I seen a bad review on gorilla wood glue on RUclips. I can’t remember whose channel it was on but it was a reputation woodworker. But if it’s glued and screwed I’m sure it’ll be great.
That is looking very substantial and well up to your needs. Have a look for a 90 degree adapter for your drill/driver. I have a DeWalt one, worth paying a little more for a good branded one rather than a cheap China knock off one. It would have got you out of the bind you had getting those screws in in the tight space. Not something you use a lot but something you are glad of when you needed it. I also got a mini metal drill chuck to use with it. They have got me out of a bind more than once. This video is quite timely as I need a new gate as 'someone' left it off the latch and the wind decided to see how easy it would be to break! Quite easy as it turned out due to the rot 🤣
Looks like the gate will be as substantial as the fence and will last for many years ...also great to see you working with your son....on a different tangent I know you like watches and was wondering if you had a recommendation for a rugged watch for work for around £50 ....I was thinking of a g shock but if you know of another kind I’d like you advice and Recommendations
Hi there, thank you for uploading such an informative video. I have a question I am trying to get a gate built using decking board wood and they guy came back and said he cannot do it, it is too heavy - what do you think of that and is there a way putting wheels for sliding. Please help!
Hiya Shaun. First of all I'm not an expert or anything and I am not a professional joiner. However, I would agree that decking boards are quite heavy and they will require a strong frame to support the weight and they will need to be properly braced to keep everything square. Despite being quite a heavy one, the gate I made remains as true and square as the day I built it and I'm a DIY'er. That said, it will clearly depend on the size and style of the gate you are contemplating. If it is quite a wide one then he may well be right. Also bear in mind that the wider the gate the more significant the post and fixings need to be to support the weight. However, if the gate is going to slide this makes things so much easier as it will simply be sliding across the surface of you driveway. Thus the weight of the thing becomes less of an issue. Yes, you can easily put wheels on gates for them to slide or even ones which are sprung if your driveway has an uneven surface. These will also help to support a heavier gate. Indeed I will be doing this myself in a fencing project I hope to complete in the next few months. So basically it depends upon a number of factors. Best thing to do is to seek advice fomr a couple more contractors and compare notes and decide from there. Hope this helps. Best wishes, Des
Good question. That depends upon the screws you're using. Unless the instructions state that they're not required you will need a pilot hole to prevent splitting / damaging the timber. Des
No mate, it came with the saw. Funnily enough I was thinking about a collection bag for my circular saw the other day because I don't have one for that. Was going to use a bit of old pillow case or something. I'm sure that would work just as well? Take care, Des
Hi there. You can buy it pretty much anywhere if you live in the UK. But there are varying degrees of quality so more expensive is better. If you don;t live in the UK then you need to ask Google. Best wishes, Des
simple but effective stay safe des.
Me or the gate buddy? I can see the merits in both. Lol. Des
Gorilla glue is absolutely incredible
Strength is crazy
Great stuff. That's the sort of feedback I'm looking for. Was hoping I hadn't wasted my money. ATB, Des

Do you have to put pilot holes in normal screws when using a impact driver or is it ok
Good question. That depends upon the screws you're using. Unless the instructions state that they're not required you will need a pilot hole to prevent splitting / damaging the timber. Des
Hi Des. I have the evolution mitre saw. I see u have a dust collection bag. Mine didn’t come with a bag. Did u purchase that bag?

21st Century Caveman U could maybe do a video on that Des.

Half laps instead of butt joints, no chance of sag.
I'm sure you're right mate. How would you secure them? Presumably glue, screws or dowels? Many thanks, Des
@@21stcenturycaveman33 glue and dowels are the best bud definitely. I enjoyed your build vid.
Good grief... you can see the spur marks from here !!
Mmmm Yee ha! Lol. 🤠
