Riding and driving 41 years, done some extremely sketchy stuff and every time I got stopped ( even though when actually wasn’t being stupid) I just let myself get bollocked, yes sir no sir and I have no points on my license ever. First time I’ve seen that and such an easy mistake 😮 I’d be dead nervous riding off but hey how nice were those cops 👮♀️✅ look at ya now brilliant well done 👍
Not just "nice chaps" but they genuinely had concern for your personal safety as well as the law. We dont seem to see as much of that these days sadly. Nice blokes indeed and people you can respect.
I've always found cops to be reasonable IF, you're reasonable and maybe a bit humble with them. They aren't the same if you do something extreme but, normal things like a tricky intersection like that etc, they can be understanding and even helpful. I must admit I actually broke several laws over a couple of miles just today with an unmarked cop car right behind me. First I had been stuck behind 2 pretend police (2 lane traffic that pace each other going super slow blocking anyone from passing) in a 2 lane section with roadworks and a 40 kph speed limit because of them. First, at a set of lights I waited till the very last second to dive between them as we were pulling up so neither had time to close that gap (no indicator and lane splitting) then the instant the lights changed I blasted away at 30 kph OVER that speed limit to put a bit of distance between me and the 2 what I consider dangerous drivers yet the cop then got on my bum for several more miles while I kept a few kph above the speed limit but stopped for all traffic lights etc and I think they understood fully why I did what I did since they saw it all yet they ended up turning off without even saying a word. They saw that I wasn't being a hoon, I was simply avoiding a pair of dangerous idiots and making sure they didn't drive into me when that light changed and was just making sure they didn't catch up to and possibly do anything dumb after. Then saw that I was generally a law abiding sensible rider. I've had several face to face encounters with police that have gone well too, the only speeding fines over the last 20 years have been bloomin speed trap ones, and both of them were in my darned 4X4 wagon FFS! This is Queensland Australia BTW.
@@TheMissendenFlyer Exactly! They ARE normal human beings under the uniform and if you treat them as such and even treat them as if they are someone who's stopped to help you is the best comparison I can think of, pretty much as you did, they'll be just that. Antagonize them as so many do and YOU'RE the one who suffers the most for it. I've known so many fools who think they should always treat the cops as enemies and have wound up in constant troubles for it, yet most just don't learn.
Yeah, I was thinking the same. I’ve come across nice cops before, but the ones on this side of the pond tend to be more aggressive with ticketing & the like, though I imagine the guys that patrol the central areas of large cities in both countries are probably more used to dealing with a more ‘touristy’ crowd. It also seems like Andy may have scared them a little, since the one officer mentioned being worried that he was going to be hit & that prevented them from coming at him with a mind frame of giving a ticket.
Maybe, but there are still a lot of good coppers around. A lot depends on the CC and the attitude they wish to promote during interactions with the public.
While riding the brilliant Skyline Drive along the crest of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Shenandoah National Park an officer, pulled me over. I told him I knew exactly why he pulled me over. With a somewhat confrontational tone he said, “Oh yeah, why?” I replied, “To save you calling my family to say I’ve been killed.” For a long time he held my gaze, then nodded and wished me a good . . . and safe . . . ride.
I love to see positive interactions with the police more than the bad ones... Shows that those involved respect and serve the public the way they should and as such always gets respect back from me.
A very valuable lesson to take away with you. The Police were very polite and professional and explained the situation very well while understanding the issues with the traffic lights.
You know you’re a long term subscriber when you remember this first time round! Actually there with my mate last summer and said “remember when TMF got pulled here”!
I've been a long time subscriber but, I've never seen that video! These short, almost daily videos are awesome Andy! Can't wait to see the Japan series!

I've really enjoyed your output ever since...you are one of the few that I've remained subscribed to from the beginning.....thanks for all you do!
I’ve come across helpful and not so helpful road traffic police officers in my 52 years of driving motorcycles and cars. 2 standout moments one recently and one 40:years ago. Both incidents involved me receiving kind forgiving words and advice by Officers this went a long way to improving my road manners. Respect to the Men and Women in blue.
