You should've checked Armenia. That one was the most popular, at least in 2021, and the most crowded, guess why - they serve local wine there, which is truly amazing. =) Especially the blackberry one.
The Belarus Pavillion is great, as it fully restored its original purpose: one can buy high-quality food products and other goods from the Republic there! 🏛
Also, the dome of the Cosmos Pavillion is very impressive from the architectural point of view, and the exposition is great! Have been there many times.
Fun fact - the area of the VDNH Park is slightly larger than Monaco.
And the VDNH Park expands into yet another park called Botanical Garden which is as big as VDNH if not larger with beautiful promenades. This green complex is just one of the eight huge parklands in Moscow, each bigger than New York Central Park 4-5 times.
I'm in Russia right now and I surely can tell that it's really a beautiful country. I absolutely did not expect it to be like this!
I am glad you're enjoying your stay.

An interesting fact about the Friendship of Peoples fountain, which not everyone knows. There are 16 gilded girls in national costumes, although it is known that there were 15 Soviet republics. The fact is that in the early 50s, when this fountain was created, there was a small Karelian-Finnish Soviet Republic, which merged into Russia in the mid-50s on the rights of autonomy, after which 15 Soviet republics remained
I never knew that. Thanks!
“Stone flower” fountain is called after a famous fairy tale of Ural mountains region. It tells a story of a local craftsmen Danila and his bride Katerina. He dreamed to create stone flower as beautiful and delicate as real one and one day meet the mistress (spirit) of a mountain. He begs to become her student but she warns him - ones he steps into her realm there is no way back to humans. Not because she will keep him from going back, but because his soul will know no peace at home and there will always be desire to return to the mountain.
Thank you! That's a beautiful story. I like learning about places like this! I'm going to have to take several guided tours should I go there!

Perhaps VDNKh can be compared with Epcot Center or Universal Studios in Florida. The difference is that in Florida all the buildings are decorations - and only the facades - from the back it's like a barracks. Шn Moscow, all these buildings are actually built, including marble, bronze sculptures, real mosaics and unique wall frescoes.
Well, I see what you mean. But it is not for children, for adults more. Or for grown ups with children. Unless there is a show that happens from time to time the reason you go here is nature, architecture, traditions, sport, exhibitions.

Another "place to visit" on my list! 🤩👍
welcome
Thank you for posting this Russell. This was the first place I went to on my first visit to Moscow in 2000. It’s an amazing place! I’ve been back to Moscow 3 times, though sadly not recently! There were no rides in those days! Brings back happy memories!
On the right-hand side as you walk in the main gates there used to be a theme park there for many years, its long gone now. This new park and rides were only recently opened when the Sun of Moscow wheel opened.
Very cool. Thank you. I hope to vist their one day. Love from America!
I hope so too!
That is one of the most historical, beautiful parks and exhibition areas in Russia and the former Soviet Union.

Thank you Russell another great video of a beautiful Moscow park. Really enjoyed it. beautifully cared for and fantastic buildings
Was there last year with my two oldest boys. They loved it!!! Thanks Russell 🙏🏻 😊
Glad you enjoyed it.
Wow Russell 102.000 suscriptors congratulations you are the best greetings from Spain
What an awesome video, Russell! Thank you for taking us into some of the buildings. I think a tour of each one would be fantastic. You are a rock star!
Really stunning park. Thank you, Russell ❤
Hurray!!! My native park! I can see the tops of its pavilions from my windows and all summer my husband and I ride scooters 🛴here. And yet we find something new every time.
I remember this park in Soviet times, when each republic of the USSR had its own pavilion, and there were also pavilions that housed an exposition on any branch of the national economy-oil production, forestry, pig breeding, etc... My favorites were: sericulture, beekeeping, floriculture.
My brother liked the pavilion of boats and yachts🛥️⛵, and my parents liked viticulture, there were tastings of various wines.🥂
After the collapse of the USSR in the 90s, the exhibition turned into a huge store selling clothes, electronics, no one was engaged in restoration.
And now everything is almost like in my childhood-beautiful and joyful. 💕
Absolutely beautiful!
I guess it's a unique place. While travelling I never met anything like that. It's quite popular and a lot to see. If you want coffee and national sweets, go to Azerbaijan building. Also they show a SO SPECIAL national culinary book there - possible to take the pictures of their recipes! Thank you, Russell ❤️🔥
Russell has already learned the city so well that he can lead tours for English learners and students from other cities :)
This was a great video, not too long. This is more interesting than shopping precincts. Good place for people to get a good walk and some fresh air.
Thank you for showing such a beautiful place, Russell! I imagine you could spend a week there at the park, or more.
Moscow is a beautiful place, as is St. Petersburg and other places in Russia you and others have shared online.
It's so nice to see a place that is so clean, and that obviously people care for, and take pride in. I remember when California was once like that. Now, everywhere you go here, there is trash, homeless envampments, etc. It's rather depressing. We certainly need better leadership here in America.
I hope I can visit Russia one day. It looks so beautiful.
You are welcome❤
As a tourist from Saint Petersburg I can tell you - Tsaritsyno and Kolomenskoe are so beautiful places too!
Russia is a beautiful place. I love that it's clean and that people take care of things. I live in California, and I remember when it was once like that long ago. Sadly, California has been let go. It, by and large, isn't maintained and hasn't been for many years. It makes me sad.
It is good to see there's a place in the world where people still care about where they live.
The fountains are especially beautiful in the evening under artificial lighting.
Loved your video, Russell. I enjoy learning more about Russia, it seems like an interesting place to live.

