I upgraded one of my gold colored one's motor to a 15W Faulhaber brushless motor with the mini Torped 3mm and 3.5mm strokes, wuth the Critical X battery pack, a custom made 3d printed 2½ and 3 inch grip, it's a dream machine, for less vibration with the 5mm, I tweaked the curved push rod a little and added a little vaseline at the tip, the db is as quiet as any other BLDC rotary machines, no vibration at all, preferred it over my Critical Torque long stroke any day as my main machine🤘🏻
Yeah you can swap motors, that's the easy way, being half German, having a shop in Des Moines, Iowa, Hamburg and Frankfurt in Germany, I was lucky enough to be one of the 1st employee when it was a start up tattoo motor company/;builder back in the day, referred to my late Grand Uncle Horst 'Tattoo Samy's' son my cousin, working and tattooing, lucky enough to test the motors in many rotary machines, had to go through and test a lot of motors to create the perfect!?!?motor, Deutschland tattoo was the 1st tattoo company to test the motors on their machine but soon switched to their own motors as they sell budget friendly 100-300 euro machines, I think Cheyenne made it a household name for pro tattoo artists, and I became one of their 1st sponsored artist, still working and testing the motors from my shop in Offenbach, Frankfurt, sorry for ranting, us Gen X'ers tend to do that, but managing tattoo shop/company in 2 different countries is tough, plus being an artist and entrepreneur, starting out with coils, still handmade a hybrid adjustable stroke with the Faulhaber motors for some VIP clients in my workshop, and lastly joined my friends, Cheyenne's designer and joined ACUS, still bought a budget maachine with 5 star ratings and changed the motors, don't consider myself a collector, my daughter calls me a hoarder, only sold the hybrid machines I made from the leftover parts from Acus, a wireless almost coil like machines, some adjustable overkill from 1.5-7.0mm strokes, with Injecta Flite X1 like sniper grips, just hand carved my name since I work for ACUS
would love to know exactly how you tweaked the push rod for vibration, I can definitely feel it with the 5.0 cam on mine. honestly it would be really interesting to watch videos on how you do these mods if you feel like posting it, you seem like you know a lot about this stuff ps: I love what you guys are doing at acus (still saving up to get one), every part modular and accesible is how every machine should be, other companies will force you to buy another entire 1k machine if you want to change strokes when the only real difference is the cam
Thank you, since we're still a very fresh company, a start up company as we called it, we aren't new to machine building, I myself am not an engineer, but I campaigned and worked for Cheyenne for a long time working alongside Faulhaber, the story they spread about firing me, the designer and engineer is a lie they made up, we submitted an idea to the CEO and COO that other companies are copying the simple to sanitize and autoclave designs of the Cheyenne machines and are out selling us and that our sales have dropped by 35%, and pleaded to upgrade and make the machinesore high end than it is and that people are buying it for the sake of having a high end Cheyenne machine just for bragging rights at the price point, long story short we were not fired but left at our own free will, putting our savings on the line and be a company people can trust and easy free repairs and parts they can buy, customer service is our number 1 priority, I think a lot of people know the latest model is sold out and are waiting for the new batch, We outsold the Cheyenne Unio by 40%, that is a huge amount and a very big accomplishment for the ACUS team, about tweaking the Torped I willtry andake a video, a short one on the ACUS IG page, according to our discussions, as ACUS is my secondary machine as an old school guy, my custom machines as my primary, all the tattoo videos I've made are not done by ACUS machines, I have put them on hold, but at ACUS working with guys like us with almost 25 years of experience and building machines, motors and grips that suited us, I've made a few demos and tattooing on human canvas with our machines which we uploaded on our page, I can now freely create contenys on my channel, hard for a guy who's camera shy all his life
I have the Torped Mini 28mm version with a pair of Kuark batteries. It's been my main machine since I got it. I got the mini because 32mm seemed too big to me, but I've gotten used to another 32mm machine so now I wish I had gotten the bigger Torped. The mini works great for me, but it makes an annoying high-pitch sound every time it starts.
@WakeTattoos Yeah, I couldn't figure it out either, but the lutin does the same thing I guess. It doesn't affect anything, I just hate the sound. I went ahead and ordered the 32mm torped anyway.
hello , I have been using this machine for a year, and I use elite disposable grips (because they are compatible with my Ambition Torped and my EZ P2s) Do you know if Ambition will soon have disposable grips for these machines?
@@OwenWakeReviews for the Ambition Torped you need ELITE Disposable Pen Grips Compatible with ELITE FLY V3, ELITE FLY V2, NOVO V2 PENS (33.5mm-38mm-48mm)
How crazy I’ve been looking at different machines I kinda wana go back to a coil machine, I just got the CNC Q2 it’s good but I got such bad quality cartridges and I really don’t know but I can’t get good lines and I miss setting up My old coil machine like the needle is bent then slightly pushed against the tube, with the cartridges idk how they are stable ? But I need to try good quality needle cartridges, but I keep wanting to try the ambition torped lol even the 28mm, with different cam wheels as the 4.5, and 5mm cam is kinda not usefull, the smaller one has some better cams
And now that I’m learning more it seems like rotary machines actually the higher the cam like a 5mm is good for lining and with a coil A 2.5mm is best for lining lol are they like measuring it different
Iv seen rwview on this tattoo machine and they say its just as good as the bishop im really thinking about picking it up entil I can save up for the bishop liner
Franky(Franco Vescovi) is all about money, buy this with the Critical X battery pack with the shorty charging dock, believe me you won't regret it even wuthout upgrading Ambition's brushless motor, you'll fall in love with it, 3 machines in one,, you can sóft shade with the 4mm with a light hand, lower voltage with a soft edge cm or straight, finushed my apprenticeship on May 15th 2000 and it's the best I wouldn't say low budget, budget friendly machine I've ever used, believe me I've used a s*** ton of them, sponsored till today by many, hope my fellow sponsored artists don't read these lol 🤘🏻
Amazon also sells Cheyenne and Bishop machines. Just saying, just because something's available on Amazon doesn't mean it's not good. The big difference between ambition machines and some of the more expensive machines (over $500) is usually going to be the motor quality.
I have two of them and they rule, use them with the 5.0 stroke when I’m lining with bigger round shaders and it is like butter.
Thank you for taking the time to inform us with the important stuff- means a lot ❤
You are so welcome!

