  • It's been awhile since the last fire staff lesson. I think you will like this. Cyle also makes his first debut on the Tamed Fire channel.

    I've been doing fire staff the "wrong" way for years now.........trying to learn contact staff and not do the lazy performance staff moves is hard, but after watching something like that double helix burn I -REALLY- want to try harder now.

      Naphtha, also known as camp fuel or Colemans white gas or Crown.

    Do you know if kerosene has a low enough flash point for me to do that grabbing fire thing? Haha

    Hello, i have completely self taught myself how to use a firestaff over the past year, and i see that i do it very different to you, like putting the staff between my index/middle finger for extra spins etc (i have a 4ft staff from firetoys).. I was wondering if there is even a right way and wrong way to do it, or if it's just a matter of preference?

    • @TamedFire
      @TamedFire  8 лет назад +1

      +CYBERNETICqwerty When the staff is between your fingers there is less control. Not sure what movement specifically you are speaking of but say for example a rotor. The method I teach uses a 360 degree rotation in each hand. If there is another form of handling that allows you to perform a rotor with a 360 degree rotation in each hand then I see no right or wrong way if the movement of the staff is the same just different handling.

      Well, my method consists of more speed, and lots of throws off the index finger in front, and throws behind my back, while i constantly turn around and move all over the place, and use each hand individually as i cannot do my method standing still at all. if you try the figure of 8 with a full hand grip, you you get it as you displayed, but in between the fingers it adds and extra 180 degree, but i do agree you have less control. if you're interested i could send you a short video. thanks for the reply

      In general, when you are doing "Contact Staff" you are trying to roll, not hold. When doing spins, (hand work) there are established grips and moves that are most efficient. If something works for you, well that may be OK, but it also may be that your favorite move may keep you from speed and flow later.

    Hello Mark, How do you know what is the right size contact staff to use. I'm 5'8, is there a standard size staff?

    • @TamedFire
      @TamedFire  8 лет назад

      I recommend anywhere from chin to nose. I use a five foot staff.
