This is the most realistic install on RUclips that shows the struggle of the first time install. Other sites preinstall the top, take it down and do an install video when the material has stretched, and they skip the hard parts.
Demonstrating that front gap saved me… I was at my wits end trying to get this thing installed for the first time. I truly appreciate you for making this video.
Thank you SO MUCH for making this video. We following along every step of the way and it worked like a charm. Getting the thing to unlock was definitely the hardest part.
I hope the poster sees this, what a tremendous help this video was, the instructions that come with the top are not great and there are some tricks with the lock for example that would have been a pain without this video covering them. Thank you !!
Thank you so much for this VERY informative video. After a full day of frustration, I stumbled upon your video, and oh boy, for the first time someone explained that the top needs to be stretched to lock into place. Thank you for so greatly educating me in putting the top on. Thanks!
Thanks for this, you are the only one that mentions the gap at the latch, I had to star the heat and let it warm up for 15 minutes to get it in. Other videos just show you until they flip it but don't show the latching... I also had the same problem as you when first trying to line up the top to the bracket.
Well I think I have seen the majority of softop installs. My wife noticed you scratched the passenger side pillar. Well I did the same. A towel on them next year. I didn't follow the window install and I ended up with my corners not correct. I am going to try your method today. It makes sence to do the corners first then the sails. Great video, thank you. Update, you are correct on side windows. Quadratec video is wrong.
Great video. Much more detailed than any others. I had to buy full rear door surrounds for both sides because guy I bought it from lost those gasket/seals. Ridiculous Mopar!!
Thank you for such a great video. I am sooo uncomfortable with doing these things and you made it easy for me😊 I just struggles with locking in the top.
I love the ocean blue color. Trying to decide which top I want, I'm leaning soft top since I live in Southern California and want the roof off more often than not. thanks for the helpful video
Thanks for this, was struggling with install until this video. One note - if you can’t unlock latches push the roof down toward the tail gate, not up, to release. Also, so much easier to install with the bag/cover on...
Can’t wait to own a Jeep of my own! I love your videos always helpful! So excited for some more boating videos that hopefully are coming out soon!!! Keep up the good work! 💛
Yes. It appears so. It took a while during the first set up. Now knowing how to, I could probably do it in half the time if I wanted to put the hard top back on. You could at least leave the roll bar brackets in place, the window channels would already be built. So it wouldn't be too bad to remove.
Any chance on a video of operating the soft top. Like sans windows (bikini top), sunrider back and having it all the way down. Also a question, can you remove the top completely to go topless? If so could you show this as well. Thanks
junior dg. Are you hooking the rear washer tube to the hook that is provided on the Jeep? If so, you should have an issue with it catching when you lift the top up.
J Snowis it’s the whole plug and tube itself. It’s clicked into the holder and the allocated spot. It’s when relocating the roof from the down position back up. I have to unhook the the plug from its stored position to get the roof to clear it.
OMG for all that work. I admire your patience..... How is the waterproofing of that? have you tested it with a hose? I hope you are not disappointed with that. It will be so frustrating. :)
Great video! 2 questions, 1, can the top be out down without having to remove the rear windows? And 2, can I put the hard top back on top? Or the soft top has to come off? Thanks in advance
The windows need to be removed to lower the soft top. The entire soft top including channel brackets need to be removed to install the hardtop. Just follow his steps in reverse.
I just got a 2019 Colorado, and still want a wrangler lol so I think im going to get one, but how Is it on the highway? and can you take a soft top through a carwash?
god KAY. I bought the 2019 rubicon and it’s great on the highway. Feels smooth, much better than how jeeps used to ride in the past. For car wash, I bring mine in through the touch-free car washes or just wash the Jeep myself. I’ve seen people go though the car wash with the soft cloths that spin, but I personal would not recommend that. Lot of pressure weight from the top part of the wash on the soft top.
Just got a JL and I was wondering if you are still happy with the soft top? I am concerned with water leaks. I also wonder how well it heats up inside when it's cold outside, as I live in Iowa and the weather changes fast sometimes. I hope to hear back from you. Thank You.
Island Charlie as long as you take care of your soft top, it shouldn’t leak. My hubby had an old one and is rough with it and it leaks on the driver’s side. He could get some of the rubber replaced I would think if he wished. Mine is treated as gently as a newborn and no problems. It heats up well, no problems there.
Yes, you will have to remove most of the hardware. But, you can keep it connected in larger pieces. Take the soft top off using the quick-disconnects at the pivot point, remove the bolts holding the plastic pieces to the body and that should do it. The pivot point bracket should be able to stay in place.
Definitely disagree , the JL is way way easier to deal with than the JK all the way around in my eyes . I deal with both on the regular.... nice video tho !

