poor hop- he's probably the first rival to actually be aware of how OP the player is.
I legit thought Raihan had a scripted dialogue peice if your pokemon were over leveled because he said something like "You know this ain't fair, right?"
@@Celestiallide Reminds me of what happened a couple of days ago with my brother. Something for me to remember for the future; NEVER select No Restrictions if your friend/brother/sister is well ahead of you in-game.
And yet people just treat him like another stupid garbage rival. I take A LOT of offense to that. Hop's like the greatest friend anybody could have and his positivity and determination is unlike anybody else's. He's always there for you, fights alone side you, and always has your back. And that is why (in my opinion, please don't hurt me) I think Hop is such an amazing rival.
Bianca and Hugh were also aware of your power.
@@dialga3171 That because nostaligia bitches think you have to be an asshole to be a good rival. Fuck that. Barry and Hop were the best rival on a story standpoint.
Say what you will about Hop, but you gotta admit, his theme bops!
he may not be the best trainer, but he has one of the best themes.
Its hopping and bopping 🕺💃
Gruntilda confirmed for Sword and Shield dlc?!
He’s a good boi so that’s not a bad thing
yo that kinda rhymes hop and bops
Pokémon: hey can I copy your homework
Mario and Luigi: yeah just change it up a bit so it doesn’t look like you copied
Hearing this theme at the same time the phrase "Pokémon Trainer Hop is about to send out Zamazenta" feels kinda off. But it's awesome how you hear such casual sounding battle music when fighting a legendary pokemon XD
I like it from a symbolic perspective because the last battle was all about Hop getting his groove back.
Hop: **Dies**
Player: *HOP!*
Player: **Dances uncontrollably without giving 1-ups to Hop**
Is this a
*Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga*
reference that I'm too
*Paper Mario*
To understand?
Player: **Dies**
Hop: H-Hey! C'mon!
Hop: **Dances uncontrollably without giving the player any 1-ups**
Imagine you’re just trying to battle your only friend to try to test strategies so you can get out of your older brother shadow and you’re being called annoying always
Anyone else want this song in Smash when a Gen 8 Pokémon is added to smash?
Definitely
This song should already be in smash
Absolutely
I don't get it. Do people actually hate Hop or something? I honestly enjoy him and do thoroughly enjoy the multiple rivals again.
casartherandom hops to me is the most mixed bag rival a lot of people hate him but a lot of people also love him
He’s missed potential tbh, feels like cheren bianca and hau all rolled in one but just...undercooked due to how repetitive he is
Rolando Diaz I thought the protagonist in SwSh was named Victor? Did they reuse the name?
@@stanleyvampire5275 it is, the rival's name is Trace, not Victor
birthday mustard, that’s the default name of the rival in Let’s Go Pikachu & Eevee. The default names of your character in SwSh is Victor and Gloria
I can't unhear the SMACK
Hot take, I think Hop is one of the best rivals the series has had
Goes through actual development in questioning whether he can be a strong trainer because of both his brother and the player, even removes his starter Wooloo from his party briefly, then comes to terms with himself and resolves to keep improving regardless, gets recognized by a legendary.
Great character honestly
Oh he’s a great rival, just stuck in a shit game
in my head cannon hop becomes a battle frontier captain and surpasses you in strength
Just got the game, I love this theme
The national wooloo anthem
"LOOK AT THE SHEEP!"
-Fatguy703, 2019
Subtitles: *music applause music applause music applause music applause music applause music applause*
The first rival who has a legendary Pokémon
was N.
@@Abnihs N ain't a rival
@@bubblecoffee7210 Gladion then
As much as it surprised me Gladion technically is. Despite it being a fact aht legendaries cannot evolve until sun and moon came along
Lillie just had a Luna last/solgaleo and she just gives it too the player
Nobody:
Hop: "Whoa, should've known you've mastered effective type moves! Even though we've been over this for at least 5 previous battles!"

Basically if sw/sh had more difficulty.
I like it.
Yeah, it is, but the charizard and corviknight overlap is gonna hurt it a bit
i hope Ho will use the G-max Galar Starter after the DLC
what about Grookey and Sobble Editions, I'm curious as to what you could come up with... also, this makes me think of Easy and Challenge Mode from Black 2 and White 2
@@EvelEyee Not that much, since the only problem with those two is the shared Electric Type Weakness, and Rillaboom and Flapple are both resistant to that (doubly so for the Grass/Dragon Flapple).
"I loved my dear friend Hop, but when he didn't expect me to land a super effective hit, I knew I just had to ruin his and his brother's careers."
Mario and Luigi, is that you?
Whenever I hear this theme, I can’t stop Vibing. Best Rival theme ever!
Nah, its good but not the best....Hugh👀
Hop and Marnie have 2 of the best rival theme IMO. Up there with Brendan/May in gen 3 and Nemona in gen 9.
Atleast Hop isn't as braindead as Hau was.. and this theme always made me look forward to battling him.
Hey, don't insult Hau.
