Beautiful. One of my favorite hymns. "Other refuge have I none, Hangs my helpless soul on Thee!"
I much appreciate this a capella singing.......thank you very y much for posting. ................from Vancouver canada
*Jesus, Lover of My Soul*
1. Jesus, lover of my soul,
Let me to Thy bosom fly,
While the nearer waters roll,
While the tempest still is high.
Hide me, O my Savior, hide,
Till the storm of life is past;
Safe into the haven guide;
O receive my soul at last.
2. Other refuge have I none,
Hangs my helpless soul on Thee;
Leave, ah! leave me not alone,
Still support and comfort me.
All my trust on Thee is stayed,
All my help from Thee I bring;
Cover my defenseless head
With the shadow of Thy wing.
3. Thou, O Christ, art all I want,
More than all in Thee I find;
Raise the fallen, cheer the faint,
Heal the sick, and lead the blind.
Just and holy is Thy name,
I am all unrighteousness;
False and full of sin I am;
Thou art full of truth and grace.
4. Plenteous grace with Thee is found,
Grace to cover all my sin;
Let the healing streams abound;
Make and keep me pure within.
Thou of life the fountain art,
Freely let me take of Thee;
Spring Thou up within my heart;
Rise to all eternity.
While I was studying in The States, I attended several times a large Church of Christ congregation in Jackson, MS. And they sang acapella all their hymns.
I led singing in the Church of Christ in Montrose Colorado. Nothing as uplifting as the human voice singing the praised of our Lord.
These wonderful videos are a heaven-sent blessing for me.
Just wonderful! Just absolutely wonderful, just voices, not ORGAN or PIANO. Just wonderful! The harmony is excellent!
Nanny used to play this on the piano for me.....my favorite. LOVE this acapella version
I love acappella singing. I was in a baptist choir some years ago and they, like all now, pick the best singers for praise teams and the choir is often left out. It was sad. Like someone said here also, most of the congregations let the choirs sing or if they sing it is half heartedly. Here everyone sings from the heart. Very refreshing not to hear drums banging and electric guitars, but just the pure worship of the voice. Lastly, to see the close ups of the women and the pure looks on their faces was a blessing. This is the true beauty of Christ shining through these Godly people.
Not to mention the decibel level of rock music in these contemporary churches. Most people in a secular sense may go to a rock concert possibly a few times in their whole lives. But these young people in these churches hear this loud rock music once or twice a week. Imagine this for 20 - 50 years! By the time they reach age 50 or so they will be totally deaf! Somehow I don't believe that is what God had in mind.
So meaningful and true in our lives. God bless whoever listen ❤
As I was praying, I had this song in mind especially in this tune which we sing in Zambia. I am truly blessed by this song. This song really ministers to me.
I love and miss singing with our congregation. That period of church life is almost no more. Praise God for those who bring us back to music that ministers to us in a deep and memorable way. God is Still on the throne.
Oh, the memories (of "singings", as we called them, in my youth -- but also at church [Old Order German Baptist / Dunkard) -- but, of course, Oh the sweet grace of God's abundant mercy. "Thou oh Christ art all I want....thou art all my righteousness." Amen and amen, yea thrice "Amen!" -- Thanks so much to whomever thanks is owed for this lovely record of singing at it's best, the old way, the old song.
J. A. Cover I was raised German Baptist, since then I’ve been attending another church, but I miss ‘singings’ so much! They were the highlight of my childhood
This song is a peace to soul ..
Lovely harmonies. Thanks
Pure and wonderful voices singing glory to God, oh how wonderful...God is real, we should thank him!!!! Amen!!!!
Aaaawwww Wow this brings tears, so good too hear good singing and see a few faces I know, would love to be there
Thanks for this beautiful hymn. Many Korean Christians do love this hymn too.
Diese Lieder sind ein Segen, denn sie ehren den Herrn. Dort würde ich gerne einmal sein. Herzliche Segensgrüsse aus Deutschland
Our parents and grandparents and even us as children’s was race with this kind of music in our churches and when we hear them again is taching our hearts and remind us our first Christians that are long gone and one day we will see them again and we will worship together our God and Savior 🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏
My favorite hymn of all time! Beautifully sung!!
If this hymn doesn't bring a tear to the eye, I don't know what will.
Praise the LORD! Hugs and prayers from Brasil. Come down here and sing!
