Canon R5C in 2024 - The Only TRUE Hybrid Camera?

- The Canon R5C is an incredible camera. I have had the Canon R5C for the last year and have used it all over the world. I shoot both photos and videos on the Canon R5C and absolutely love them. So, is the Canon R5C the best hybrid camera and if not what is the best hybrid camera?

I own the R5c and personally i love it so much and the only two things that i hate about it is that it doesn’t have CLog 2 and the battery but for the battery i found a solution you just use a battery grip and it will solved all of my problems and I’m loving the camera ever since ❤️
you have c log, but only in raw

get an external battery and it fixes the problem for video.

I'm (hobby- )running gun video maker so I was just wondering how you experienced filming with the R5C plus the 28-70 , f.2.0 without IS?
And how did you experience taking pictures with the C5RC and without the IS?
Thanks dude! It is a struggle, however the digital IS does a good job for video and for photos, the shutter speed has got to stay high. It's also mega heavy 😅
I was just about to be completely happy, but then the battery complaint came. If you take pictures, the internal battery is just fine. If you want to shoot professionally who the hell expects a professional setup to be able to run on a small battery? Most cameras that it competes with similarly need external battery V-mount or something similar as we see it with RED or Blackmagic. Here you have a perfect hybrid camera and there are solutions to this problem. Otherwise top quality YT video.
Great video.. have one as my B camera to my C70 and an R3 for photos.. its great with EF lenses also…
If you need the speedbooster on the C70 and the ND adaptor for the R5C then its both EF :) and then both cameras has ND filters behind the lenses.. and are “full frame”
Are you using the latest firmware with power saving mode on? I get 65 + mins continuous recording time with a fully charged LP-E6NH battery.
My problem is I have never owned a camera & have no idea how to “use” a camera beyond just point and click, I don’t want an entry camera that is easy for amateurs because I would have to upgrade at some point in the future, I would use it to start getting into travel cinamatic creations but the problem with this camera is it just looks so complex.
Which one would you recommend between the Canon R5C and Sony FX6?

6:05 R5 C fits on my RS2 and w/ a Tilta Advance Ring, you can power everything off an external battery.
Can't wait to upgrade to the r5c! I've been using the rp for video and r for photos and the 24-105 f4 and 50mm f1.2/100-400mm for photos
I absolutely love this camera, you are forgetting one of the most annoying things from it tho... the lack of wireless on video mode... it makes it very annoying to work in a professional enviroment without the possibilities of changing things by the focus puller
Have you updated it? With powersave mode you’ll get like 80minutes ish with it.
Can anyone plz suggest should I buy canon r5c or Nikon z8 for filmmaking and I quality bug should have more quality and detailed video (if bought the camera for next 9 years I won’t buy any camera)
Im getting this camera as a B camera for a C70.
For me, the use of external power is a no go because one of the main reasons I’m getting this it’s to save my back from oblivion. I don’t plan to rig this one at all.
Carrying a rigged C70 for hours (I do events and weddings) has destroyed my back.
So I’ll use this camera for gymbal use and general shooting during the day, I guess I’ll have to carry 4-7 batteries with me, I’ll see what happens.
Also, it’s important to mention that I also do photography, I’m updating my 1DX2 with a single purchase.
I have played with its CLOG3 4K non raw 10 bit files and if you are wondering how does it go against a C70 the answer is: It’s fine. You don’t get to have that level of recovery and color management but it’s not as bad as I read people complain about the lack of CLOG2. Totally great for most jobs.

Hey Zac if I’m looking for a cinema camera to upgrade (currently have the r5 but the overheating suuuucks and I’m also looking for more of a movie quality) am I better off going with a c70 or c300 mark iii - I do photography as well so that’s the only bummer but I do want to up my video quality on jobs - thanks appreciate any help/advice ☺️

No and no.
If any person using cameras, also religiously follows camera tech, then NO camera is going to 'last' a long time before it's 'time to upgrade/switch'.... Content should be King, but so many get caught up on the 'latest tech; to the point where they almost forget about content (which is why you should be using a camera in the first place).
I would normally agree but there’s a list of features we’ve been checking off since 2000… 24p… 35mm and up sensor… slow mo… 4:2:2 color space… 4k seems to be the perfect output resolution… and a stacked sensor with 15+ stops DR and global shutter would be all you could ever need.

You’re spot on but when you’re shooting in the field you don’t notice much of or any difference