It's one of my favorite places in Moscow also.
Simply a wonderful tour. What an amazing park-- its sheer size is a source of wonder. Thank you again for sharing with us.
And in fact only near half of park complex was shown) Behind the square with rocket and plane there is a huge quieter zone (Botanical Garden, or Botanichesky Sad) with lakes and neat forest park, which spreads up to central rail circle (MCC).
By the way, in one of park districts a lovely attraction is located - a walkway that is designed like "dry bridge". It goes a few meters high up the ground, closer to tree apexes. Shame that we don't have a lot like that(

The population of Moscow? It depends on how to count - depending on whether it is purely a city or an agglomeration, as well as only a permanent population, or the entire available population
1. Agglomeration of Moscow, the entire available population - about 22 million
2. Agglomeration of Moscow (before the Central Ring Road) and only permanent population - about 17.8 million
2. Only the city of Moscow, the entire available population - about 16 million
4. Only the city of Moscow and only the permanent population - 13.1 million

VDNKh is truly magnificent, but it has one serious problem: its humongous size. Even walking from the nearest public transit stop to the Main Entrance is a sort of a challenge for a senior person. All this complex had been built in the times when "World's Fairs" still were popular, and it was designed as a
permanently functioning "Soviet World's Fair". You have to visit it multiple times and stay there for all day long to observe at least a major part of its territory and exhibitions. It's just enormous.
There are some buses from metro station to VDNKH. They are not free, but not expensive. On the territory of VDNKH you can rent scooter, bicycle or sort of riksha. I think they also have free buses on the circle route around exhibition
There are also small electric trams on wheels with a driver. It runs directly into the interior of the park.
Now at VDNH there is a taxi for the disabled, a city bus going from the main entrance on the left side of the park to the metro station "botanical garden", an entertainment train of fabulous trailers that makes a circle around the territory and rentals of scooters, bicycles, roller skates and other means of transportation.
There’s now shuttle bus service that going around VDNKH territory and it’s free.
"The Stone Flower" (Russian: Каменный цветок, tr. Kamennyj tsvetok, IPA: [ˈkamʲɪnːɨj tsvʲɪˈtok]), also known as "The Flower of Stone", is a folk tale (also known as skaz) of the Ural region of Russia collected and reworked by Pavel Bazhov, and published in Literaturnaya Gazeta on 10 May 1938 and in Uralsky Sovremennik. It was later released as a part of the story collection The Malachite Box. "The Stone Flower" is considered to be one of the best stories in the collection. The story was translated from Russian into English by Alan Moray Williams in 1944, and several times after that.

There is also an air eco-trail there.

I've been there and it is really great!!!
I still remember how this place was basically turned into a big market in the 90-early 10's. Then they kicked out most of the local traders.
Yes, I still remember some local open shop (not even specially concealed), where, among other goods, there was a huge strapon dildo. Nothing like this is there today, obviously.
I've read stories about the big markets that were in the park back in the 90s. I sure it was a sight to see in itself.

Hi Russell, thanks for the great review!
This is just the beginning of the park! If you go a little deeper, you'll see that VDNKh smoothly passes into the Botanical Garden, which has nice paths and ponds, various glades and expositions where you can sit and relax under the shade of trees. But that's not all!
If you go further into the Botanical Garden, it also smoothly flows into a real huge forest within the city (and continues into the Moscow region), Losiny Ostrov. In this forest there are both well-maintained paths with benches and meadows, horse clubs and other entertainment, as well as completely wild places taken by nature, like a real wild forest. It’s also fun to ride mountain bikes there. It’s pretty huge. And all this is within the borders of Moscow!
In general, if you look at the map of Moscow, a significant part of it is occupied by parks and forests, which we call the lungs of the city thanks to the trees that make the air fresher.
Russell, not "gostalugi", it's "Gos uslugi", that means "Goverment Services". 😂😂😂😂 Sorry, I laughted so loud when you said it, it is extremely funny!..

VDNKh is close connected to 2 more parks: Botanical Garden and Ostankino, you should try to visit all 3 of them in one day.
Great great video! Thank you very very much Russell! 🤩👍
Thank you Russell! You do a great job!
Great video Russell! It was good to see a few of the pavilions outside of the main central area of the former soviet exhibition centre which we didn't film when we walked around there together last year. 👍
Glad you enjoyed it. I think we could make 4 or 5 other videos on this place. So many places between us we haven't seen.
@@TravellingwithRussell very true
