I love these build series. I love the hinge body mount. A tutorial video with more details on hidden body mount ideas would be cool. I'm always scratching my head trying to figure out how to mount hard bodies and still have reasonably easy access to the chassis/battery.
You mentioned packing the trucks in a pelican case. Have you ever thought about making a video on packing the trucks and gear for travel. Requirements for airline travel or shipping?
I'm always amazed at the work you do on these trucks. This is another great example of your skills. I'm looking forward to the paint job. Thanks for taking the time to put the video out.
brazing on a metal grate is more difficult, the steel of the grate will absorb a large amount of heat and the solder will be less successful. try using a pair of pliers to hold the piece in place and move the main piece away from the grill. And…nice job, as always 👍🏻
Awesome build! You and Josh make building these look so easy. Started my first scale build and am banging my head against the wall. Lol! Thanks for sharing.
I think this thing is going to perform well. I need to figure out a similar bumper mount hinge for lexan... If you didn't know, 6-32 unc tap will thread the inside of that brake line quite nicely. Make sure to ream the lip before tapping it 😏 (if you cut it with a tubing cutter).
Great trick for brazing. Doing it on a granite tile is buch better. It does not act like a heat sink for the heat and its easier to get the metal heated where you want it with out the metal grate you use taking all the heat away from the part you are heating. (Heating...) They make little 3' extension hoses for the tanks. make it a lot easier than wielding the tank all over the place.
@@claywallen4921 that sounds best good knowing your clay will see you at Nationals if you're going to be there I'm running to class one two and maybe three
Well that's genius, give me some great ideas thank you. Always a pleasure watching your videos, I didn't care for that body at first , but it looks cool. They say never judge a book by cover, wait and read a couple chapters first . I'll be watching more .
FYI, it's not necessary to wait for a previous coat to dry completely before applying a subsequent coat, and it prevents things like your previous coat off-gassing from happening. Pros generally just wait until the coat is tacky and then apply subsequent coats. This also gets rid of the need to sand in between coats. Keep in mind that this only applies on a step-by-step basis. Obviously you should let your paint cure properly and sand between the primer, color and clear coats, but within those steps, its best not to let it dry completely before you lay down more of the same thing. This applies to working with solvent-based rattle cans as much as it does to working with catalyzed two-part finishes (like 2k Clear or Dunlop car paint for example).
I like it! I’m new to rc crawling. I’d be interested in seeing a video of you going through all the ways to get scale points and ways you’ve implemented those options on your rigs.
PETG has been hit and miss for me. For shorter print times PETG works great but I notice for the longer print times I get a lot of warpage and it eventually loses adhesion. I like using it for things that will see a lot of abuse. Good night and good luck.
Can’t wait to see what you have planned for paint. So can you direct me to where I can find those metal tabs you used? I have looked for “scale built” on sbg but can’t locate him. Thanks Matt
Im doing my 1st build, whats the video to watch for painting lexan...do i do it from inside? Also, whats up with the upside down shocks.....i see 2660 and gts traxxas ran upside down.....is that a form of droop? hows it different than the desert lizards....Im building a trx 4 sport kit on gspeed chassis with stock trans, tires, shocks(mini t losi modded) (which will be upside down like 2660's i assume), and axles, with hc links 3brc servo/winch with brood stubby and 1060 brushless hw esc, but mainly i need your lamens/noob terms advice for painting lexan, mostly just painting it white, do i need primer or backer?
I don’t usually like to comment off-topic subjects, but seeing as how you mentioned the body and paint work I’ll ask anyway. How do you add rust effects on a lexan body? I’ve got a truck I want to replicate that has many spots where it’s rusted through, and I’m not sure how to make the lexan look like it’s rusted through. I’m new to painting bodies, and I want to make weathered bodies but don’t know how.
Hey Evan, I'd say the best thing to do would be to start by painting the lexan on the outside. Then most of my weathering techniques I cover in the weathering video will apply.
Is there a website with 3d parts you can print for free??? Kinda new to all this scale building, interested in doing a few things to give all this a try. Thanks 👍

Make sure you have weighed in those front tires brother makes a big difference in competing
Weight in/on the axels is a better option. Less rotational weight the better. Less work the motor has to do
Probably better in the wheels if you're competing helps with climbing and side hilling:)
Marc Anthony Marquez 👍🏼 agree to disagree.