Thanks for uploading a heart touching song with excellent lyrics and tunes which always fills my eyes with joyful tears everytime i tune in to
Beautiful song and singing,
From south India,2021 July
I am an Irish man, and I "do" apologise for the way he was treated.but what wonderful music and harmony I hear before me,I love music like this in adoration,....
Who?
Singing ... great congregational singing has long become a lost art. With the band blazing and soloists taking the stage, there is no need any more for great congregational singing. Sensational!!!!! WOW!!!!!
Charles Wesley was preaching in Ireland when he was attacked by a mob. He escaped to a farmhouse where the farmer's wife hid him in the dairy. She offered refreshment to the mobsters, and while they were eating she let Charles Wesley out through a window outside which there was a ditch where he could hide until it was safe to move on.. It was while he was in the ditch that he wrote these words.
john hopkinson Thanks for giving some historical context for this song John!
Must find more evidence of this♡♡
john hopkinson wow
Let us not treat those who come to us with an unfamiliar Bible truth as that mob treated Charles Wesley. We have to keep our minds open and prayerful when the "different" preacher comes to us as Charles and John Wesley came to the churches in their day--because many a time, they were not welcomed! And what became of the mob? Once they refused the light, it may not have been given to them a second time!
@@ElizabethStaeheli Elizabeth you should familiarize yourself with Irish history. Catholics and protestants murdered each other for 500 years. What we've done to each other is heartbreaking. Ireland has a terrible history of bloodshed . All of the mainstream churches particularly church of Ireland and Catholic church need to acknowledge to God the terrible things we've done. Then we should see a breakthrough in the spread of the Gospel in Ireland. May God have mercy on us.
Zu schön. Ihr singt mit Euren Herzen da geht Jesus nicht vorbei. Danke Gott segne Euch 🙏❤️🙏
Beautiful
Love hearing the children chirping in the background

I believe God was listening. ♡
Multiplied Blessings & Many Thanks from The Thompsons On Mission In Mindanao! 2 PETER 3:9
My grandparents were Thompsons......Scottish!
That was absolutely moving.
Wow.. absolutely stunning. I'm so impressed. Like a medicine for the soul!
I like this version also
A lot of churches I've attended the majority of the congregation can't carry a tune in a buckle. I've been to a couple of Mennonite services and have been blown away with every persons ability to sing. God is good......
+JD2CYLINDERNUT Good singing requires effort, and that's our goal in this ministry--to help people learn to sing well and to sing for God's glory and people's enjoyment and blessing.
When it's for God's glory, it should automatically be the enjoyment of the people. it should always be about pleasing God. anything short of that, leaves it all in vane.
I am part of the Old German Baptist Brethren New Conference fellowship and we sing all of our songs accepella
Go to any Polynesian church...
Now that's what I call REAL praise music
I love the way Mennonites sing. I attended one of their Bible colleges and the singing was much like this. Rarely do you hear this kind of singing among other Christian groups.
I think they should reintroduce this.
It's accapella, that's why.
@@ElizabethStaeheli It's also because they teach people HOW to sing.
What Mennonite bible college did you attend if you don’t mind me asking?
The Church of Christ also sings Acappella - no musical instruments. It is so beautiful to hear only voices uniting in harmony.
Heavenly!! What beautiful voices.
Absolutely nice & beautiful, praise to Lord.
May God bless the world.
Beautiful hymn beautifully sung. A blessing to my heart!
That’s congregational singing right there I tell ya.
Thank you for sharing. Your voices blessed me tonight in Tennessee. See you in Heaven!
BEAUTIFUL!
Prayers for the warrens in Knoxville Tennessee we always need prayers good singing
This song is so beautiful. I wish you would sing 100 songs and post them all to youtube. It is so hard to find good singing, and good hymns.
David Treibs We're planning to post more songs soon David. Glad you've enjoyed the ones posted so far!
And " Se Samonte" is a RUclips channel with acapella christian hymns
It's been 7 years, but you might try Sacred Harp. They sing the shape notes, then the song, all acapella. Nearer My God to Thee, 587, Cooper, 2012. ruclips.net/video/_CTlxFwXHAs/видео.html

Cariñoso Salvador (en español) uno de mis himnos favoritos, Dios les bendiga.
This is so beautiful. I would take this kinda singing over praise band singing anyday
Praise bands are so tacky
me also
@@oreocarlton3343 I TOTALLY AGREE
?the praise bands don't know music...same chords same sound...this country would be better off if we got back to this and our roots
Me too, beautiful
Amazing singing and all to the glory of God!
