I was just talking about this with someone! I was wondering if trans fats are just hidden under a different name now, like how high fructose corn syrup has like 10+ different names now. Because people are reacting to the foods the same way as if theres trans fats, but the U.S claimed to have removed trans fats from all foods! So wtf lol, but there's still a ridiculous spike in fatty liver and insulin resistance despite "removing trans fats." I've decided it's just better to eat from nature and don't trust packages or labels at all. Of course there's still gmos, pesticides & whatever hormones or antibitoics they inject into the meats if you dont always have access or the funds for organic, grass fed, hormone free stuf, but just hope for the best since there's less of a toxic load from all the unidentifiable processed junk.

I cut out processed foods, use grass fed butter, coconut oil, olive oil and cut out cane sugar and switched to honey, maple sugar and coconut sugar. My blood sugar is not spiking like it did in the past. I was shocked! I wore a CGM to test all of this out. I also added pasta back into my diet but switched to organic imported Italian pasta and had a moderate amount with little to no impact on my blood sugar when I typically would have high blood sugar. Exactly, on my family the only overweight person with health issues is the one that won't use sugar. She use fake sugar, low fat product and whole grain cereals.
I, like my grandparents, if I need sweetener I'll just use plane unrefined cane sugar, or honey, if I drink milk it's whole milk, and I'll use whatever meat I'm cooking fats as grease if I need to do something else on the pan. Ie eggs. I'm considered underweight, have no insulin problems and low bad cholesterol. My grandma lived to 100, and my grandpa is soon to be 91. And he still fully functional, walks a few miles every day, no health problems like cholesterol, blood pressure or sugar related.
High Fructose Corn Syrup is far more damaging than any plane old sugar and I don't see people stressing over it when I'm doing my grocery shopping. I try to avoid it like the plage but the damn thing is in everything. I hope for one day to be banned.

Two more important protocols to prevent/clean up plaque. Keep inflammation at bay. Inflammation is important for infections. The immune system is doing what it's supposed to do. Inflammation can damage the blood vessel walls, which causes plaque to stick.

At home i am very strict on my eating to beat my insulin resistant. No matter what's my diet, only one single time breaking it, blood glucose jump significantly even though i am a very active person walking 2 hours daily plus other workout activities (swimming....).
But when traveling to Europe i eat ton of fruits, drink cocktails, hot wine (it's sweet), eat late and going to bed at 3,4 am most of the time. Wake up in the morning with blood sugar below 100. Isn't it amazing? I believe something about the ingredients in the food. I also drink a lot of fresh full milk and that doesn't bother my digestive at all. I randomly touch the dairy food, milk butter and cheese in the US that give me a lot of trouble. You barely see organic products in Italy markets and grapes in Europe are not sprayed with any chemicals.
I strongly believe we are eating bad food from bad sources and living in the bad environment in the US. Thinking to move away for longevity

I agree with this. I went from drinking maybe a half 2liter of soda a day and eating whatever(fast food and just non healthy stuff), not watching calories, while being pretty active, to drinking water only and eating once a day, typically a thick ribeye steak and a few happy egg organic free range eggs. Sometimes some oven baked wings(no spices or sauces). Didn’t necessarily watch calories, but I’d say it was somewhere under 1500 calories a day. I felt as full as the previous unhealthy diet. I lost about 40 lbs in 3 months. Not only that, I felt absolutely wonderful compared to how I used too.
Definitely didn’t feel hungry like most people think will happen changing up a diet. The way I look at it is it’s just a matter of eating certain things you like and making sure to not eat other certain things you like. Yes well, I expect to get shot down in flames with my next comments. But I’ve been eating a well-balanced whole food plant based diet for several years now, and I’ve just started buying organic produce (After learning about what pesticides and herbicides do to the body). To go plant based, you really do need to understand nutrition, but I would say that most people, whatever their diet, are completely ignorant on the subject of nutrition. Anyway, I’ve never been as healthy as I have been these past few years. The additional great thing about going plant-based, is that it is so much better for the environment, so those of you with children might want to think about that.

The issues with these studies is they didn't do a comparison with just sugar. I'd eliminated trans fats about 3 years ago, and still had insulin resistance and noticeable visceral fat. Went away when I cut out sugar, simple carbs, and snacks. I agree that trans fats will increase the problem, but like you said, attacking both is the best. 3 months after getting rid of simple carbs and sugar, I'd lost 3 inches in my waist, over 80% of it visceral fat. There is also the possibility that once you've had IR due to transfats and sugar,s the pancreas cannot completely recover with only the transfats being eliminated, as you are still assaulting it with high glucose levels.