That was the first TMF video I watched, several years ago now... You corrected my assumption that RUclips motorcycle videos were maniacs screaming around doing wheelies! After subscribing, then Richy Vida and Teapot popped up on my recommendations feed and I've never looked back... Thanks for all the entertainment TMF and friends, long may it continue 👍😊
Been a subscriber for a bit over a year... absolutely love your content and look forward to it. I've never seen your viral clip before so thanks! Last time in London for me was 1982 when I participated in the Battersea Easter Parade :) Cheers from Texas!
Hey I remember that vlog, it was great to see London from a bike, so glad it was RUclips gold for you. Sorry but the triple sounds absolutely lovely at low revs. Cheers for the great content.
As a retired NY cop, when a motorist made an honest mistake, writing a ticket made no sense at all. Understanding and some compassion always was my guide. So happy to see the local Police making friends instead of the opposite! Now retired, my days are spent flying my plane and riding my T120. And of course, watching the Missenden flyer! Cheers sir.
You are very lucky. The only time I got pulled for "speeding" I had to show the officer that the speed limit was 10mph faster than he thought it was. He left with the words "well if you had been going any faster you would have been speeding".
Funny that you showed an old clip I haven’t been on your channel for some time after selling my bikes. Oddly I have never seen the original but RUclips offered me as nostalgia perhaps. Nice video 👍
All respect to those officers, so refreshing to see a couple of experienced police men taking the time to educate rather than fly off their handles and reprimand. An honest mistake dealt with fairly. No doubt, this was also part due to your own calm manner, politeness and willingness to hear them out. Keep up the good work and ride well :-)
Oh mate, such a superb video, i remember it well. Thank goodness all ended well and the officers were amazing too! For me, at this time, all your videos were such a huge influence. I even bought my first GS when you got yours, and took it all over the place, i guess the rest is history…..what a ride mate. I wish you many more virals…you so deserve them for your longevity and dedication to what we all love to do. As always, kind regards. Beans.
Maybe this video will make a million views with that thumbnail and title. LOL. Hopefully makes up for any lacks of views on those brilliant Museum videos. Really loved those and looking forward to Japan!
Gosh, what top chaps the police were. I’m from NZ and I had similar luck from a State Trooper in the US. 65 in a 35. They could have been aggressive / business like but instead took an understanding approach. Your guys there were fabulous.
Funny, I've been a follower of your materiale for years and this one slipped through my fingers. Boy'oh'boy the quality of the camera, we used to think that was good! Well, you deserve all the subscribers you have and more. Well done mr Flyer. Cheers!
You've been reading my silly comments for around 4 years now ! I hadn't seen that before ! It's does remind me why I stick to my bit of the home counties , 30 ish miles away from Central London.
I told you years ago when you just started, that motorcycle manufacturers would be looking to send you bikes all the time, because your good at what you do,you laughed and told me it wouldn’t happen, well it did happen, and you deserve the good luck, well done sir.
I remember watching that - I found your channel prior though, researching Triumph Street Triples. Seeing (and hearing) that bike again... good memories.
You are so similar to my CBT instructor in every way lol. Great stuff thanks mate. Good blokes those officers. Going to book the police course thing after I graduate to the big boys bikes.
I remember that one... - got pulled up in Cardiff in a hire car they really didn't even give me a warning - saw my Australian drivers license and were all "just remember we do things a bit different here, do what everyone else is doing and you'll usually be fine" (ironically my opinion of UK drivers is not high and basically thought I'd be safer doing exactly the opposite of what most people were doing) only been in London twice (though for several weeks each time) would have loved to have had a bike to get out and explore a few things outside of London but rental prices were not pleasant (over twice the price I'd paid in Germany per day) so it was Oyster and boots both times
I've had a very similar experience with the Police several times in my life. And like you I have ALWAYS found them to be exactly like these two chaps! Very friendly and polite! If you make an honest mistake then just ACCEPT IT!! We are all human and make mistakes from time to time! A bit of respect for them & being polite, goes a long way with them, as it does with us all no matter what job we do! I guarantee if you had been a prick to them for stopping you, you would of ended up paying for it! Thanks for sharing.
