Yayyy! I would absolutely love a book flip three series. I do so enjoy and love your videos. I hope your tutorials can get longer and longer. Truly just a lovely wonderful channel and artist. Thank you for sharing all your creativity.🙏🏻🙏🏻😁
Yes please, please, please. I would LOVE to see your altered books as well as crackle. I love crackle but for some reason it doesn't love me back :( I have a terrible time with it. I have recently found two bags of old vintage books that are begging to be altered. Your videos are so inspirational. Love learning from you. Thank you
So happy that you are enjoying the videos... thank you so much for your lovely comment. There's already a flip through of this altered book in the Books, Books, Books series (and there will be another coming soon with me talking in detail about each page spread in it) - ruclips.net/video/TYqLY1mSDsI/видео.html There's also a crackle video, if you haven't seen that yet: ruclips.net/video/ydDRv40KKTA/видео.html and coming some time next month, I'm planning a Craft Supplies Deep Dive into various kinds of crackle medium, so maybe there will be some help and/or alternatives in that episode for you to try. Crackle can be affected by temperature and humidity, so that might be something causing your problems. Or if it's quite old paste and has dried out a bit, that will definitely impact on the crackle you get (or don't get). Thank you so much for watching and commenting.
Already love "Books books books" and I enjoyed the start of these pages as much as the finish. Maybe I should have watched your videos in better chronological order, but I have enjoyed every one of them, so not gonna stress over it! Thanks Alison!
Topsy turvy timing... but who's worried?! Very happy that you have enjoyed making your way through the back catalogue. It's been a pleasure reading your thoughts as you watched - thank you.
I'll be sure to turn the camera back on when I have some time to continue with these pages... and there will be some book-flipping coming soon. Thanks so much for taking the time to comment.
Yes I would love to see more of these!! I’ve worked in old books like these too years ago. Time to make more with Alan the new goodies available today.
Happy to hear you enjoyed the start of this page... the next steps are already available in one of the A Few Minutes of Fun episodes. And there's a flip through of the rest of what's in this art journal, as well as many other book-based projects to see in the Books Books Books playlist. Thank you so much for watching and commenting.
Thank you so much - I'm very happy that you are enjoying the videos. I hadn't started the Books Books Books series when I originally posted this one, but there are plenty of books available to watch now. Here's the playlist you can work your way through! ruclips.net/video/TYqLY1mSDsI/видео.html
I’m loving this…especially the one page at a time way of doing this altered book. An altered book can be overwhelming but this page at a time style would work well for me, thank you!!📚📚📚
I really just think of it as an art journal, more than an altered book... the cover is certainly altered, mind you! Hope you'll have fun playing, one page at a time. Thanks so much for watching and commenting.
I'll definitely turn the camera on when I continue these pages... need to find out where they're headed next!! Thanks so much for watching and commenting.
Love the “few minutes of fun”, I think it makes it very doable broken down into steps. Gives us mere mortals a chance to recreate your masterpieces 🤓 Would love to see what you can do with crackle paste and see what you’ve created in a book flip through series. Thank you for sharing your work 🙏
What a lovely comment. That's exactly the intention of the Few Minutes of Fun - nothing complicated, just some easy ways to make the most of whatever time you have at the craft table. Now I just need to work out what comes next on this page spread... I'll be sure to turn the camera on when I do! Crackle and book-flipping will be coming soon... Thanks so much for watching and commenting.
That was really fun to watch! I will have to get an old yellowed book and play around with it. You have so many interesting ideas! And Yes Please! to all the things you asked if we want to see 😊
Very happy that you enjoyed it. An old book gives you lots of character before you've even done anything, and there's no need to worry about "spoiling" an expensive journal. Hope you have fun playing with some of the ideas here... and yes, more books will be coming soon. Thanks so much for watching and commenting.
I really enjoy watching you. Every time you come on I quit go and watch what you have because your tutorials are wonderful I love learning from your creativity. Just love watching you. Please do a flip through of your book when you were going through a little bit to get to your pages I was like oh I'd love to see all of that. Thank you so much 💕

I would love to see you do ANYTHING!! Your work and art is amazing, I am very intrested in a flip through of that book! You make me laugh and I enjoy your videos very much!
I went into our local charity shop today, to look for books. I bottled it haha I wasn’t sure what book would be best, how thick the pages should be, how old the book should be either. My anxiety was high. Then when I got home and thought about it, I realised any hard back book would have done 🤣🤦🏻♀️ I am gonna keep watching your videos, learn more and just get playing. 😊
Yup, any hardback book! If the pages turn out not to be sturdy enough for what you want to do, then glue some together as I do. If the paper turns out to be very porous and is soaking up all your ink and paint too quickly, then you can use gesso (white or clear) to prep the surface first. There's always something you can do if things aren't going the way you want! So yes, breathe and go back and pick out a couple to play with and off you go. Thanks so much for watching and commenting - and good luck!
I LOVE this and would love to see a series of your book flip throughs! I am one of your subscribers but haven’t watched many of your videos YET. That is about to change due to this video. TYFS & I can’t wait to see more. Hugs from Northern Idaho, USA.