Beautiful Class 2 truck!
Awesome job on the inner fenders, are they scratch built? They look really great.
Of course it matters which of us wins! USA #1
Well yes, of course it does. But when I frame it this way, it won't look like I cared when I lose.
Nah josh. TRUE NORTH STRONG AND FREE!🍁
I've given the Cherokee 6×6 color a thought. They came in a really nice darkish green.
When you have fun doing what ever your doing we all are winning

Wrong wrong and wrong! :)

longest road on earth it seems like..... I'll die before this series is done.
Do you get an extra point every time you make someone laugh at a Josh joke? Jelly bean is a contender!!!!!!
Comp 2 rig is looking great.
Are you going to cover the exposed frame etc in the bed of the truck?
I use a $100 jewelers torch with oxygen/propane mix. Much easier to do fine brazing and details without heating up a huge area
Cool video and nicely presented, yes 2 Jelly Bean, excellent 😎👍
That body is looking awesome.
Great metal slider idea!
You got this pal you'll make it on time
I think the rig looks bad ass!
Reminds me immediately of a 95-97 Suzuki X-90
Gtjoshua I was thinking the same thing
It totally looks like a jelly bean. Paint it lime green with Jelly Belly (Scale ‘e’ Jelly?) on the side.
Lovin the “JellyBean” Great tuck!
I love your build lm looking into a build what would you suggest on building I haven’t built a RC in 40yrs Thankyou
What was that grease you used on the trans gears?
Lithium sir. Bought in bulk!
Looks killer!!
The rear fender well openings need a little more rounding out
That Jelly Beef is hideous. I can't take my eyes off it. I love it. Hip Hip Hooray for Jelly Beef .

Scale Builder's Guild Thanks for giving some advice, I really appreciate it. I’ve got that video saved and I’m about to watch it!
have you already built a wrecker? like Matts off road recovery channel!
Not something I'm into!
Also i mounted my stock canyon trails on steel no nut 3 pc bd locks but they roll do you need to glue these ssd's are most beadlocks no glue?
Did you design the front inner fenders yourself or find the files somewhere? If you did them yourself do you plan on hosting the files?
I did design them, yes. I might plop them up on Thingiverse.
I like it buddy looks awesome 👌
So, did you get points on those sliders? Planning on doing something similar.
No idea, this event was rescheduled for next year!
Looks like the dinkyrc interior would fit that nicely Matt. I have one assembled here if u would like some measurements, just shoot me a pm.
Maybe you've already done a video on it... but I wanna know about that 6x6 suburban or whatever it is in the back!
It's a Cherokee, and I have. Much more to come on that.
@@scalebuildersguild looking forward to it! I actually just found the first video on it haha
If Josh was painting it, he would finger paint it 🖐
Thankyou!!!
did you ever make scale tats for your mini-you action figurine?
Haha, no, but I should!
Holmes just put out v3 of that servo. Which version are you running?
V2

There is! Thingiverse.com has a bunch of things for RC!
Thanks for the info and getting back to me !!!
Looking good Jellybean is a good name ….keep it....
What kind of screws do you guys use? I am still saving up for my first scale rc in the mean time I want to absorb all the information I can.
I'm actually using a set that Josh sold a long time ago, but I'd suggest TeamKNK for all your hardware needs.
Kind of looks like a Geo Tracker. :D
Great job I hope that you beat Josh LOL good luck
This really makes me think of some of JennyMo's builds on tamiyaclub

Little Tikes Cozy Coupe theme and named Cozy Cruiser since it's a LC lol
OMG I love it, but that's not it. Great idea though!
Dose scale bild have a website to get those card tabs cut I don't have Facebook or Instagram
He does, but isn't offering the tabs: www.aircooledapparel.com/Scale-Built/Scale-Built-Accessories

Where does one get those fabrication tabs you used again?

What happened to the reefs rc servo winch?
It's in the Class 1 now. Didn't I show that in the previous episode?
@@scalebuildersguild heck you probably did haha
That's awesome buddy! Looking forward to the next one!
If Josh was doing the body it would be orange or done in a wrap.
pretty cool 👍🏼🤘🏼
how did you attach the metal sliders?
Good question! I drilled and tapped 3mm holes on both the slider and the metal rod, then affixed them to the chassis with grub screws.

I got it at Harbor Freight many years ago.

What type of rc tools do you use?
Could you be more specific?
Hand tool brand
Vanquish

Josh stinks 😜. Keep it real brother... ✌️ They're all looking good 👍
Should work good 😎
Don't send it to Josh send it to me. I need a servo winch for my class one.