It'd be great if you could trace the two officers & have a catch up with them

Definitely always pays to be pleasant to the police I've been stopped a few times and never had a ticket, and have to say all the traffic cops ive come across have been fare to me ! Like Patrick Swayze said in the film roadhouse , just be nice 😂
Nice one. Former HWP officer here. Your attitude was great and the police reciprocated with a learning opportunity for you. Doesn’t always have to end up with a ticket. Well done Mate. 👍
Thankyou - and thanks for stopping by....
Riding and driving 41 years, done some extremely sketchy stuff and every time I got stopped ( even though when actually wasn’t being stupid) I just let myself get bollocked, yes sir no sir and I have no points on my license ever.
And I have actually learned so much from training and maturity of age that I cringe at myself when I think about my mistakes
Likewise mate, maturity is a wonderful thing,if I discovered it at the same time as most other people my life would have been so much easier, better late than never ;-)
@@dave8204 😂ditto
That is indeed the reason I watch your videos, in actual fact it's the only video I've watched every day and to be honest I've kind of obsessed over it ever since you uploaded it. You see, most of those views are actually mine because I have an ocd disorder, I even bought an apartment that overlooks the spot so that I can gaze at it for nostalgic satisfaction. I hope you get to read this comment, truly yours your biggest fan this is Stan.
My tea's gone cold would you believe it. Cheerio
Nice one Stan ;0) Have another brew....
First time I’ve seen that and such an easy mistake 😮 I’d be dead nervous riding off but hey how nice were those cops 👮♀️✅ look at ya now brilliant well done 👍
Well done to those two officers for taking a very practical & common-sense approach, and for the education. Bravo lads, top stuff !
Not just "nice chaps" but they genuinely had concern for your personal safety as well as the law. We dont seem to see as much of that these days sadly. Nice blokes indeed and people you can respect.
Remember watching the original blimey was it 12 years ago 🤦♂️ don’t think I’ve missed a TMF video since, keep up the good work matey. 👍🏻
Good man - thank you for your persistence!
Yes, I think in the main, these guys are pretty sensible, and if you’re reasonable with them they’ll be reasonable with you. Thanks for watching.
I've known so many fools who think they should always treat the cops as enemies and have wound up in constant troubles for it, yet most just don't learn.
your coppers seem to be much more laid back than our version over here! No agression and super chill! Nice job and glad you were safe most of all!!
Yes in the main they are good people - I've never had an issue with them.....
Respect to the metropolitan, that’s what’s lost in today’s policing, wouldn’t happen today you’d get a straight fine and probably frisked for drugs
Maybe, but there are still a lot of good coppers around. A lot depends on the CC and the attitude they wish to promote during interactions with the public.
TWELVE YEARS?! I can't believe it's twelve years since I first watched that video! (loyal viewer)
This is correct Policing! Excellent, friendly and professional ...great to see!
They go out in twos because one can write and nod can read you were lucky because you had two that 😂could read but could not write 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😊😊😊😊😊
While riding the brilliant Skyline Drive along the crest of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Shenandoah National Park an officer, pulled me over. I told him I knew exactly why he pulled me over. With a somewhat confrontational tone he said, “Oh yeah, why?” I replied, “To save you calling my family to say I’ve been killed.” For a long time he held my gaze, then nodded and wished me a good . . . and safe . . . ride.
What a bunch of sensible coppers. You were lucky to come across such respectable ppl!
What a refreshing change to see the police 'helping and educating' instead of coming on strong, and giving you a hard time.
Great to see.!
Brilliant!! Thanks to you and your mate for sticking with me!
I've been a long time subscriber but, I've never seen that video! These short, almost daily videos are awesome Andy! Can't wait to see the Japan series!
Glad to hear that!
I remember watching it first time round, TMF. Enjoyed it then and re-enjoyed it now! It was either shortly before or shortly after that I subscribed to your channel.
I've really enjoyed your output ever since...you are one of the few that I've remained subscribed to from the beginning.....thanks for all you do!
Wow - thank you David for staying the course!
As a local fellow biker biker down here in South Herts, your commentary and wisdom is always a welcomed watch.
Thank you!
Thank you Peter - appreciate the kind comment!
Been a subscriber for a bit over a year... absolutely love your content and look forward to it. I've never seen your viral clip before so thanks! Last time in London for me was 1982 when I participated in the Battersea Easter Parade :) Cheers from Texas!
Cheers Robert and welcome along!