Great video! Watched it a few times and installed the top with little to no trouble at all. So much better than reading instructions:)
I hope the poster sees this, what a tremendous help this video was, the instructions that come with the top are not great and there are some tricks with the lock for example that would have been a pain without this video covering them. Thank you !!
Haha, I flew out to Greenville to pick up my Wifes new vehicle. Drove it back to Florida. Now I have a JLU and really considering a soft top.
Thank you so much for this VERY informative video. After a full day of frustration, I stumbled upon your video, and oh boy, for the first time someone explained that the top needs to be stretched to lock into place. Thank you for so greatly educating me in putting the top on. Thanks!
Your video was much easier than the directions, thank you
Glad to see no more zippers!! Just got my JL with the hard top but a soft top will be on in a few months! Thanks!
Thanks for doing a complete install on jl wrangler soft top. This video answered my question with the gap near the windshield.
GREAT VIDEO. we were having the hardest time understanding why we had that gap. THANK YOU!
Watched this video a few months back and just rewatched today during install. Thanks so much for the help, I’d give it a 4/10 on level of difficulty.
Awesome video man! Took me an hour!

that roof top mount in the garage is amazing!! wish I had the headroom in my garage 😥
Great video. Much more detailed than any others. I had to buy full rear door surrounds for both sides because guy I bought it from lost those gasket/seals. Ridiculous Mopar!!
“Hold on…WHAT!?” My reaction when I saw your ceiling contraption to afore your hardtop….imma need a tutorial link please 😂
Thank you for such a great video. I am sooo uncomfortable with doing these things and you made it easy for me😊 I just struggles with locking in the top.
To release the locks, instead of pushing the top up, push it down and the locks releases easily. Litely push down. Great video
Thanks man. Big help! Good advice along the way that I wouldn’t have gotten from the directions. Especially those damn locks!!
Anytime!!
Very helpful video! Thank you for this.
My Rubicon came with dual tops. The soft top’s been in the box in my garage for a year. Might install it this summer to see which i like more
Where did you get the hanging bag for the freedom panels? I can't find it. I need that in my life lol.
Did you ever find that hanging bag? I’m looking for one now.
Really great video with the new JL top. Appreciate you man!
I love the ocean blue color. Trying to decide which top I want, I'm leaning soft top since I live in Southern California and want the roof off more often than not. thanks for the helpful video

Very nice video. Thank you!
Excellent job a lot of work but well worth it well done looks great.
All videos should be like yours. I will follow your steps to install mine. By the way I have the same colour (which is a great one)! Thanks again! 👍
Great video. Thank you this REALLY helped me with the installation of my soft top.
My install went great thanks to your video only question i have is What are the rear window straps for
If you want to roll the rear window up without removing it.
Good job. Now 2 years later, how’s the soft top doing?
Very good job
Can’t wait to own a Jeep of my own! I love your videos always helpful! So excited for some more boating videos that hopefully are coming out soon!!! Keep up the good work! 💛
Great timing! My soft top is coming this Monday! I also have a Sahara JLU! 🙌
Can spare parts be bought separately if one component breaks or goes missing?
Thank you
Help a lot!
Thanks for sharing! SUB and LIKED!
Good info Thanks 😊
Thank you so much
Stupid question, first time wrangler owner. To put the hardtop back on in the winter, all the soft top hardware has to come off right?
That is a lot of work but well worth it.
I agree and I agree again. I love the new tops on the JL. what a huge difference.
great video, thank you
Great video! Thanks! I noticed your shirt said greenville drone, i just moved to greenville NC.. is that where you're from?
is this a sailcloth or twill top?
With all doors and top off already... how long do you think it takes roughly to put the soft top together and install?
Guys don't read directions . Great video thanks.
Do you have to remove all of that to get the hardtop back on? Or just the windows and the actual top piece?
Yes. It appears so. It took a while during the first set up. Now knowing how to, I could probably do it in half the time if I wanted to put the hard top back on. You could at least leave the roll bar brackets in place, the window channels would already be built. So it wouldn't be too bad to remove.
You have to removal all of the parts on that came with the soft top except for the roll-bar brackets. Those can stay on.
Any chance on a video of operating the soft top. Like sans windows (bikini top), sunrider back and having it all the way down.
Also a question, can you remove the top completely to go topless? If so could you show this as well.
Thanks
what kit is this ?
Are you having trouble with the rear windshield washer plug hooking up with the top when lifting it up.??
Let me know if it happens to you. Or any followers.
OMG for all that work. I admire your patience..... How is the waterproofing of that? have you tested it with a hose? I hope you are not disappointed with that. It will be so frustrating. :)
I had a Jeep and there was no water issues. Just in the car wash with the high pressure spray. The water got in from the back.
The new JL soft top is a huge difference compared to the JK. I am extremely impressed.
fiero880 does it get hung up on the rear washer plug when trying to lift it up? Mine does.
Not locking the left side helps.

@@FauxJam thanks for the info bro

I got the soft top and love it. I went through one of the hardest rain storms of my life with it and not one drop. Thank you, Charlie
Hi. Great videos I'm just curious what u have on your windshield is it back up camera or dash cam
that is my dash cam. Old Shark
When it rains, and you open the door to get in or out, does water still piss in like crazy?
the Jeep drip.. I wish I would have gone with a soft top on mine.
Can’t tell, does this top have the deep tinted windows?
Yes !!
Where did you get your hoist?
Thank you!
Could a person leave that that last back window bar out so that when you open rear gate you can lift up rear window with less hassle?
possibly but that also seals up the tailgate from water intrusion.
Does anyone know the part number for the roll bar mounting brackets for 18-24 JLU ?
Sir, does all that hardware need to come off in order for the hardtop to go back on?
I'd love to know the answer to this question as well.
Yes, you will have to remove most of the hardware. But, you can keep it connected in larger pieces. If anybody’s out there when you slide the side windows, is it OK if just the white tip gets in the channel and then the test just doesn’t?
Make a hard top installation video
No it’s easier to do it on the JL than the JK
Definitely disagree , the JL is way way easier to deal with than the JK all the way around in my eyes . I deal with both on the regular.... nice video tho !
You make it look so easy can I bring my jeep to you lol
Thank you!
