Thanks for the shared knowledge! I tried a similar project but Lightburn gave me 100 hours before the project was done. We have identical fiber lasers and I used your settings, but 256 passes take a significant amount of time. The only difference was that the beam goes diagonally on your laser while with mine is horizontal.
The tumbler is great. I’ve used one for years. But store the pins and plastic bin off the tumbler. Over time they will magnetize and stop working as well.
Also, occasionally clean the pins by adding a 1/4 tsp of Lemishine Citric acid crystals (Dish washing Isle at the grocer) crystals to the tumble cycle. It will brighten the pins to look like new.
Very cool. I know ex-airforce guys love their coin collections and will have small custom batches made for whatever club or event they may want them for. I could see that being a little niche to cover. Those are often painted as well. Great results on the coin you did!
Hello, thank you for the great tutorial! Could you tell us what format photo do you save from DepthR to be able to angrave with laser? Stl or png? Thanks
Yes, you probably just need to mirror your depth map so your lights (high points) are dark and vice versa … and if it’s going to be a die/stamp, you’d need a to reverse the image so that it “reads wrong”.
This is such a cool use case for small batch or one-off coins! A couple questions, if you don't mind? 1. For a one-off coin such as this in the video, if you were to sell it, what would your estimated price be? 2. Would you consider doing similar customer jobs for custom one-off coins, similar to this? 3. I saw mention in your videos and descriptions that you have an Etsy store, but couldn't readily find a link to it. Would you mind sharing the link here? Thanks!
Immoral to sell it, imo. Midjourney uses datasets illegally scraped from the internet. So it is in fact stealing from artists. If you're going to make a production item to sell, pay an artist to make a design for you. You'll more than make up your cost anyways if it's a good product..
