- We fix the decking boards into place ensuring that we have the correct spacing. We brace and strengthen the longest panels using 2 x 3 timbers and an anchor bracket.
All timbers secured using 65mm decking screws.

Interesting. There's no getting away with it looking like deck boards though. Guy did a good job.
That’s a good solid , secure and modern looking fence for not a lot of money . Good job caveman and I think you’ll agree something that anyone with some diy skills could have a go at ....
Agree on all points my friend. Hopefully it will give others some inspiration and a few pointers. ATB, Des
Love the look of this fence. Im glad you didnt paint the posts. I love the contrast between the light concrete posts & the dark wood. Looks kinda modern. Nice job
A compliment from someone with your talents is a compliment indeed. Cheers Grumpy. Des
Great strong fence
Very neat. I would have painted the concrete post in a stone colour.
Fair enough. That would also work. ATB, Des
Nice job Des and good to see you bringing the lad on, the more he does now will help him long-term.
Like the use of off the shelf tech to support the fence. Nice looking job mate. Love the black board look.
Thanks buddy. We are haopy with it. ATB, Des
Good job! I've already made one fence panel using salvaged decking boards. It worked out well and I am very pleased I made it in the winter when the boards were swollen. Had I done it in the summer, the boards would have buckled. The boards shrink so much in the summer! In the winter, there are no gaps but in the summer, there are almost 1cm gaps.
Well done guys a nice touch with the compact centre bracket.
We agree! Thanks for your kind words of support. ATB, Des
Thanks for your time and effort to make these videos. Definitely going to copy most of it. Thanks
Glad you like them! They're very strong and sturdy. Des
Very tidy and neat job! Well done
Thank you! Cheers! Des
that is a good looking fence dez looking forward to the next video stay safe.
Thanks very much. Des
Nice work des done to perfection as usual 👌
Not perfect by any stretch my friend but more than satisfactory for a DIY job which many people could do themselves. Take care, Des
That looks a very tidy job, well done.
Thanks very much. Appreciated. Des
Looking forward to next one... Making a gate.
Coming soon! ATB buddy, Des
You’ve done a top job there fella 👍🏻 looks nice and solid.
Thank you! Cheers!
LOVE IT !
Thats just what i want but no gaps between the boards
Hiya Steve. You will need to leave a 2-3mm gap between boards to allow for expansion mate. Des
Great job.... Looks really nice..
Thank you so much 😀 Best, Des
looks great, very modern.
Thanks very much. Appreciate your support. Des
Nice and tidy job good work
Thank you! Cheers! ATB, Des
Looks good, will be interesting to see finished project and total costing
Think of having a go at this myself👍
Why not. Go for it buddy. I can guarantee that whatever you make will be many times stronger than something purchased and probably cheaper. Good luck and best wishes, Des
I have done something similar but used 4x1 timber which I got at a reasonable price in 6mtr length. I used 2 pieces wedged in the slot of concrete posts to avoid rattling and used 2 screws at each end. No spacers. 2 coats of decking oil. . Capping rail at top rounded with router.
Used circular saw, router, planer, belt sander, orbital sander all first time.
Sounds good my friend. Given the hard work you've put in I hope it exceeds your expectations. Best wishes, Des
Looks good. I would have started at the top also.
Great minds think alike buddy. Best, Des
Looks great but can I ask why you left a gap between, just personal preference or reasons?
Just personal preference that's all. ATB, Des
I may be wrong in saying, but it looks as though you are facing a highway. Did you apply for planning permission as the fence is above 1 metre? I am looking to do a similar project and that's all I keep seeing.
The fence looks great, job well done.
Hi there. Not adjacent to a highway so no need for PP mate. ATB, Des
Is that a Tilley hat you're wearing there Des? Saw them in London about 2000 but at £80ish quid couldn't afford it at the time. Regretted it ever since. Just burnt my head last weekend and might fork out now circumstances are different.
Hiya buddy. No, this one isn't a Tilley buddy. I think it's a Trekmates or similar which I've had for several years now. I can assure you I wouldn't be wearing my Tilley to do DIY mate! Best wishes, Des
Instantly thought he was just going to drop them into the fence channel on the posts, but he did a proper job instead.
Not perfect my friend but still not too shabby either. Des
nice job...my only thought was that it was perhaps a little too high given the surrounding fences?
Thank you. I did actually consider other typical fences in the immediate vicinity and also spoke to the neighbours. The height is just fine mate and meets my needs perfectly. ATB, Des
@@21stcenturycaveman33 ..thanks for the reply, yes, whatever suits your needs. Very solid piece of fencing and great tips for us DIY'ers . I have learnt a lot from your excellent videos...Thanks and Cheers
@@21stcenturycaveman33 is this fence at the front of the house? If so, anything over 1m high needs planning permission right? (unless the original was higher, in which case it can't exceed that height).
Hi there. There is no breach of any planning laws here. I already checked that out before I started. Des
Where’s the video with the costs? I already have the concrete posts in but have feathered edge fence in. I want to change it to decking boards like this
HERE WE GO .....

I hope that's the back of the house and not the front ha
Sounds like the first line of a great song George ........
@@21stcenturycaveman33The song I'd be singing while running my chainsaw through it if I couldn't see out my front window 😂 nice job though 👍
Why not just make the panels and drop them in it’s not the best looking fence a bit stark but it’s only my opinion
Have you any idea how much they would weigh? Not an option (unless you've got a crane). Des
Picket fence next door looks better in proportion, colour and choice of timber.
Neighbours must be horrified.!
Looks shithot..
I'm very pleased with it. Thank you. ATB,Des
