This is the style of video I think a lot of us look for. More of a how to step by step without the assumption that we already somewhat know how to do this. Please keep ‘em coming!!!
definately like the detailed step-by-step approach. You got the correct level of explaining LightBurn. I hate the videos that treat experienced LightBurn users as if they were just beginners.
Given the content this is a very short and compact video. There are creators out there that would take 45 mins to explain the same. You sir are on point and I salute you.
I’ve done a few of these. I saw the video from Troec also. Do you adjust the inlay for the kerf? I’ve done 1/2 the kerf for a tighter fit. Love the process.
Actually didn't mess with the kerf at all, since I wasn't actually cutting the pieces out I was thinking the kerf wouldn't come into play, but testing it out would be a good idea.
Did you not have to mirror the veneer layer in Lightburn? Both layers are facing the same direction in lightburn, but the veneer layer was reversed on the machine, which allowed you to glue the bookmatched layers together.
After watching several of your videos, I decided to change from the Mira 9s to the Thunder 63 130w, thank you. I will no longer have to wait 4 to 6 months to receive my laser. What setting would I use to do the same as in this video with the Mova 63 130w? I will only pay 2,500 dollars more for the largest Thunder laser instead of the other company, great change and fewer days instead of months of waiting
wow I loved it, this is a great idea, although it could only be done with the Trotec Rubi software, great I hope you make many more, could you put the laser parameters in a pdf, Can this be done with all laser machines?
Would like to see this done on the new 1one laser. I have one on order to do this exact same thing and would love to know if it actually works and what settings to use.
Definitely like this style of video especially on the laser. I have a Thunder 35 100watt I use to cut acrylic. It's a shame to leave it setting 90% of the time. I'm good with a CNC not so good with the laser. I could use some help with the co2 laser.
I'm surprised there were no kerf adjustments shown. How was that accounted for? Unless inverting the image took care of it. Step by step is the best video!
I liked the long format. However I don’t know how you managed to get that intricate design to line up when glueing them together because you couldnt see what you were lining up,
Been looking for this exact tutorial for a while now! Thank you. Could you maybe walk through how to do this in xtool creative space for those of using that on our P2 lasers?
Good idea. I'm going to head over to my local HVAC guy and see if I can get a sample of the tape before I spend the money for an entire roll. About how deep is your inlay? I'll be using a 10/30W diode laser and will need to do a materials test to get the correct depth.
Probably about 1/8 in, just deep enough for the thickness of the veneer. You can run multiple passes so you don’t have to have it all dialed in from the beginning.
@@makeorbreakshop Sounds good. I was able to score a TON of veneers from a woodworker who was downsizing in my area. The price was great and I got an awesome variety of wood species. I've already used some of it to cut out a name or design and glue it over the original design. When I saw your method of using inlays I thought it was genius. Thanks for the idea.
I totally missed putting in the part about mirroring the veneer! Make sure and do that so they fit, sorry!
Im glad you said that, the whole time I was thinking "Dont you have to flip the inlay horizontally?"
Definitely an important step.
I’m so happy you said that 👍
When in the steps should you do the flip?
@torymiddlebrooks just before doing the engrave on the veneer

That was an excellent presentation thank you very much. And yes I would like to see more of these very helpful.
super interesting. Love it. Thanks
Love it ❤ I actually was wondering about the mirroring but then saw it in the comments. Made me feel not that stupid😊😂
The stupid is all on me, sorry about that!
Enjoyed this! Would love to see more like this!
I like these style videos.
Awesome, I love this style of video
Another great tutorial 👍
Definitely interested in more veneer inlays.
Thanks!

I need to try this! I only have a Snapmaker with a 40W laser, so maybe I won't be able to get it to work, but I think it might!
Would totally work with that!
You got a big FU Penn and Teller trophy from me. I thought you had to mirror. Glad you clarified in the comments.
Really like these style videos!🙂
Dope looking forward to trying this thank you
Yes I’m into this long style tutorial video!

Yes, he mentioned in a comment that he forgot to include it in the video.
Yeh sorry I forgot to include it!
Absolutely interesting stuff
Love this video! Do more please!!
Very helpful ! Love the video
Great video on this. Subbed.

You can do this with any software on any machine. You just need enough laser power to do a deeper engrave.
@@makeorbreakshopI'm about to buy the Mira 9s, can I do it with it?

Very nice. Never used the Center of the wood as origin. Saves a lot of framing time. Would you make a cutting board this way?
thank you for showing the fact that the laser vaporizes the negative artwork that is inlaid in ..couldnt find that info anywhere!
more of these videos!
will do!
how can you peferctly along the veneer to the piece of wood? It seems impossible to have all the details ... but you did. How. (Great video)
that is the hardest part. But the roller really comes in handy. You basically just keep pressing on it and it eventually slots into place.
Nice. What about using bigger kerf and a ramp effect in order to achieve a more CNC-like inlay?
Will do!
It's an interesting method
I'm surprised there were no kerf adjustments shown. How was that accounted for? Unless inverting the image took care of it. Step by step is the best video!
Since I’m not actually cutting out the image you don’t need a kerf adjustment, it’s a picture engrave that takes that into account.
Yes more 👊🏻💪🏻
I definately appreciate a longer video to explain things in detail😅
Good to know!
I may have missed this but, I assume you did this, did you spread the glue over the whole engraving before adding the inlay?
I did, didn't record it though (my fingers were covered in glue), sorry about that!
Good idea. I'm going to head over to my local HVAC guy and see if I can get a sample of the tape before I spend the money for an entire roll. About how deep is your inlay? I'll be using a 10/30W diode laser and will need to do a materials test to get the correct depth.

Any adjustment for kerf needed?
not for me. I think since this is in an engrave versus a cut along a line the kerf is already accounted for in the fill.
cool vid thanks for making it..
Great video thank you! Could you share what glue you used? It seems to be very fast curing and I'm interested 😁
Maybe a darker veneer on a lighter wood would have a little more contrast. That said, I think it looks good. Job well done.
good call!