So happy you enjoyed this - and I hope the same is true if you're watching more. I've only recently started adding content here regularly, so there's plenty more to come. And yes, book-flipping coming soon! Thanks so much for watching and commenting.
There is a Books Books Books series looking at art journals and other book-related projects I've created in the past - ruclips.net/video/TYqLY1mSDsI/видео.html - or maybe you mean a whole series of making art journal spreads? That could be a thing in 2025... Thanks so much for watching and commenting.
Thank you so much... definitely some book-flipping to come, and I'm sure there will be more journalling pages too. Quite apart from anything else, I need to find out where this page spread is going next!
This is fabulous. I love both the stencils and how you used them. I love your short videos, perfect for my attention span and it means I have one or two techniques or ideas that I can try, instead of a huge event I need to prepare for.
That's great to hear, and exactly what I hoped the Few Minutes of Fun series would offer. Thanks so much for taking the time to share your thoughtful feedback.
I love that you're using an old novel! That's SO much fun. The book is getting a new life and new stories. It's so much fun watching you, and I'm learning everytime I watch your videos.
That's such wonderful feedback to read, thank you. I'm delighted you're enjoying the videos, and I hope you'll be inspired to have some minutes of fun of your own very soon! Thanks so much for your company on this creative journey.
So happy that you are enjoying what you find here. There are lots of flip throughs of various journals available in the Books Books Books series - take a look here... ruclips.net/video/TYqLY1mSDsI/видео.html Thanks so much for watching and commenting.
I do exactly what you're doing here in the way of gluing pages together. I also tear out some pages so as to avoid the gator mouth, giving more room for bulky spreads. Thanks for sharing!❤
I’ve done the same with the pre- tearing out of about 1/3 to half the book as I find by the time you add pockets and journaling cards etc it gets way too chunky. Love your ideas. ❤️💕
@@judycoldicott8233 Yes, if you're adding pockets etc, you'd need to do that! I'm not so much for the pockets and journalling cards look... I like the rusty crusty mixed media textures - and the chunky pages make me happy. It becomes so tactile as an object (and un-booklike!).
So happy you made your way here - welcome! I've only started adding videos regularly fairly recently, so there's plenty more to come. Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment.
The Books, Books, Books series will be starting this coming Wednesday... there's already a short introduction to give you a taster if you check the channel. So happy you enjoyed this one, thank you for letting me know!
Yes, I would love videos on altered books! The cover on this one is beautiful. I love your work! Also, I would love to see how you finished this page. I'm fairly new to this and often have a hard time knowing how to go forward with a page like this. Thank you so much!
I will certainly turn the camera on when I come to the next stages of this page... I don't know what those are yet, though! The planned book series is on its way soon, flipping through and looking at past book-based creations and art journal pages, so I hope you'll enjoy those. Thanks so much for watching and commenting.
Wow I'm so glad I happen to click on your video, your'e amazing to watch. Can't wait to watch all your videos.I sure would like to see some flip throughs!
Very happy you found your way here... I hope you enjoy whatever else you watch. I only recently started adding videos regularly here on YT, so there's plenty more to come... including book-flipping - on its way soon! Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment.
Hi Alison, fabulous video not keen on the shorts but love these videos. Yes you are right, a layer of cling film really helps before you put the lid on your paste with keeping it nice and moist xx
Thank you - yes, I'd seen Tim Holtz do it, but it's never been necessary in the damp climates I've lived in before!! Thanks so much for watching and commenting.
This turned out quite nicely! Using an old book is a great way to journal or to just try out different techniques and mediums. More importantly, it gets the creative juices flowing and gives a maker something to look forward to doing. So much fun! Thank you for sharing your expertise!🤗💕
Exactly that... avoid the blank page syndrome and just get on with playing - no worries about "spoiling" an expensive journal either. Thanks so much for watching, and for your thoughtful comment.
Hi Alison… I really enjoyed this episode of fun and I’m curious to see how you add to this amazing background to finish off the page. I love archival inks and usually use them over painted/gesso backgrounds… I would love to see other items in your “Book Series”… I love all of your videos as they are very interesting and even the shorts are so beautifully edited. I love seeing the snippets of your craft room and completed creative projects (tags)… Thanks for sharing your creativity and inspiration! Have a sunny Sunday! 🙂
Thank you so much for your lovely, thoughtful comment. I'm so happy you're enjoying the videos here. I'll be sure to switch the camera on when I continue with these pages... no idea where they're headed, really, but that's the fun of it. Book-flipping will be coming soon!
I'll be sure to switch the camera on when I get to the next stages... I just don't know what those are yet!! Thanks so much for watching and commenting.
The books are coming... but it's a series of flipping through books I've already made/altered/journalled in - and there's plenty of nature going on in all of them! There will be more journalling videos too - including whatever happens next on this page spread. Thanks so much for watching and commenting.
So pleased I discovered your informative tutorials, especially this brief one that demonstrates how to get started with all the TH products I've been amassing. Thank you.😊
Oh, that's great to hear... I hope you'll have lots of fun playing and experimenting with the TH products. There's plenty more around on the channel here already using them in various ways, and more to come in the future. Thanks so much for watching and commenting.
