    We travelled to Kyoto by the sea for the first time by van to taste test the most unique sake in Japan!
    Join us for our 1 day travel vlog to Kyoto’s “Bridge in Heaven” (天橋立, “Amanohashidate”), which is one of Japan’s top 3 scenic views (The Three Views of Japan (日本三景, “Nihon Sankei”) and to Ine (伊根), the rural fishing village in northern Kyoto by the Sea of Japan to try the rare red sake, Ine Mankai (伊根満開, “Ine in Full Bloom”), brewed by a female sake brewer (known as a 酒杜氏, “sake toji”) in Japanese).
    This is a really unknown side of Kyoto and finding a female sake master is incredibly rare in Japan! In fact, Mukai Brewery in Ine, Kyoto is the first sale brewery in Japan to have a female head brewer, and her red sake was even served to world leaders at the Osaka Japan G20 Summit in 2019! The red sake made from “ancient rice” (古代米) is just as unique as the brewery itself and is supposed to taste like rosé wine.
    If you’re searching for what to do in Kyoto when you visit, watch to see our best Kyoto travel recommendations and our first impressions and sake review after drinking red sake for the first time in Japan!

    伊根の食材と一緒にいただくのが一番おいしい飲み方だと思いました。
    相変わらず先行き不透明な世の中ですが健康、安全に気を付けて充実した旅を満喫してください。

    What a great video! Is it the kind of rice used that makes the sake red? Why is it so rare?

    • @OshareJapan
      @OshareJapan  Год назад +1

      Thank you! 😊 the rice they use is “ancient rice”, a kind of red wild rice! It’s the only brewery in Japan that uses it because the head brewer thought up the idea as part of her University thesis 😅 (shocking to think it hadn’t been tried before though!)

    I saw in a video about restaurants and hospitality places in Kyoto that will not accept admission of customers unless the customer has dined there before and will only send out the bill months later refusing to settle the bill ob the spot (which sounds like a totally messed up business model) - is this true of your experience of places in this city?

    • @OshareJapan
      @OshareJapan  Год назад

      Oh absolutely not, Kyoto is generally really hospitable, though there may be some high-end places like that which we can’t afford to find out about 😅😂. The closest thing to that level of exclusivity I’ve seen is snack bars (local old man karaoke spots) where they have their own bottle of alcohol behind the bar haha. Oh, and one place in Nakano in Tokyo that forbids people who can’t speak Japanese from entering 🙃. Otherwise nope! 😅
