- Installing a performance world intake out of Langley BC. This is a a intake that replaces the stock fuel injection system, and allows you to put a Carburetor on this motor, and a older HEI Distributor or any aftermarket distributor.
A stock Vortec 5.7 with just a carb conversion and headers produces about 310-320hp at the flywheel, and 380-390tq. Get good mpg in a lightweight vehicle too.
Carburetor better that efi???
@@bendover2405 makes more power....
@@bendover2405 EFI better if you live in Alaska. Get alittle more mpg too. The stock setup wasent designed for max hp, but driveablity and emissions. There are aftermarket EFI setups that will rival the carb. But carbs are cheap and simple. I have a 750 doublepumper on my daily driver and it starts right up on 10 degree days. No choke either. So if ya know carbs, they work fine pretty much anywhere.
A L31 255 hp advertised FI , with a carb and headers makes 290 to 300 at flywheel is about what we got , cam swap one and bigger valves 350hp + is real easy.
@@backyardbuilttrucks1 400+hp comes pretty easy with them, I've already built a bunch of L-31s over the years. I've actually built a Vortec headed 355 that made over 520hp with alot of head work, ported, 2.02/1.60 valves, milled, 7/16 studs, etc, 11.2-1 compression, 9 inch deck blueprinted block, .028 quinch, big roller cam, Super Victor intake, 750 HP Holley. But the basic longblock was still pretty much there, had nice JE pistons & Scat rods, but the stock cast crank was still there. I've seen 383s with modified Vortec heads making 560+hp, and 355s making 530+hp for dirt track cars.
Took valve covers off why? Because the valve in the way of Intake? Sorry it’s a dumb question.
Computer wise wat issues to watch for or anything to bypass when going from Vortec to Carb.
Hello nice job. I have a question. That intake work good?? Because i have one exactly the same but i never used it. Thanks
Sorry for the late response. It worked wicked!
@@brandonroth7619 no problam thanks i will put in my motor this winter. Thanks ,👍
The metal gaskets with the rubber around all the ports is much better. Those plastic intake gaskets don't last long.
What about fuel pump??
So basically u left out the fun stuff 🤪
number of
part of intake edelbrock please...
Did you use a printoseal gasket?
These were felpro
I have a Vortec (5.7L) out of a 98. suburban. I’m putting it in a 87 Monte. I’m going to need this intake right ? I bought a Chevy 350 intake from someone but I keep telling my folks it won’t work 😂
100% need a different intake!
Yes if you use the stock vortec heads u need a vortec bolt pattern. Basically 2 bolts on each corner that go straight down instead of all angled down the side
Werid I have a bolt that broke off in the same spot
Could I make it Into a tbi with an adapter?
Yeah I’d say
Dude those gaskets are garbage
Worked great
@@brandonroth7619 they will for about 8 months I found out the hard way and fel-pro makes a steel gasket for these heads that will never break or leak
@@jonathanlawson4667 those gaskets work great actually. 9 times out of 10 it’s installer error. If you’re using the factory intake that’s pitted to shit like they all are, of course they’re not going to seal.