I don't know why, but this theme always has me calling Hop the young lion.
The dislike is from Bede
RadicalSoda: "Bede comes without Hop, HE KILLED HIM..."
why did the ending sound so weird lol
Hop, more like Bop!
reminds me of superstar saga
Dude I normally am tipped off about friendly rivals but hop is an exception he feels emotion when he loses to bede and actually sees that the player is just a god
i agree I like how hop slowly realizes he's not the portage
I don't hate friendly rivals, but Hop and Barry were definitely friendly rivals done right. Both get defeated by an NPC at some point (Hop by Bede, and Barry by Commander Jupiter) amd it gived them both some downtime, which make them realises their limits. That's why Barry decides to baik out after the 2v2 battle with Commanders Mars and Jupiter, because he knows he can't a chance against Cyrus and the Legendary Pokemon. Both later get their groove back. Barry returns to be more or less the same, but Hop changing his vocation from becoming the chapion to a Pokemon Professor was great IMO.
1:26 favourite part
Hop: I like Close fights!
Me With 6 Untouched Lvl 80 Pokemon:
1:26:the greatest plan game freak has made.......they should make a helicopter pokèmon
0:41 it goes down
i can tell this was inspired by m&l ss battle theme
Yup
I love it so much top 5 Pokémon music
*Mario kart*
Mario from superstar saga plays sword and sheild
Uh oh remix
Is it weird that I play this while I’m doing Go battle League in Pokémon Go?
BADASS
I didn't like hop the first time through the games but I think it's nice to see a rival realise that the player is op and he goes through nice character development to get there. I also like him in the doc where you seeing him living life as a professor's assistant. Also his theme FREAKIN BOPS
ccooooll
i love this part 0:56
Battle! Rival hop -pokemon generations
I need the slap sound at the beginning
0:11 my favorite part
1000000/ of 10
I lost count of how many times you frickin fight this kid.
Not enough for him to stop mentioning type matchups and effective moves.
Ten times. Ten. Fucking. Times.
0:32
My favorite part tbh
I may not like hop but i frickin stand up for him because of what Bede said so mean
If you put the speed to 1.25 the music will sound more awesome
Y E S
Pika2198
It kinda sounds like a Mario kart track theme ngl
HIS CHARACTER ITSELF IS NOT SO GOOD BUT THE THEME-
Wow, as disappointing as Sword and Shield were, dang did Game Freak make a great rival with Hop. He's that one rival that makes me go, "Just why can't I lose to this guy!?"
Oh, and this theme's a bop.
Yeah i enjoyed sword and Shield alot i still play it from time to time ill probably buy isle of armor one day just to get that feeling of grinding Pokémon and hops theme is one of my favorites
0:05: the answer is yes
STOP
*Paper Mario*
you made Hop depressive. Are you happy now?
I wonder why in game Hop wants a battle with the player.
Because they are both friends and rivals? They are both aiming for the same goal (Until post-game, that is). And Pokemon battle is a common way to deepen bond with both Pokemon and fellow trainers in the Pokemon world.
@@NeoArashi Pokemon battles are a way to also get stronger right?
@@THATSWASNTVERYCASHMONEYOFYOU exactly. From an RPG standpoint, you don't get experience points until you win, but in reality, anyone would gain experience and grow stronger, even if they lose.
@@NeoArashi that makes sense!
...Only thing about Hop that glaringly bugs me now tbh is the fact nearly all his animations are ripped from Hau's character rigging from Sun/Moon. He's grown on me over time in every aspect--it's just frustrating when he moves almost one to one the same ways.
Also, didn't Marnie reuse Lillie's animations?
0:41:becomes the "REEEEEEEEEEEEEEE" kid
0:52:enters mas toad mode
0:00:restarting point/SO LONG GAY BOWSER/explods/bats on table
A poor man's Hau theme
Explain
At least Hop has genuine emotions.
Hau is just *malsalas*
@@stanleyvampire5275You're kidding right? So you didn't notice Hau's struggle to get out of his grandpa's shadow, his step forward smiler nature that became noticeable as the story went on, and how he finally realized he needs to take battles seriously despite how he usually felt they should be fun and gave it his all against you, not to mention unlike Hop, a loss never stops him from striving for his dreams.
Apollo Justice I’m just trying to say that Hop isn’t lower than Hau. I say they’re equal. As you said, Hau wanted to get out of Hala’s shadow. Well, so does Hop except it’s Leon’s shadow he’s trying to get out of. Hop always took his battles as seriously as he could but he loss everytime. Then he fell into depression (well kinda) when Bede said that he would never beat Leon. At least Hop does that. Hau never had depression because nobody tried to hurt him (well- except Gladion maybe) emotionally.
@@stanleyvampire5275 He did. It was just more subtle than Hop's.
Hops a good character, but I hate characters who talk too much.
*Glares at Zenitsu from Demon Slayer*
bro hop is so trash but at least the music bangs tho
Shut up. Hop is an awesome character. Did you skip all of his dialogue or something?