I still have odd gallstone pain (mainly an ache) but only when I've had something not "natural" as opposed to a nice juicy steak or fried breakfast, yet on the onset of gallstones I cut out all of the fatty meats such as pork, during my keto years and not having my gallbladder surgery due to symptoms going away, I never even remembered I had them.

The combinations of these abilities and disabilities toward fat metabolism is vast as well as the issues that can happen. Example: some cant break down saturated fats well but are fine with shorter chain fats. Others cant construct certain fats in the cell. On and on. We all know trans fats are an issue, but so are saturated fats. Intramyocellular lipids (IML) from animal saturated fat is the real cause of insulin resistance, because it inactivates insulin receptors. Processed sugar just makes it worse. This is mainly why Whole Food Plant Based Nutrition actually reverses Type 2 Diabetes, because it helps to clear out the IML from cells, since we aren't consuming it anymore. Keto merely "artificially" decreases blood sugar without getting to the root cause. Dr. Neal Barnard and others talk about this, please look into it!

5:07 "Insulin resistance caused by the pancreas being dysfunctional"? I'm a bit rusty on this topic but I thought insulin resistance had to do with requiring an abundance of insulin due to an inability of insulin to effectively shuttle glucose into cells for energy metabolism. I agree that if the pancreas does not produce sufficient insulin then glucose levels would be elevated (textbook type 1 diabetes), but this would be different from insulin resistance (type 2 diabetes).

    • @mattermat1925
      @mattermat1925 9 месяцев назад

That's right. Pancreatic dysfunction leading to insufficient insulin being released would be diabetes, not insulin resistance. Insulin resistance is a feature of the cells in the muscles/liver/adipose starting to ignore the insulin, not the pancreas failing to produce it.

Oil and sugar are hard to get in nature in a way we eat right now.
Oily grains are hard to farm working modern machines and chemicals. Many grains are hard to farm as well.
This causes the proportions to be upside down.
My father grew up on a farm in Eastern Europe, his father was farming with a horse. He said that vegetable oil was very rare, deep frying was not done at all and mostly they were eating some sort of soup.
Different types of carbohydrates sources were available, because plants need to be rotated without access to modern chemicals.

All I’ve learned it was known as bird seed filler which birds love for sure. So I’m not sure there was a correlation to human consumption

I think sugar is important once you become diabetic. My experience has been about the consumption of carbs, how many, and the serving size. I am talking about complex carbs, not simple carbs. I haven't had trans fats in 15 years and I still struggle with type 2. The best method I have experienced is losing visceral fat. You have to watch the type and amount of carbs you consume, no trans fats, no simple sugars, exercise hard, eat fat and protein, fast, and if you are insulin-dependent watch it carefully and get off it as soon as your health allows. Insulin will work against your efforts to lose weight. Is type 2 reversible? Kind of. Once you reverse the effects of type 2, you must maintain it or it will return. Bottom line, lose the fat and reverse your fatty liver then reversing type 2 will follow.

Sounds obvious really, but it's kind of an incremental progression of what we know so far.
I just think about all the bad advice regarding health and weight over the years.
30 years ago my doctor told me I had a fatty liver. Surprised me (since I wasn't overweight), I was told to "cut down in my drinking" despite the fact that I drank very little. But, that was the belief at the time.
Later, it becomes apparent that alcohol is only a contributor to fatty liver and not the primary cause.
As an endurance athlete I was in the habit of carb loading. Then I find that's really likely contributing to the fattyness of my liver!
OK, so it looks like sugar is the poison killing my liver!? Fine I'm cutting down on that too.
At my age I was at THE epicenter of the trans-fats generation. Highly processed vegetable oils were considered more healthy.
So now this. Totally makes sense to me and honestly seems pretty obvious when you think about it.
The sudden glut of carnivore dieters. What would be something they DON'T consume? Trans-fats (& sugar)
Of course in a few years we may find out this is wrong, but it certainly . . . . feels right.
I mean if we clog up the liver with trans-fats, then it only makes sense that it will get inflamed and have difficulty processing the sugar, carbs, and alcohol! 😮

Spikes can be good at the right time, such as after or during exercise and when eating protein, provided it comes back down quickly. I've used a CGM and monitored the result of a protein shake and some shrimp (read: very little fat) after a heavy workout. My sugar spikes for about 45 minutes and it's back at baseline in a little over an hour. That's probably about 15 grams net carbs and 50g protein. I was diagnosed diabetic five years ago, and went keto in response.
As for "bad carbs and seed oils" that's 100% correct. I avoid them. I avoid pretty much all carbs except crucifers and other non-starchy vegetables and non-sweet fruits with the exception of post-workout high-protein binges.
PS: I meant to point out that the "good" is that the spike corresponds to an insulin spike, which shuttles the protein into your muscles.
