That’s great you were able to remove the drivers side plugs without removing the intake chamber. Was it difficult to remove the electrical connectors from the ignition coils?
You have done a great job. But, I think you tightened the spark plugs too much, it could be a problem when you try to replace them next time. Thanks, I really enjoyed the video
Hey Antwan, good question! According to Denso, the torque values have a range of 15-22 lb/ft for a 14mm FLAT seat plug. See: densoautoparts.com/spark-plug-installation I chose 18 since it's around the middle of that range. Good luck!
So i've read! I'll never own another transversely mounted v6 with half of the components facing the firewall. A longitudinally mounted v6 in a RWD application is much easier to work on!
on my 2005 is 250, its behind the ac compressor. you have to remove the ac compressor to get to the door where the camshaft position sensor is located.
I cannot say for sure. The '15 IS 250 uses the "4GR-FSE" engine. It will be very similar but there might be a few differences with how things are designed and laid out.
The basic process is the same, but the ES's engine is mounted transversely, so it'd be a little difficult getting to the side where the plugs face to the back of the car. In my GS, the plugs are on the passenger and drivers side as shown.
Oooh dude, you twisted them so tight ! The next time when you will decide to replace the spark plugs, you would have to replace head block too). Just because you over torque them!
ez|2a This is what you should look for on that link " Finger-tighten the spark plug into the cylinder head. With a plug wrench, tighten about 1/4 to 1/2 turn (about 1/16 turn for a taper seat plug). Over tightening may cause distortion of the plug housing and in extreme cases, engine damage. Therefore, proper installation is important for the spark plug’s performance and life."
@@mikes.garage If you actually read the text, if a torque wrench is not available, only then should those turn instructions should be used. "Whenever possible, it is recommended that the spark plug be installed using a torque wrench. If a torque wrench is not available, tighten in the following manner:" If you have a torque wrench, why base it on more inaccurate measurements?
Are you sure your torque wrench is reading correct? The way it looked on the video it looked well over 18lb. More like 50ft lb. Get a digital torque meter and check your torque wrench.
I have the same car, 2007 GS350 and after switching out the spark plugs i noticed the car sounds like it let's out air from somewhere in the driver side, is that normal?
Probably not if it's a new noise. There's a hose that attaches to the intake manifold on the driver's side. Check it and any hoses you might have disconnected as part of the process.
Haha I also had a TL but never changed the plugs (got wrecked). The GS was actually the first plug job I did and with the proper universal joints and small wrenches I thought it was pretty easy! Give it a shot with the proper tools :)
@@ez12a thanks man i appreciate it by the way the back plugs in the tl was kinda of a bitch so im sure the GS WONT BE TO BAD 😳 LOL GS kills the tl im sure u agree. Have a good one
Really up to you. When I did mine there was no anti sieze. Also have to consider how often you change your plugs, by the 4th time you should be around 480k miles. Not many cars are driven that far these days.
Great Camera footage! I feel better now changing the plugs
great video, you will be my repair manual from now on. keep them coming
That’s great you were able to remove the drivers side plugs without removing the intake chamber. Was it difficult to remove the electrical connectors from the ignition coils?
They were easy. Just remove the drivers side engine bay plastic to get better access.
ez|2a Awesome, thank you!
You have done a great job. But, I think you tightened the spark plugs too much, it could be a problem when you try to replace them next time. Thanks, I really enjoyed the video
They're fine. torque values from Denso: densoautoparts.com/spark-plug-installation
Nice job. Did you have to gap the spark plugs or did they come gapped?
Thanks! I believe these come gapped properly.
Same process for 2006 Lexus GS 300 with a 3GR-FSE? Thank you for this helpful video.
I believe the process would be very similar
Thanks!
Is this the same job for a lexus is 250 2006. Especially on Bank 2!?
It'll be similar
Very good Video thank you very much
Thanks about to tackle my lex now
@ez|2a Can you replace spark plugs without torque wrench ??
Yes check this link densoautoparts.com/spark-plug-installation
I see you used 18lb ft torque, I seen another video that recommended 23 lb ft torque. What does Lexus recommend? I dont want to over torque
Hey Antwan, good question! According to Denso, the torque values have a range of 15-22 lb/ft for a 14mm FLAT seat plug. See: densoautoparts.com/spark-plug-installation
I chose 18 since it's around the middle of that range. Good luck!
repair manual says 18 lb/ft
13lb ft according to Lexus.
R u guys sure 18lb/ft or 13lb/ ft
What brand of spark plugs and coil packs should i use
I'd stick to OEM. A link to the OEM plugs are in the video description. Thanks for viewing!
Was that the 2.5 l or the 3.5 L motor
The one in the video is the 3.5. from the looks of it the 2.5 is very similar.
@@ez12a thanks you
Great video
The GS is so much easier than the ES! The ES, you have to remove the intake manifold.
So i've read! I'll never own another transversely mounted v6 with half of the components facing the firewall. A longitudinally mounted v6 in a RWD application is much easier to work on!
I just changed the spark plugs in 2007 GS350. Very easy indeed.
Hello Dear, do you know where is Camshaft position sensor for Lexus GS 350 2008, Thx
on my 2005 is 250, its behind the ac compressor. you have to remove the ac compressor to get to the door where the camshaft position sensor is located.
Would this be similar for a 2008 GS460, mine is the v8 model?
The concept will be similar but the process will be different
Wonder if this can be done the same on a 07 gs450h
Is this the same as 2015 IS 250, no intake removal?
I cannot say for sure. The '15 IS 250 uses the "4GR-FSE" engine. It will be very similar but there might be a few differences with how things are designed and laid out.
no intake removal
Would this work for a 2006 gs300?
Should be very similar
Would this work for a lexus 2009 ES 350?
The basic process is the same, but the ES's engine is mounted transversely, so it'd be a little difficult getting to the side where the plugs face to the back of the car. In my GS, the plugs are on the passenger and drivers side as shown.
It’s a billion times harder
Was planning to by 2008 es350 as a daily beater car. Im buying the gs350 instead. Loll.
How many spark plugs do we need
If you have the v6, you will need 6
Nice , I think I could follow you on my gs
Oooh dude, you twisted them so tight ! The next time when you will decide to replace the spark plugs, you would have to replace head block too). Just because you over torque them!
18 ft lbs is well within the torque range for these spark plugs. densoautoparts.com/spark-plug-installation

Tightening the plugs seems to be a bit much ???
Hey david, denso recommends 18 ft/lbs for 14mm flat seat densoautoparts.com/spark-plug-installation
its fine...tighten it, then a quarter turn is ok. i change spark plugs for 34 years without a torque rench. don't get too overly paranoid.
@@joselitogiron4988 definitely not paranoid. I have torque values provided and a torque wrench. Might as well use em!
Damn second guessing do them plugs that drivers side looks like a bitch. My tl was a breeze and the plugs was in the back

Put some anti seize on the of spark plug and don’t over torque it
Really up to you. When I did mine there was no anti sieze. Also have to consider how often you change your plugs, by the 4th time you should be around 480k miles. Not many cars are driven that far these days.
DENSO says right on their website not to use anti seize. Can give faulty torque readings.
The driver side seems like pain in the a$$ 😒
Omg...way over tighten....good luck taking them out...
They're fine. torque values from Denso: densoautoparts.com/spark-plug-installation
No they are correct.
