opened 😂
❤❤🇬🇧🇬🇧👍🏽
Bargain!
