    Just want to correct the dual native ISO statement. The R5 does have a dual native ISO, but was just never advertised. The R5C has the exact same sensor so both share that same dual native ISO. You can also leave the lens cap on, turn peaking on, and see the R5 clean up when you go up to 3,200 ISO.

      I know that with many Canon cameras the full ISOs are cleaner than the 1/3 stops. On the R6 II for example, ISO 3200 is cleaner than ISO 2500. ISO 6400 is cleaner than ISO 5000, etc. I know a few RUclipsrs have pointed this out (applies to photos and video) so I always shoot at 100,200,400,800,1600,3200, 6400, 12800 and rarely in between.

    Not sure if anyone already mentioned this, but it's important to note that the dual base ISO of the R5C is 800/3200 in LOG. Otherwise it's 400/1600

    "Netflix Approved" means nothing. It's only a factor in ORIGINAL SCRIPTED shows, whereas docuseries work you can use any source and any kind of media to put it together as long as you output to specific specs for the conform / online. I've done a ton of Netflix series now using media from some janky ass sources. If you're working on a SCRIPTED show, you won't be shooting on anything other than RED or ALEXA anyway.

    The R5 also has two base isos, 800 and 3200. You can see the noise lowering once you hit 3200 from 2500.

    Almost the perfect camera. The only thing makes me worried about getting the r5c is the horrible video autofocus, as a traveller sometimes I need a run and gun style af system. What do you think, would you use the r5c for example in a safari trip w rf100-500?

    • @Zacthephotographer
      @Zacthephotographer 9 месяцев назад +1

      The video autofocus is fine for video, so long as you can maintain +1.5 stops above 0EV (i always shoot RAW or Log. Give it plenty of light and you won't have an issue. No issues whatsoever in photo mode

  • @avx111
    @avx111 9 месяцев назад +3

    Canon was so close to making a perfect camera with the R5C, except for a few dumb mistakes: micro HDMI, no wireless function in video and the back wheel doing nothing in video mode. But the image is so good. Check out Josh Satin's videos, he makes a very in depth comparison with the FX3. Basically the the highlights are much nicer on the R5C, that's what makes it look more "filmic"

    • @airbazoo

      Absolutely agree with this comment. Soooo close, but in my opinion this is as perfect of a camera you can get rn.

    • @ralaningalls
      @ralaningalls 3 месяца назад

      The micro HDMI (and I'll add, the battery life) are pretty annoying, but I'm hopeful the absence of wireless control in video mode is fixed with a future firmware update much like they're addressing the issue of not being able to customize the wheel on the back in a firmware update in the coming months.

    I got the R6 II because it fixes a lot of the R5 issues and it's way cheaper. Better in low light, much better AF (especially in low light), focus peaking, false colour, better battery life, full frame oversampled 4k60, and no record limit.
    The only minus is that there is no 4k120... and dynamic range is a bit worse I'd say, though in real life it probably won't make a difference. It's no R5c but for the price it is fantastic as a hybrid.

    Question: I work in motorsport and considering to buy either the r5c or de r6 mark II. I just tested the r5c and one thing that i don‘t like is the video to photo switch. It takes just to long as in motorsport everything happens so quickly.
    do you recommend the r6 II ?
    (cause the video footage of the r5c looked incredible)

    • @airbazoo

      R6 MII is an amazing camera! If you have the budget for I would look at the R3 for Motocross because the Autofocus on the R5C is similar to the C70 a bit slower to lock on, but once locked in it never lets go!

  • @AlexUtreras

    I came from the 5DIV and I switched to the R5 and I also had problems with the IBIS, accustomed to only using the IS of the lens, always working with monopods, the IBIS that does not respond very well when using the camera leaning on something. But, when used with RF IS lenses it is a pleasure to use handheld, you don't need a gimbal. And to use only for photos on walks or to go more unnoticed, accompanied by a small lens it is really a pleasure to use. And in video, it's true, there isn't that much information on skin tones, I use an old C100II as a second camera and I feel like the skins always look better. How are the batteries? Something that has been criticized a lot for the R5C, but many times the criticism is half exaggerated, now in the R5 they perform extremely well.

    • @airbazoo
      @airbazoo  9 месяцев назад +1

      Absolutely agree with this comment. The battery life is lower than the R5 for sure but totally depends on what you shoot and your style. Most of my shooting is run and gun so for me no issues at all as I’m recording in bursts for short periods of time.

    Tested and saw videos of the newest firmware shifting the image a lot more magenta. Compared to my C70, I have a hard time with its image. The C70 image looks really natural & filmic, the R5C has some really strong odd saturations in red/blue/green. Skin tones aren’t as good. I shoot both in RAW usually. I really wish they were closer.

    • @vincentn6347
      @vincentn6347 8 месяцев назад

      Haven't noticed the magenta, will have to check. How's editing in RAW? Do you have to use proxies?

    • @TJ-po9ol
      @TJ-po9ol 8 месяцев назад

      No proxies, I have a 3090, put timeline in 2k or 4k DCI for editing. I just tested the C70 RAW LT vs R5C RAW LT side by side with a model and the C70 was quite a bit nicer. If I pushed the R5C footage at all, it started falling apart in the shadows with color banding (red & green vertical). I reduced the tint (more green) on the R5C footage and did a color boost of +10 and the R5C footage looked closer to the C70, but skin tones weren't as advanced as the C70 (simpler colors in skin tones, looked flatter). @@vincentn6347