Perhaps bishop?

I asked ambition why it makes the sound and they didn’t have a clear reason as to why! It’s my only negative point with the machine

Yeah I hate the sound I thought eventually it would stop and was just lubed poorly but never went away it’s a bummer

Hey bro can you post a link to the exact disposable grips you use please
Ambition now has disposable grips for the torped ❤
Wait sorry so with rotary machines do people line with 4.5 or 5mm stroke compared to a coil machine would be like 2.5mm??? Can someone explain
4mm i been using a rotary only and thats the best way
@@dreadlsmc9485 ok thank you and alll around you can throw in lines and all that?? Or what do you use the machine for
You can use any machine for anything depending on hand speed
Can you put the any of the higher strokes on the torped mini? Like 5 or 4mm?
No you cannot, for some reason the cams are built in reverse, the counterweight is on the other side and you cannot secure it to the motor properly.
@@caron400 Ohh ok i see, thanks for the info bro 👍🏼 saved me $80
Ia the torped good for shadeing also if npt which one of the ambition do ypu recommend for shadeing please and thanks
Good for whip shading yes and for generally most shading mars u!
@@OwenWakeReviews thank you very much
Very nice video !!!.... Witch ambition do you prefer for shading?
Mars u!

The distance the drive bar travels! Depends on style machine but 5.0 hits hard 2.5 hits soft
Setting up coil machines are fun
@@OwenWakeReviews thank you man I might get a coil machine again or a rotary machine that’s with normal needles??? Any advice on those
How low is the working voltage on this can I work around 4 volts like the bishop packer?
I’ll check it today
Awsome thank you I’m really looking to buy one just want something that runs into 4v atleast
@ztmoody1 I’m sure it does but I’ll double check for ya
Great video brother! 🔥So best needle cartridges to use with the Ambition torped are FYT & Napoleon? Thanks man!🙏
Thank you! FYT and kwadron are my current fave!
Is this better than the dragonhawk fold pro ?
Yes
Is the ambition still running well after almost a year ?
Yes!
