Hi I’m Rick Shiels, welcome to my channel RickShielsPGAGolf. This RUclips channel is designed to help you play better golf, also to help you enjoy your golf more!
I specialise in golf club reviews, golf club unboxing, golf club news, golf club head to heads, and all about golf clubs.
I also want to make you play better golf by providing coaching video on all topics about golf, how to fix your slice, fix your hook, help you drive the golf ball longer, hit your irons more pure, hit your irons closer to the hole and help you draw and fade your golf shots.
I will also help you lower your score by chipping better by stopping you duff and thin chips, pitch the ball closer and also create backspin. Also I will provide you help to putt better and hole more putts!
On this channel I also make fun and entertaining golf content based on crazy and sometimes “gimmicky” golf clubs. I like to cut through the marketing hype about products and I like to give you the honest truth about golf equipment.

More impressive than the new LA Golf Ball is Rick's ability to casually walk along scooping up balls with his wedge. 🤘😎

I may have to consider these LA balls to be the ultimate game improvement ball. At almost $6/ball, I would be *very* motivated to keep my drives in the fairway and my irons on the green.
That`s a vey good point, i do the same in winter when conditions are not as good.. if i dont find the fairway or go out of bounds..the ball is gone :) it really does help you focus more. my no1 ball is still and will be for a long time is the TP5 PIX :) i cant get enough of them for all round playing....esp putting :)

Holy crap, the first time a new ball actually lives up to it's claims and with quite a margin!
2% more carry with wider dispersion. Not sure that's 'quite a margin'.
@@theythinkimmadyouknow I mean it won in everything can't really say it hasn't lived up to the claims also can depend on how you hit the drive urself not necessarily the golf balls fault
Its not the ball. Rick failed to show the attack angle for the driver difference. Simple as that
@@benjamintracy6149really? You think he's changing his angle of attack to make one ball look better than another? The problem with that, the ball speeds were the same. If the dynamic launch was changing, the ball speeds would not be the same with the same swing speed.
@@Cash_Welch Hang on, you cant say its not the balls fault if you are praising it for performing in other areas. The only area it had any real gain in (factoring in the standard deviations shown) was with the driver in that it gained 8 yards but Rick mentioned the deviation pattern was wider. In everything else it was pretty much the same. I cant see that as a significant margin of improvement and $2.50 a yard more with less accuracy doesn't seem like value for money. Save the extra $20 from a few boxes and have a lesson which will probably give you the same gain in distance without losing accuracy. That said, if you believe it will make you better and want to spend the money that's entirely your choice, however there are so many cheaper options that perform as well as PV1's that the LA Ball seems out of step with the direction of travel in the market place.
Loving these types of tests. I would love to see a massive ball “tournament” where you tests balls of similar price ranges against each other, so those of us who are mid or low market people can see which ones we might want.
mygolfspy does this and way more scientific at that.....every ball test where he is just hitting balls with an inconsistent swing and strike is useless for you
Plus my golf spy separates ball tests by swing speed with driver and irons making it easier to review the results and see which ball would work best for you. Plus the use of a robot takes the human element out of the test with more consistent results.
@@billsinclair313 @maxpfundner2226 only prob with MGS is sometimes its better to see a human perform the test. Also MGS might not be as impartial as they used to be.

You can't test golf balls indoors because Foresight uses an algorithm for flight path and applies that to the spin and trajectory numbers. To the extent the dimple pattern or design effects the flight it won't be shown. The only way to test is Trackman or Flightscope outdoors tracking actual flight.
I never thought the day would come when Rick found a ball better in performance than the ProV1. And he's living up to his job doing the review and giving us the honest data. Now, are they $70 a dozen better? For the average golfer like me, no. I have a hard enough time coughing up $45 - $50 for ProV's. Thank you Rick!
They’re $65 right now. Or buy two and they work out to $58.50/dozen. For 10 extra yards? Oh yeah! I think the average 12 handicap or better would drop $500-700 on a new driver tomorrow if they consistently hit it 10 yards further. In an expensive game like golf, $0.70 more per ball is nothing. With that said, will I do it? Maybe!
Another great review, Rick! I really admire that I always feel I can trust that you’re being honest and not blowing smoke whenever you review golf equipment, so thank you for that.
Don't think I'd ever buy a $70/dozen ball, but always a treat to watch you test all manner of golf gear.

Why would you test this ball versus the pro V one you said yourself this golf ball is a four piece construction. Surely the test would’ve been better with a pro V1 X

On LA Golf website left dash was 2 yards shorter than the Prov1x.

I think I read or saw somewhere that the LAGolf ball is more comparable to a Pro V1x. Probably making it up just like thinking I can actually play golf as well. Cheers!

I’m surprised at the lack of natural bias toward the pro v1s. Ricks been a titleist player for nearly his whole career, no one would blame him for being even slightly bias, the transparency in this review is very impressive. Thanks Rick.

friend of mine bought some of these over from the states and let me have a try with one. I thought they were so so similar to the Wilson Staff Model balls I use, similar 4 piece, spinny, durable and especially lush for distance control with irons

For the average golfer 8 yards short on a drive just means going up a club on the second shot. £20 saved. As a senior at my local course, that's another round of golf. great to watch as always though. 😀

Glad the cutters came out. Great that there's a ball to challenge the Pro V1 but to get a share of the market they've simply for to be cheaper.