Can’t believe this is 12years ago……that Street Triple still sounds just as epic!!
Like it. Going to watch more of this Gentleman's work....not many about! Peace be unto you.
Hey I remember that vlog, it was great to see London from a bike, so glad it was RUclips gold for you. Sorry but the triple sounds absolutely lovely at low revs. Cheers for the great content.
My pleasure!
Cheers sir.
Sound like the perfect retirement! 🤓
You are very lucky. The only time I got pulled for "speeding" I had to show the officer that the speed limit was 10mph faster than he thought it was.
He left with the words "well if you had been going any faster you would have been speeding".
Sometimes friendly advice has more impact on behaviour than punitive sanctions.
Kudos to the Officers.
Definately....
A thankyou from me to the Police who helped me in my motorcycling and motoring from a teenager to today. The Police here in this video were wonderful.
The best policing I have ever seen , well done to both sides not antagonising each other
My go to Chanel. I was pulled over 40 years ago on my Suzuki GS1000G. My side stand was down. Police spotted it. I was very grateful.
Funny that you showed an old clip I haven’t been on your channel for some time after selling my bikes. Oddly I have never seen the original but RUclips offered me as nostalgia perhaps. Nice video 👍
Welcome back!
Just had this one come up in my suggestions and as you say they were very reasonable, GLad it launched the channel!
Me too!
3:30 Left is green light. Straight forward is still red light. Arrows on bottom of light indicates lanes.
All respect to those officers, so refreshing to see a couple of experienced police men taking the time to educate rather than fly off their handles and reprimand. An honest mistake dealt with fairly.
No doubt, this was also part due to your own calm manner, politeness and willingness to hear them out.
Keep up the good work and ride well :-)
Thankyou!
Beans.
Thank you mate - always good to hear from you!
Maybe this video will make a million views with that thumbnail and title. LOL. Hopefully makes up for any lacks of views on those brilliant Museum videos. Really loved those and looking forward to Japan!
The purr and roar of the geniune Triple. Beautiful
This was my MR discovery video! Been with you ever since. Cheers from a fellow Boca Chocs need. 😎
Thank you for staying the course!
Fun memory. I saw that video a long time ago but I wasn’t aware of it’s significance or that it had so many views. The cops were so nice!
Gosh, what top chaps the police were. I’m from NZ and I had similar luck from a State Trooper in the US. 65 in a 35. They could have been aggressive / business like but instead took an understanding approach. Your guys there were fabulous.
Yes text book stuff!
Funny, I've been a follower of your materiale for years and this one slipped through my fingers.
Boy'oh'boy the quality of the camera, we used to think that was good!
Well, you deserve all the subscribers you have and more. Well done mr Flyer.
Cheers!
Thank you John - thought some would have missed this so worth a cheeky repeat....
I remember it well. I bet we have all do it at some time. Lucky boy. The bike gods smile on you that day.👍👍👍👍👍
You've been reading my silly comments for around 4 years now ! I hadn't seen that before !
It's does remind me why I stick to my bit of the home counties , 30 ish miles away from Central London.
Yes, much quieter out here....
You handled that perfectly, as did they. Evryone makes mistakes, being humble is a good way, without admitting fault obviously!
I remember first watching this with your old introduction as well that 675 still sounded awesome cannot believe how time as gone!!
Tell me about it John YOLO - get out there and do stuff!!
I'm a recent subscriber, so hadn't seen this video, you handled it well, just shows you being polite helps.
Exactly - got to pass the attitude test!
There’s a blast from the past. I remember you posting that one.
You’ve only relived it because you miss the Street Triple! 😎👍
You're right!
I told you years ago when you just started, that motorcycle manufacturers would be looking to send you bikes all the time, because your good at what you do,you laughed and told me it wouldn’t happen, well it did happen, and you deserve the good luck, well done sir.
Thank you!
The true sound of Mr flyer, aka the street triple at its finest.
Miss that bike!
I remember watching that - I found your channel prior though, researching Triumph Street Triples. Seeing (and hearing) that bike again... good memories.
Yeah they sure were - loved that bike, wish I still had it (and my Panigale for that matter).....
I don’t know the first thing about motorcycles. I’m a long time subscriber here for the flying content 👍👍
Good man!
