I have a 2020 Silverado 2500 with the 6.6 Gas engine that I bought new in August of 2020. Today it has 82,300 miles on it and 99% of all my driving is without a trailer. It’s more of a rough riding station wagon than a work truck. The mileage works out to be about 12 mpg around town and around 16.5 mpg on the highway. What I found is that the different fuel blends winter / summer that we get in Florida negatively affect my mileage more than any other factor.
Scheduled maintenance is done by the dealer using their oil and my oil consumption is exactly one quart every 5,000 miles.
My original Goodyear tires lasted 62,000 miles, (I pushed the mileage), and the only item outside of standard maintenance that needed repair was one of the seat vibrators for lane changes quit at 5,000 miles. Not one thing else. Best vehicle I have ever owned.

I've had a 6.8 v10 gas F250 since 2000. I drive it everyday, its my work truck. Its how I make money. 10 MPG. Its got 288k miles on it. Original engine and transmission, everything. I looked at the 7.3 diesel when I bought this one. The smell of it running irritated my sinus. I factored in oil change, fuel filter expenses $ 7500 for diesel option as opposed to the gasser and figured I would come out ahead. I did. Yeah, I took a lot of sass for not getting the tried and true 7.3 IDI but no regrets.

I have a 2020 F250 7.3 gasser.. Love it..and had diesels since 1996. I still pull the same front end loaders and 16k pound boat and (my wife calls it the Silver Bullet-LOL) gets it done nicely and my cost of operation is way less. I added a Carli level suspension lift with 37's, Tremor running boards, wheel lip moldings and the short valance..Looks like a Tremor on steroids...and drives like my 04 GMC 1/2 ton...very smooth. In our fleet we also have a 24 GMC 6.6 w the Allison which is a major improvement over the 6 speed we just traded in. I still prefer the 7.3 and the better towing control I get with my F250 vs the 3/4 GMC truck. Looks department I like the GMC and interior Ford. Both trucks are Silver with Black accents..no chrome. The difference in performance between a 6 and 10 spd is as obvious as a punch in the face. The 10 spd will outperform in all conditions over the 6 spd.

I'm picking up my 2024 AT4 6.6. gas next week. I bought a new 2023 last fall but wanted the refresh all along so I'm just biting the bullet and trading up now. I am perfectly fine with the 23 with the 6 speed. I've put 13,000 miles on it in 6 months and some of it was heavy towing. Heaviest I towed was about 18,000 lbs and it pulled it ok. I live in western KS where it's flat so that does make a difference. I think the new 10 speed will be even better. Only knock on the 6 speed is the 2 to 3 to 4 shifts. It has a flat spot in 3rd gear under heavy loads. Ten speed should help that. If this new 10 speed is quite a bit better may never buy another diesel again. I have a 2015 Duramax which has been great, but honestly the 23 gas does about as well as the diesel other than maintaining speed on inclines. That's where the torque of the diesel shines. If I lived in a hilly area I would go diesel. I can get away with gas out here in the flatlands. Lifetime mileage on the 23 is about 12. My Duramax with 125,000 is about 13.7 so with the cost of fuel gas wins right now.

I can't help but smile about the parallel evolution the 6.6L represents. Basically it is a modern, stronger version of the Chevy 400 small block used in earlier decades, simply a stroked small block to increase torque yet give some semblance of gas mileage when unladen. Ditto Ford's 400 of the same Era.
That said, love my new 2024 6.6L gasser paired with the Allison 10 speed.

I have a 2014 F-150 with the 3.7 engine, have used a few brands of synthetic, and the Amsoil has very little burn-off compared to the other brands I have used. I go no more than 15K on an oil change (oil is good for up to 25K under normal driving) as I do tow and idle a lot. I barely burn off 1 qt over that time period now. If you can good on you but for an average Joe who just needs/wants an "affordable" daily driver/work vehicle you hit every single point. I've considered every HD truck and by the looks of it the Custom 6.6 gasser is the right fit for what I'm after the truck, I kept my last truck being a 2018 Power Wagon for almost 4 years until I have to sell it because it's just too big to be shipped and driven in Europe. Looked at diesels too just really can't stomach the maintenance costs on a vehicle I'm not even going to use constantly for towing or hauling heavy stuff hence my inclination with gassers since they have the right balance of power and torque compared to where they were 10-15 years ago. I think the boom really started with Ram being the first break the 400 HP mark in an HD truck. Years ago if you asked me about a GM HD gasser much as I like how boxy they look (GMT K2XX) those Vortec 6000 were just a dog of an engine for these GM gassers. I'd love to test drive the newer L8Ts with the Allison since other videos I've watched that upgrade really helped the 6.6 perform better.

I got the 2020 2500. Looked at the 7.3. 8k more for the ford for the same truck. I bought to pull my 5r. I'm 18647 loaded total. According to cat scales anyway. The chevy pulls just fine. I drive with the manual mode. I average between 10 to 12 on flat roads and 8 to 10 in the hills. I haven't passed 36k yet. In fact my last trip I hit 35k flat. I've got a friend with the ford I almost bought. He's had engine, tranny, rear end, and leaking water into the truck problems. Mind you he has 20k more miles than me. But he's had 5 times the problems than I have. The only issue I've had is squeaking brakes. The other issue I have is I put 640lbs of bumpers on it. So yeah I've fded up my extra towing capacity. But I've hit 4 deer and a wild boar so I'm happy with them. Being a ford guy myself. If they fix the issues with the godzilla I'll buy 1. And yes my oldest is an original 1965. Still running. My newest is a 2017. And yes I have both gas and diesel. My oldest diesel is and 84 ford 4 speed with 384k on it and no its never been into. It will burn oil above 80mpg though. When we get the new 5r in a few months I will have my new truck. I ordered another chevy. 3500 dually with a diesel. It's an z71 with the cameras and a max tow. 34 of the 42 options. 68k. The same ford quoted at 87k. You can pay for a lot of things with an extra 19k in your pocket. Dodge is just not an option for me. Yes I own a couple. A 74 3/4 ton with a 360 and a 92 dakota with a 318. Good trucks for what they are. New models. No. All in all I've been happy with 6.6 gas. They just need to offer true pulling gears. When my warranty goes in a few more months. It's getting a manual tranny and 4.29 gears. My rear bumper is 1 of a kind. So can my drive train. All my trucks are manual but the chevy. But not for much longer.

It’s not the wheels. The 20” wheels are wrapped by tires that have the same diameter as the 18” wheel tires. What makes the new pickups so tall is simply the engineers setting the truck higher. People really like taller trucks… until they have to load and unload.
