Fantastic! You are really skilled. It is sad that not many people watched your video. Not only the curb ideas, but they are missing out on your elegant setup, planning and execution. Thank you
Of course another awesome video. I use engineered stone on 70% of the curbs I install. Great video as always sir. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us.Please keep the videos coming. “FLIP””
U should do a video with q shower with 2 lineal drains. Where I am if u have a curbless shower u need 2 drains going to sepperate plumbing. They need to make a lineal drain with 2 drains built in. I'm not sure if I should have them right next to eachother or a gap in between for tile?
I have a couple questions that I really hope you can answer. I have never used engineered stone before. I plan on using some for the top of the curb on a neo-angle shower. I picked up some Satori brand and a 6X36X 1/2in. piece weighs in at 12 lbs.....is all engineered stone that heavy? I wanted to run a solid piece from the curb edge up the wall on each end, can/should that be done? At 4 lbs a foot how would you make make sure it stays seated in the thinset until it sets up??? Is there another kind that doesn't weigh as much as the Satori? I wanted to put it up the wall to be able to attach glass block for the surround......help direct me to the right product PLEASE and Thank you!
All we ever do is the stone curb. Personally I think it just such a cleaner look. As well its a lot easier I think as an installer to get it level and tilted properly for draining and glass measuring
@@bonniedaves9580 your tile supply store will usually carry these. Or you can get a granite counter top store to make one for you. Some customers have done that when they want the counter top and the curb to all match and tie into one another.
Just picked up last week an Engineered Stone for my bathroom curb . Why do think an Engineered Stone is most suitable for curbs? I just went with it because it’s one piece, less grout lines, clean and modern look. Thanks for your great content! 👊🏻
I tried one out recently. Would reccomend. I by far prefer them over the stone. I did a whole house full of tile where I used it alot and it is still going strong. Just be careful with it on sharp corners
@@khybersafi9137 yes. I bought only the 60 grit and it has worked good on hard and soft tile. I can use it on certain tiles and can't tell the cut edge from the factory.. also I use it dry, no water. Good luck to you
I like how you cut down the Kerdi curb to smaller profile. Looks great! Have you done a video review of this IQ dry cut saw? That looks like a quality saw, without needing water. How is the blade life?
Only if you have 6, 9 or 12AH batteries to run it, too far for cord or don't want to listen to a generator. I tested it a long while back, here's the video 😎 ruclips.net/video/Frk7-U5YOcI/видео.html
1) What is your trick to not chip the tile edges when sawing? We have 15x30 porcelain tiles. 2) How do you measure the size of the metal trim? Do we account for the tile and mortar that squishes through the holes?
I use the same thickness as the tile itself for tile edges. Cannot comment toward you chipping the tile as I don't know what saw or blade you are using, but it helps if you have a good blade (not home depot ones)
What product are you using under the tiles? I've been thinking about cutting hebel to fit existing subway tiles. That way I do not need to cut the tiles, only the Hebel.
Nice video. However, I think it should be named "Tiling your Schluter shower curb." as I was expecting some more content on the construction of the curb itself. Thank you.
Man I’m on a tile job that I feel like I’ll never see the the light at the end of the tunnel. Do you have any advice or stories from when you thought you’d never finish a job?
I feel you, that's how we all feel towards the end of every project. Excited at first and then want it to end asap at the end. I Don’t like metal edging on top of curbs. Seen this fail in the past, grout cracks. Better to use solid quartz with small overlap, grout and silicone!
I didn't see any pitch added to either top of the curb. Flat curbs are not a good idea. Water is not neccessarily going to run back into the shower pan.

Is it good practice to scor the jam before the cut through to avoid chips at end
Thanks for the tip. I was struggling with the curb top.
I've done the old enhancer trick instead of actually polishing stone 😎
Good tips 👍🏼

That’s how that’s done. Good stuff!
I love that engineered stone look

By “engineered stone” do you basically mean something like quartz?

I thought you were supposed to use wire mesh. I am making tile shower. How would this work?
What is the height of thr curb?
this is awesome im guess a stone fabricator could water jet cut a remnant for the top of the curb ! thanks !
Unless you can just use the standard 4" wide stuff sold as back splashes...
Great video as always ! Random question for you, what kind of watch are you wearing and what strap? Thanks keep it up!
Is it possible to buy a lower shower curb/lip? For someone that can’t lift their leg more than 1-2 inches to get into the shower
We install 3 inch tall curbs
You put screw holes in Schluter and does the shower door guy add more holes
Yes they do
All we ever do is the stone curb. Personally I think it just such a cleaner look. As well its a lot easier I think as an installer to get it level and tilted properly for draining and glass measuring
Can you pls suggest a brand or a picture? Where can we purchase these stone curbs? I like the clean lines concept and no grout on piece.

It's always better to polish, but enhancer works also.

What type of saw is that? Does it give chip wdges since it does use water?
It cuts clean, but a wet saw cuts cleaner.

Very nice. Any thoughts on integrating a mitered curb with schluter strips on the shower edges?
Nice! What's an ideal height for the shower curb?
We make our curbs 3-3.5"
what's the schluter trim size that you use here sir? if my tile is 3/8", do i go with 3/8" trim or 1/2" to account for the thinset? Thank you!
Both would work just fine. We usually go with 3/8
