Just as the Barra is a relatively modern engine configuration for upgrading the old Patrols, it would be saleable to also adapt the 6-speed ZF auto box with the Barra, and make a truely up-to-date trans and engine. The work should now concentrate on engine-trans swaps. The relatively tall overdrive 6th gear can be utilized very nicely with transfer reduction gears and along with the ZF's relatively low 1st gear, would make a weapon of an off-road vehicle with a broad spread of ratio's thru low-range. Time for the archaic manual box to be dropped at the scrap yard! Manual gearboxes are a relic of the past and I reckon the market would be there for Barra/6-speed.
Turbo TB48 sounds way better than turbo barra I reckon and makes more torque low rpm than barra...tb48 just uses so much fuel though like 20L to 100 kilometres
Hi mate i was quoted $27000 for my 2008 patrol its a auto they told me they replace the valves with stronger ones and tge servos, plus upgrade the stall , 6 weeks they said to build and that was a second hand barra wiith low ks , and no engineers certificate
I am very intrigued by this kind of motor. Been watching different guys in Australia swapping this motor in Nissan patrol and Toyota Hilux. I've been wondering if this is possible to swapped into a 2020 Ford Everest SUV?
It can be done? Yes. Would it be a great idea.. likely not. Id be budgeting double what a patrol or Hilux build will cost. Most of that cost would be in engineering & labor. Youd also take quite the resale hit compared to stock examples & value insurance issues. 2jz gte swaped a mn triton triton years back.. was not fun to get legal

They do this already
200-220 hp ? At the wheels I’m assuming? It would want to be.
Well that was interesting and very informative.
Less music
Was a much better video
Getting quite easy to watch with less music noise.
Videos are getting better !
We always take on board the feedback
Can you please provide some fuel economy stats?
What that’s the fuel economy? Thanks

Do you also offer and option for an Auto trans? And is this able to pass engineering in Vic? Thx

Is 24k with engineered?
How can it only make 200hp at the wheels. My stock fg xr6 turbo made 340hp at the wheels
still has patrol diff and heavy wheels also would need a high end throttle controller

How hard it is to engineer the engine conversion
Will have to get someone qualified to do it. Ask them what needs to be done to pass
