@flectz Maybe, but at least this doesn't have the minivan derived rounded front end, and the rear is more practical and spacious. I was considering a used 2nd Gen Pilot, but really preferred a new vehicle - now this new Passport is PERFECT for me😊

As a Honda owner I'm a bit biased but love seeing Honda evolving. This looks really fun with some really good capabilities. The front trail cam is some nice tech. Cool how it gives you the tire and body marker lines. Will be interested to see everything else along with the price tag.

How can you compare a 3.5L V6 unit based on the PILOT to a 3 cylinder unit based on the escape. Totally different proportions and while I se a box it’s extremely unique to Honda. Good job Honda

As someone who used to drive the 2001 Isuzu Rodeo / Honda Passport...... knowing that it really was the Isuzu car and Honda just put their badge on it I'm getting huge vibes from that generation.... side profile looks exactly 2002 passport, Boxxy rugged body on frame..... amazing vehicle this totally has The Vibes of that one. Also this whole thing screams oh crap at least let's put out something and Nerf the ability to get any real stats.....
As a 4runner and Tacoma owner, I like the direction Honda is taking with this but it needs more ground clearance. I hope the design elements are carried over to the next generation Ridgeline.

I am really digging this. Even though I really wanted Honda to build a true off-roader exclusive model with an Element revival, this is a great choice of a very capable on-roader with truly strong off-road capability. No, it won't match up to a 4Runner or Wrangler or Bronco, but those are not the best on-road. This seems like a perfect compromise.

Oh wow this whole thing looks boss. Those seats look beautiful! Honda has had really bland interiors recently but this exterior and interior look perfecto. They need to make that exterior wrap an option too, i know im not the only one who would get it with that color wrap
One has to wonder... They designed the 2nd gen up until 2013 and teased it at the end of 2013, but waited until the 2017 model year to release it. No reason to discontinue it, but again one wonders HOW long until the next one? 2027 I'd guess.
A few things : Low profile, ground credence covered by big tires. Sort of A lot of hanging parts under the neath even the ground cleanse looks poor from outside Question : if it's automatic transmission, do they add cooling / liquid or oil ? And do they add low speed, a real low speed transfer case?
Good and improvement over the previous generation, but they gotta do something about that ground clearance. it's a deal breaker. If you're making an off-road version of a vehicle, go all in.
Tbh I have a current generation passport trail sport and I’m not seeing the main changes we wanted. The trail cams are cool and it’s a little bit bigger, the interior looks nice, but I feel like Honda still needs a truly competitive off roader
@Honda, if you'd put a long arm 4 link solid rear axle in the Trail Sports, you would have a more capable vehicle. I'd also add more lift to the front as well. This is coming from a guy running 33's on a 1st gen Pilot.
That's good. Glad to see a manufacturer that is actually making an attempt when making an off-road version of one of their in production vehicles. Looking at you Volkswagen and your "peak edition" that is only cosmetic and zero off-road substance when comparing to the standard Atlas.
I used to own 2 honda Pilots, one with 294k miles and the other one with 470k both with original engines and transmissions. The reliability is there, I just wish the venerable 3.5 engine would come with timing chain instead of a belt. Maybe some gel and a comb ?
05 pilot we bought with 200k miles and we just sold it with 294k miles and still drives good, just needs a few maintenance repairs. The 06 pilot we got rid of last year had 374k miles not 470k (my mistake while typing). We did not replace timings belts on both because it had recently been done on both cars. We bought both cars from same friend who takes really good care of his vehicles. I did get a quote from dealership here in Alabama and it was $400 with part and labor a few years ago. Hopefully that helps.

Ground clearance could, should be better for a vehicle calling itself a Trailsport. Wall to wall skid plates are great but what about more ground clearance? Seems like a miss, if ground clearance is no greater than the current passport's 8.1 inches and with 31 inch tires no less. How does that even happen? Those skid plates will get a good workout.
Glad they didnt make it look like another Pilot, and much better than current Passport. This is alot like my 2005 Acura MDX. I could be wrong but it appears it also has larger brake Rotors.
Pretty cool! I think a 2 inch lift would be sweet! However, aftermarket will help that, plus it will look way beefier. Alright, Honda, come on, bring on the New Ridgeline & make it with a stick 2-inch lift. I'm ready to own a great Honda Truck!
I always like the more traditional upright design of the Bronco sport, but obviously disliked the subpar reliability of Ford. OMG, THIS SO TOTALLY IS THE ANSWER TO MY PRYERS. SO getting this. Gonna go preorder the very first one.
I know it doesn’t show much of the interior, and they don’t really discuss it, but I hope Honda did away with button shifting for this. They kept it on the new gen Pilot, but it’d be nice to have a normal shifter.

Wondering if trailsport will stick with 2 rows and the other versions will offer a 3rd row. Passport competitors (4runner, santa fe, sorento, tiguan) in their more standard trims so hopefully passport does, as well. I want to see this model survive and continue to offer a trailsport variant

yes it does. Just install your vcm disabler and add a Scan gauge to monitor if it works against VCM

The pano roof is a nice luxury feature as its not on every 4runner.