There's plenty more bookish inspiration around on the channel, so I hope you'll enjoy exploring that. The Books Books Books series is now well under way, and there are flip throughs of this journal there... ruclips.net/video/TYqLY1mSDsI/видео.html
@@w0rdsandp1ctures I have seen all your videoes, I'm now going through them a second and third time. Will be watching them on the plane home tomorrow I think 😉
@@milliedk Oh, that's amazing! So happy you're having so much fun. So with this bookpage video, what kind of thing is it that you'd particularly like to see more of? Journal page backgrounds? Or art journalling generally? If it's stencilling, you're in luck this month!! Happy to add requests to the list of filming ideas... though I may or may not get around to them!!
@@w0rdsandp1ctures Both or really anything you do. I love the aqua colours too, so it's heaven watching your videos. I want to dive into the world of art journaling, so perhaps backgrounds "and then what"... Do one embellish the pages more, and if YES, with what... And so on. Hope you know, what I mean. Would love to see you go pick your dried weeds, to see which ones you pick and how to paint them for your tags. Would love to see a journal from start to finish. Oh and YES PLEASE, more stencils. I love stencils. I want to try watercolours with stencils, not quite sure how to do it, but will have a go. If you have any tips on that, I'd love to see it 🥰
Great... will definitely make a note of stencils with watercolours (though that's really not so different from using Distress Inks in some ways). There are already a couple of journal flip throughs in the Books Books Books series (as you must know if you're already on your second or third go through!). There isn't a journal from beginning to end, because I don't think I've ever completely filled a journal so far (!) though there are plenty of handmade books which are complete, like the one with the gel prints and quotes. And there is the continuation of this page after the background - as well as being able to see how I carry on with pages in some of the art journal flipthroughs... but there will definitely be more journal pages being made in the future. Thanks for all the suggestions.
I read the description for this book (“Love in Another Town”) on Amazon, and IMHO you have made this book 1000 times more interesting with what you have done to it. 😂 Yes please to a book series. I am loving this page so far and can’t wait to see it finished. Brava!! 🙂🤩
That made me laugh, thank you. There's a Barbara Taylor Bradford fan elsewhere in the comments who might disagree... but it's a bit late for me to read this copy now to find out!! I'll be sure to switch the camera on when I carry on with this page - no idea where it's going yet, really. And yes, there will be more books coming soon. That's lovely to know - thank you so much for your company on this creative journey.
Of COURSE I’d love more looks at your art anytime so 🪻YES🦋 to the flip thru❣️❣️❣️
Ahhh, thanks, Lynn - always great to hear from you!
More videos of anything that you are happy to share with us, I love your videos and explanations. Thank you
That's so lovely to read, thank you. Plenty more of all kinds of things on the way soon.
I would love a book flip too. This few minutes of fun was cool. I like how the grunge paste adds such great texture.
I love texture... the more, the merrier! Happy you enjoyed it, thanks for letting me know. And yes, book-flipping coming soon!
Love the background, thank you.
Thank you... now to work out what's going to happen next!
Always so inspiring! Thank you sharing all your creativity and ideas! ❤

I'll be sure to switch the camera on when I get to the next stages... I just don't know what those are yet!! Thanks so much for watching and commenting.
Would love a book series! Especially if one were all nature themed
The books are coming... but it's a series of flipping through books I've already made/altered/journalled in - and there's plenty of nature going on in all of them! There will be more journalling videos too - including whatever happens next on this page spread. Thanks so much for watching and commenting.

Happy Day Alison. I enjoy watching whatever you decide to have a play at. And yes, please do a little crackle paste and book series.

Wow - this is fabulous! 👏
Thank you - happy you like it. You can catch the next stages, collaging over the top, coming soon... Thanks so much for watching and commenting.
My idea book is an altered book. When it got too full, I repurposed the spine and I loved it a lot more that way.
That sounds great - I love the character you get with using old books. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Love this altered book idea, I will try it! ❤
Probably my favourite journal, even though I've got some expensive ready-made ones! Thanks for watching and commenting.
Wow... Loved watching this. Very inspiring. ❤
So happy to hear that - thank you for letting me know.
Very cool!! Thank you!
Happy you like it - thanks for commenting.
Would definitely like a book flip through, I love all your artwork. Thanks for sharing your talent.😊
That's lovely to hear, thank you so much.
I would love to see a flipthrough. 💜💜💜
Great to hear - thanks so much for taking the time to let me know.
I would personally looove to see more videos like this one... ❤
Yes please to the book series !!!
That's great... more books coming soon!
I would love to see your flip through!
Great, thanks for letting me know... there will definitely be some book flip-throughs coming soon.
I read the description for this book (“Love in Another Town”) on Amazon, and IMHO you have made this book 1000 times more interesting with what you have done to it. 😂
Yes please to a book series.
Thanks so much for your company on the journey.
I loved this and would love you
to do the book series you referred to. Happy Day