Thank you for posting.
Praise God ! Beautiful singing, Many Thanks for all your effort !
Wonderful !
beautiful...
Beautiful!
Videos with this singing are super hard to find and awesome! There is a few Amish funeral recordings on YT of this drone singing in Penn. German. They are truly magical and ancient! Would recommend!
Beautiful ! 🕊
They sing so beautifull.
Very lovely.
One of the sisters in this video could be my doppelgänger. It would be fun to meet her someday.
This is the version I’m familiar with.
Precioso himno
Hallelujah!
Amen, Haleluiah!
Beautiful. Usually in such a large group you don't hear such a variety of good voices. I'd never heard of SCMC, found out they are LDS. A wonderful church, and a wonderful people.
They are not LDS they are a mennonites they are from Holland(1700) original they broke away , because they they do not believe in child baptism which by the way is not in the Bible
Oops....thanks....
Mennonites
LDS??? 🤣
Favorite Wesley hymn!!! IMO, only hymn better than this is When I Survey the Wondrous Cross (by Watts). My favorite part is at 3:40. The lady closes her eyes and you can tell she is just in awe of what Christ has done for her:)
I love my JESUS
Danke Gott segne Euch. Danke welche Religion ist es?? Ich liebe Euren Gesang 🙏☀️🤗🙏
Es sind Wiedertäufer(Mennoniten). Sie glauben an die Bibel und an das Erlösungswerk des Herrn Jesus.
I believe this was one of Ellen White's favorite hymns. Such beautiful lyrics. Thank you for posting.
You all must search for this as part of "The Last Hymn": so, so heart-rending...
Joshua Not one of but her favourite.
I'd like to visit this fellowship ~ where ?

Nice head covering.
My hymn book has two versions of this song, one in 3/4 time and the other in 4/4 time. This version, in 3/4 time sounds much better.
Beautiful.
+Dr. Bill's Mountain Music - Appalachian Dulcimer Demo's Thanks for your encouragement. You have some great dulcimer pieces well--keep that up!
This question is open to anyone that knows: if I were to attend one of these singings, would I have to wear the head covering? If so, where would I get one? And would I have to dress like the women or just my Sunday best?
+squidgetpj92 You and anyone are very welcome to attend the hymn sing at the beginning of camp, with or without a head covering. For students who come to study at camp, we do request they wear a head covering.
Wie kann ich in Eure Gemeinde kommen??
That is John .D Martin and David Bercot isnt it?
I'm wondering who composed this arrangement? Is the score available for purchase?
Hi Jen, this is simply the hymn (see the sheet music here - hymnary.org/hymn/BH2008/167), but the song leader had the men sing verses 1 and 3 (they sang all four parts), and the women verse 2 (all four parts again). Then he just combined the men on all four parts and the women on all four parts for verse 4, resulting in the eight-part last verse.)
They don't maitained the solfa beat properly
That song is meant to be sung much faster but other than that it is great!!!!
Where are these people from?
Mountains of Virginia north of Harrisonburg.
Where is this and what denomination? We sing the same tune in the Baptist Church!
This is a community hymn sing as a part of the annual Shenandoah Christian Music Camp in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. It is a ministry serving the Anabaptist tradition. Men and women were placed into their separate parts, hence the segregated seating.
Ok cool! I love that hymn and was beautiful the way it was done! Is it open to any faith? I would love to have more information on it!
The hymn sing is open to anyone who wants to attend. The next one is Sunday, June 1, 2014 at 7:00 PM.
John: You may sing the same tune in the Baptist setting.....but I can assure you that typical Baptists do NOT sing in this fashion. In that setting, the only ones singing are the choir and the choir director while the rest yawn through it.
Of all the different melodies sung to this, this is my favorite...... It is also very nice to chord on the piano.
Why are all the men seated together?
Mennonites have men and women sit seperately.
Beautifully sung, but shouldn't you tell your faces how in love with Jesus you are?
Hey I see my cousin
Who are these people?
This is a group of Conservative Mennonite Christians.
@@SCMC thank you.
So beautiful !! No clanging and banging of musical instruments that seems to take away from sincere worship .
На русском языке этот гимн--Вот собрались мы опять,прославлять любовь Отца
Настоящие люди!!
