Hi there. Was going to do just that and also add a latch at the top of the gate so it shuts but doesn't lock. Thanks for dropping by. Des

Looks great. Enjoyable series of videos. I think a Double Locking Long Throw "Cays" Lock would have been much more practical though!

Des, best thing I did was put a long throw gate lock with key on both sides on back gate. Easy and secure, great easy access for coming in with bike, and an easy fit.

Would a Suffolk latch work So Gate is accessible from front also?

Yes, absolutely. I did consider one but I decided to attach a different type of latch at the top of the gate when they come back in stock. ATB, Des

Looks nice. I was really expecting you to drop the board's into the channels directly, maybe with some little spacers but this seems much sturdier than that would be.

    Hi there ,
Really good video and nicely explained . Just wanted to ask is it possibly to flush the decking right up to each other if I didn't want any gaps in it, or will the would expand and cause issues down the line..plus the wood that you used for the framework , was it 3x2 ??
    Many thanks

Hi there. You could make the boards flush but I would advise against it as there will be expansion and contraction as you say. In winter months the boards will take in moisture and expand. However, if you leave a gap of 2 or 3 mm that will suffice and you're good to go. RE the imber uprights:

Nice bit of artificial grass in that front yard and you would have a belting zero maintenance front yard. Fence looks great.
Question for the Q&A, if you were starting the job again what would you do different a second time and/or lessons learned?

Looks great, did these decking boards have tongue and groove or clean edges? Also what width are they? Cheers

Thank you very much. They have clean edges NOT T&G. I discuss the spec of the timbers in the following vid:

How do you open the gate from the outside 🤔 got to have long arms to reach over it to get to the bolt lol

    • @21stcenturycaveman33
      @21stcenturycaveman33  3 года назад +2

Hi there. This isn't an issue as it is only a secondary access point and is mainly for privacy and to act as a deterrent. However, I will be adding a heavy duty latch at the top of the gate when they come back in stock so the gate can be open and closed (although not if locked). Thanks for dropping by. ATB, Des

Have you considered colouring the concrete posts? Perhaps black like the wooden parts?

Hi there. Tbh I prefer them as they are. I like the contrast. Buit each to their own. ATB, Des

Hello there caveman we are looking to building that privacy fence with decking boards. Did you actually mention the cost of everything? Did I miss it? If so could you please let me know the total cost of the fences without the gate? Thanks
