I'm really excited for the new passport, but I would much rather see the full screen of the car than see half of it taken up by your face. Not trying to be mean, just more interested in the car than you.
If you look closely, this vehicle is too damn big to be the next Passport. Unless there going to make the Pilot as big as an Armada. I think we're looking at the new Pilot trail spot.
No, it is not going to be an effective competitor to the 4Runner. It won't have a two-speed transfer case. It won't be body-on-frame. It won't have a solid rear axle. Yes! BUT how many people actually off-road their 4Runners? And those that do time to time, do you need the full capability of a 4Runner? If not, then a Passport might be a better fit. Good to have options!
I hope this is good. I have a 5th gen 4Runner that I love and sorta planned to eventually replace with either a 6th gen or the 250 series, but both have some things about them I don’t love. 6th gen 4Runner styling is ugly. 250 series battery hump is annoying as shit and premium fuel requirement offsets the mpg benefit of the hybrid.
I think Toyota has failed with offering only 4 Cyl-turbo hybrid with a high price. I cannot understand why anyone would buy a 4-runner when Passport is available with a 6-cylinders. And of course, I would never by a 4Cyl-hybrid especially at current retail prices. 4-Runner MPG is not great either.
This is competing with Pathfinder Rock Creek, even the Santa Fe will easily do double the Passport's volume. 4Runners have a cult following and has a much stronger nameplate.

IF honda was to make it like an actual RWD Layout like the 4Runner that be sick but they still going to have that FWD layout with a transfer case
And the first like
wish it was made in japan
@OttoBrandt-i5c "the reason why a MAJORITY of the 4Runner buyers, purchase the 4Runner, is definitely not rock-crawling, but "dominance" in the Parking lot of the local mall, with a "tough looking" SUV. ". Also, snow country, handling the roads before they are well plowed. I have owned a solid axle 4runner with Gleason front and rear difs, 87 Pathfinder, 91 Explorer, a Trooper(it burned oil, other than that I wish I had it back). Plus 2 Ridgelines, 08 and 21. IMO, the Ridgelines are the best performing I have used in moderate snow (less than 10" deep, can't compare to deeper) and better on ice (with stock vs stock tires at least) than anything else I have used. Or at least equal, better than most. I bet this new Passport is going to be a humdinger for these purposes!
You're sleeping. A green 2026 Passport is running in the Rebelle Rally
New Passport fully uncovered at Rebelle Rally
Wow a pilot without a third row. I'm excited!
They should have brought back the Element instead of this. I've maybe saw 1 Passport to every 10 Pilot on the road. Even if Passport is more off-road capable, no way I'm picking it over a 4runner. No way I'm picking this over a Pilot if I'm road driving either.
I don't see an upper control arm in the shots where the front suspension is at full droop. So it's more than likely still MacPherson strut suspension. So the same car underneath in a new suit.
I'll stick to my 2019 Passport seeing as the new one is going to do absolutely nothing to the aftermarket support in improving the off-road capabilities any more than what it is currently. Makes me kinda sad.
Honda lets goooo!
imagine the new passport getting a v6 unlike the new 4runner
I noticed the license plate was from Ohio. Any chance it’s being made in Ohio? I thought Alabama.
Produced in Alabama. Honda has an off road test facility near Bellefontaine, Ohio.
my bet testing new prelude with new hybrid tech
Just in time for these AWD stuff to not be allowed on trails. 😂😂😂
I'm really excited for the new passport, but I would much rather see the full screen of the car than see half of it taken up by your face. Not trying to be mean, just more interested in the car than you.
Gotta 23 Toyota 4Runner so won’t have to worry for 25 years or so…..should be done driving by then .
If you look closely, this vehicle is too damn big to be the next Passport. Unless there going to make the Pilot as big as an Armada. I think we're looking at the new Pilot trail spot.
It’s 1000% the new Passport since Honda officially announced it. This is literally from the Honda website.
hondas are all big and fluffy for their class
It can take aim at the Pathfinder, but that's about it. Lets see the '26 Ridgeline already.
That front overhang is too much, horrible approach angle will really limit it.
No, it is not going to be an effective competitor to the 4Runner. It won't have a two-speed transfer case. It won't be body-on-frame. It won't have a solid rear axle. It might be reasonably capable for a unibody crossover, but it will still be a unibody crossover. And like all of the Honda V6 crossovers, it will continue to have crap fuel economy.
Exactly!
Yes! BUT how many people actually off-road their 4Runners? And those that do time to time, do you need the full capability of a 4Runner? If not, then a Passport might be a better fit. Good to have options!
Nice
I hope this is good. I have a 5th gen 4Runner that I love and sorta planned to eventually replace with either a 6th gen or the 250 series, but both have some things about them I don’t love. 6th gen 4Runner styling is ugly. 250 series battery hump is annoying as shit and premium fuel requirement offsets the mpg benefit of the hybrid.
Tacoma iforce max is the same powertrain as the 250 series and takes regular
@@chibbyylol yes but LC is premium required. Not recommended, required.
I believe also tundra doesn’t require premium but GX does.
No center diff lock, no low range, means not a competitor nor an offroad vehicle.
Ivtm-4 is not sh-awd. They function similarly but they don't drive the same.
It's all software. All the mechanical components are exactly the same.
If it’s aimed at the 4Runner, it’s complete with body on frame, right? Otherwise it’s just psycho babel!
I do like the Pathfinder Rock Creek! Typically you can get good deals on them.
hopefully new engine
Spy Shot of the New FJ Mini Land Cruiser??
Great camouflage, they modeled the Mutt Cutts Van from Dumb & Dumber.
V6 no turbo 😃
cool
not body on frame
Wonder how much it'll actually be cross-shopped since it's AWD unibody vs body on frame
Also note for the V6, it'll likely have start/stop and cylinder deactivation like the pilot does
4th-gen VCM has the bugs largely worked out plus there is Idlestopper.
Most likely the prospective buyer won’t know the difference between AWD vs 4wd and certainly won’t care about unibody vs body on frame. They’re just hoping the dealer will sell them a car with their 640 credit score.
@@dpalmer1987b I found the idle stopper horrible (on an MDX, your steering wheel is locked as if the car is off, you can't do any corrective steering when stationary), what are its benefits relating to VCM? I thought VCM is bad on highways and stable speeds.
@@PWCDNit just shuts off cylinders when cruising on the highway. It takes it down to a 4 then 3 cylinder if under light load. I’ve read forums on ridgeline were people say they get around 28-30 mpg on long highway stretches.
Honda need a propor shift not and not that dirty hole.
I wish honda would start making a hybrid system for their motorbikes and moped that have CVT transmissions. As they are now they get around 100 mpg, but if they added hybrid tech it should be maybe close to 200 mpg.
Kawasaki has a hybrid now...but very pricey.
First view
Honda passport meets everything I needed, roomy 2 row mid size suv, off road capable, rugged looking, most importantly V6.
