My partner is currently going to tattoo school and has been trying a variety of machines. On Tuesday she did a tattoo a black and white tattoo with a Bishop packer, her 3rd tattoo with it. Yesterday she did an identical tattoo on the friend's other arm with a FK Irons Spectra Xion and couldn't get nearly the same quality of small line work with a 3RL, like there was a lot more play on the needle. Ultimately she wasn't able to finish the design in a day and felt like the other machine was tearing up the clients skin way more, especially finding that she had to do 2 passes to achieve the same color packing. It was a frustrating experience for her. She's looking into getting her own machine since the ones at her school are shared and made available for trying a variety of styles. If she could she'd throw down on the packer right now, but $800 is too steep. I just ordered her 2 of these 'Hello' brands based on this video and will report back in later once she's gotten a chance to use them. Much appreciated for your honesty on this, That Tattoo Guy.

Dont be a brand baby. Ambition has some of the best customer service i have ever worked with. Stop paying over a thousand dollars for a very, very simple machine. Unless you make 200 to 300 k a year tattoong, getting a bishop or critical or a flux should be an after thought. Tattoo equipment is changing big time more afforable options than ever before that are fantastic.
Brand baby? Lol I think if you watch my channel my opinion on most of these big brands is that a lot of them are too pricey. 1 out of 2 ambition machines I’ve used have malfunctioned within the first 15 mins of using it. This one was fine, but the other one was junk. Not saying these bigger brands don’t have issues.. but I do usually prefer to have some type of name behind the machine I’m buying. That being said.. I’ve used a $12 machine before from Amazon and it was awesome. It’s all a roll of the dice

Of corse! Hmm..is your other machines running smoothly still with your power supply ? If they are it’s prob not the power supply. I’ve never tried that machine but if your other machines are running smooth still then it’s a motor issue with the new machine
This was a fun video. I was sure you were gonna rip the knock off to pieces but your review surprised me! I still wouldn't buy it just because of the uncertainties of the motor but it's good to know!
First off thanks for your awesome videos. Just got mine and I'm about to test it out on some fake skin. This is my first time ever with a tattoo machine in my hand. What voltage would you recommend with a 5RL & 11RL for lining, and an 11CM & 15CM for shading and such?
@That Tattoo Guy okay I was just wondering... I bought one in March spur of the moment after months and months of researching every other machine you can think of and felt like an idiot when I ended up purchasing one I know absolutely nothing about... used it a handful of times and everything was perfect then in the middle of tattooing someone it messed up and stopped pushing the needle... I ran a double wrapped coil from amazon for 4yrs that was only $12 the only thing i had to replace was the spark plate but i also was running it max speed for an hour straight to see how the motor would hold up and thatwas after 3 years of using it daily lol
Tyler I just bought both of these based on your video. I know you recommend the EP7 but have you ever tried the 3.5 stroke. If so how do you feel towards it? I’m on the market for a good shader. Any suggestions?
Interesting, I’ve been tattooing for 37years and use coil machines. I buy the cheap Chinese machines 10 for $50. They might need some tuning but hey. At $5 each 🎉😂😂😂. I’ve tried a few rotary’s over the years but haven’t been happy. Probably wasted $2000. I’ve bought expensive coil machines too but the cheapies do just as good a job if set up properly and last just as long. My hands are feeling it now though and I’m thinking I might try again. Perhaps I’ll give this a go.
I've been tattooing for 17 years, and I am also loyal to my coil machines as well. And like you, I found that I can get the exact same results with a $10 machine as a $500 machine. I've got the patience and the ear to fine tune or desk with the inconsistencies. I will say that i do favor my Micky Sharpz though. But like you, my hands are starting to feel it badly. If you put a FAULHABER SR2607 motor in this machine, you would have a wand machine because that’s your motor, for $65 and the price of the machine 😉. The machine have the space for this motor
I feel like just because it works well now is not a great metric to go by for what constitutes a good machine. The cheapness shows not as much when it’s brand new but when it’s been used for years and years. There’s no quality control with those machines so who knows if you get one that works or doesn’t, and if it doesn’t work, then you just have to throw it away bc you can’t send it in for repairs. I feel like that’s a very cheap and wasteful approach to take, and it’s much more efficient to buy something that you know will last. Machines aren’t meant to be gone thru every single year, they should last you years and years and be serviceable. I’d rather buy a machine made by people in the industry who care about the industry, not some fast fashion cash grab repo, that just doesn’t sit right with me.. I get that money is a factor but a bishop machine isn’t even that expensive for a tattoo artists wages, why not invest in yourself and your own industry?

Very interesting video, I’d always recommend buying and supporting professional/credible tattoo brands. As far as the tattoo you did was that an original design? Just seemed like sketchy line work, maybe a better tattoo example would be more ideal for promoting a knock off.
I’m not promoting a knock off.. I showed multiple examples of the work I did with it.. the “sketchy line work” is a first sitting of a design I was working on. Lightly putting marks into the skin is how to save the stencil without putting heavy black line work. I agree, like I said at the end of the video.. going with a well known brand is the way to go.
Had one of these about 6 months now - bought it on a whim just to see how it compares. I use it regularly, and it is awesome. Better than some machines I've spent way more on. Really love the recessed RCA.

The 50 dollar wins 😂
Lol
Had one of these about 6 months now - bought it on a whim just to see how it compares. I use it regularly, and it is awesome. Better than some machines I've spent way more on. Really love the recessed RCA.
For sure I agree. I now want to see how long it will last
Do you use it on human skin ?? How does it work??
and after a year :) ?
just curious ! and what about big needles 14RL etc thanks !
@@jackfaciale Still running strong brother! Good power supply and you're off to the races. Can still push 14RL very well, higher stroke helps with that.
@@Akshobhoyoby good power supply you mean critical I guess ?😅
Or you found another knock off ?
Do you remember how many hours in a session this one can endure?
I think they have build a new version of it called the ambition torped.
Its brushless now and you can get it with 4,5 and 5mm.
Oooh I’ll have to give it a look!
Anybody knows if any disposable grip would fit this machine and if so, which?
Thanks
No disposable fit
Does anyone have any cartridges to recommend for single needle tattoos?
