Bought a 2024 in June. Now with 4000 miles. Been an absolutely amazing truck. Pull a 16k fifth wheel at high elevation. Zero oil consumption. Came from a 2020 Duramax.
I had a 2020 Duramax too. I loved the truck. Power was insane by comparison (pulling, no real difference empty). Fuel mileage was not what i expected though. Only 2 mpg better in all the same conditions/situations. Ultimately that truck just kept the check engine light on. In its defense I think it was a bad ECM because after they replaced that the check engine light made it over 2 weeks and hadn’t came back on but I traded it away. But no joke from November 2020 to May 2021 it never made it 2 full weeks without having atleast one check engine light come on. Always was “lost communication with TCM”. If it would have been red (it was white) I would have kept it longer to see if it was truly fixed but I was fed up with it.
How are the seats compared to the 2020, do they have more cushion? I had a 2020 Denali Duramax too and sold it due to the rock hard seats. Road trips were not comfortable at all.
Just purchased a '24 Silverado 2500 Custom gasser a couple of weeks ago. It's a truck I had not given much thought to at all, before watching your channel. I moved up to it from an F-150 to tow our travel trailer with more comfort. I have to say, I'm already a massive fan of this truck. I couldn't be any happier with it. We're looking forward to many years of towing and driving with it.
I’ve really enjoyed your content. It helped with my decision to move away from diesel to gas. Had a 2019 L5P and traded it in for a 2024 6.6L gas 2500. Only 1k miles in but don’t regret a thing. I think your analysis is spot on. Keep the good content coming! 👍🤟👊
Allison wasn't a "nobody"... they just weren't known in the consumer market. They were true HD. Same with Cummins at one point in time. That being said, this new 10 spd is "Allison branded"
I just got the 2024 Silverado 250o HD Custom a out a month ago. I love it. I had a Nissan Titan. The Chevy is on another planet. Still learning the ends and outs of this truck.
Just bought a 2024 chevy 2500 custom. Gasser. And so far so good. Love that the engine is just a plain jane well built small block v8. No nonsense no bs. Just built like an engine should be built. Hoping it lasts the next 10 years.
Congrats on the new rig! Kong is at 31k! It works and works and works. And the custom trim is really a well equipped rig, the look, the wheels, still my favorite. I have no doubt it will be a great rig.
Three months ago I just got rid of a Duramax diesel 2400 HD Chevy pick up lotta software problems took it to the dealer for just an oil change had it for a year I only had 400 miles on it and the mechanic said to me, it’s a good thing you didn’t drive it, because the emission software would’ve blown out the cylinders with too much fuel I said to him hold that thought and then I traded it into a Tahoe with a 62 gasoline engine that unfortunately has dynamic fuel management so then I got rid of that one and now I have an electric hummer and now the electric world is crashing so today when I am leaving this comment I’m going to buy a 66 HD pick up truck great engine, cast iron block no dynamic fuel management and all you have to worry about is using good gas and change your oil every 3000 miles That’s the truck you want bare-bones no problems
Bought my 2024 L8T at the end of August. Unfortunately had a transmission leak near the transfer case that I noticed a few days after I brought it home, been in the shop now for a week. Hoping for a good outcome. My old truck, 2021 Ram 3500 Cummins HO dually, is still sitting on the dealers lot…
I love your videos and I love my 22 gasser the same way you do your 24. But....let me try to clear up some misnomers concerning the 10 speed trans. It is a 10L1000. Just like the one on the diesel. But it's not. The gasser 10L1000 has a smaller torque converter and less clutches. They are of the same size but less clutches in the clutch pack. Now it would be cool if they were the exact same trans. for reliability but they are in fact not. They have the same designation larger number (10L1000) but are totally different if you add the dash to the actual part number. I was curious about that when they first came out as well and couldn't imagine GM putting in the same exact 10 speed diesel trans attached to a gasser, it was confirmed they are not the exact same beast. Just FYI. But I'm not saying it's not a great transmission. I think it is, I love my 6 speed but how can you go wrong with extra gears right? Keeping the gasser in its torque curve with the 10 speed is amazing!! I think it's awesome! I was just trying to clear some things up is all.
No issues on my '22 Big Red. No oil consumption. I did install an oil catch can for peace of mind. It has collected some fluids. Should collect more in the colder months.
Something interesting. If your thinking about installing a truck camper, you cannot use the cargo capacity sticker rating. In the glove compartment their is a truck camper max rating sticker.
I'm picking up a unicorn.. a 2023 Chevy 3500 Express cargo Van. The last van that they make the 6.6 l for. With the exceptions of cutaways and passenger vans. It only has about 250 mi on it. Getting toolbox and ladder rack on it today.
The new chassis trucks are 100 times better than the pre 2020 trucks, i sold both my old chassis trucks because these are so much better.. i have a 2500 and a 3500 dually now.. love em
So I had a 2014 Silverado 1500 that I would sometimes work like an HD, 149,000 trouble Free miles! Not one issue with v4 mode or the direct injection.. Not one issue!! I only had to replace the radiator. That transmission is NOT an Alison! And for the hard shifting, the soft shifting causes more transmission wear.. If you want a smooth shift but a car!!!
I have the duramax lt z71. Tows about 11k. Mountains, CA, UT, CO, WY,ID 22k on clock, little less than 11k towing. Been damn near flawless. Has brake controller issue when solar panel charging not turned off on trailer, that's it. Had a 2002 duramax 20+ years ago. They've come a along way. Going to put this one into camper duty soon, maybe gas would have been better for the cold places it will go. Best tower Ive driven, agree about lack of comfort on ford.
Your videos have been awesome to watch and learn about the 6.6 Gasser. I have a lawn mowing business and I have been towing everything with a '06 Dodge Ram 5.9 Cummins for 9 years. My dump trailer with grass and equipment weighs in at 6500lbs. Do you think the '24 Chevy 2500 6.6 Gasser will be able to handle towing this rig day in and day out? I don't go up and down a lot of hills mainly flat land. Do you have any concerns about the long term effects on the engine and transmission of towing every week with this gasser? I do know the 10 speed Allison has got to be a game changer for towing all the way around but wanted to see what you had to say. Thanks for all the awesome reviews, they have been very helpful.
I have a 2018 Chevy 3500 6.0 and use landscaping and snowplowing . Has a trailer on all landscaping season with a dump insert. All winter a fisher polycaster during storms loaded with salt with a blade on the front. Absolutely no issues with my truck. None! I had a 2021 Duramax I sold cause issues . I ordered a gmc 3500 with 6.6 and Allison. I’m personally done with the expensive diesel’s for my type of work. I don’t think you would have any issues with towing with the 6.6 .
I have a ‘24 Silverado 2500HD Custom 4x4 Z71 Slate Gray Metallic. I get many compliments on the color and people like the fact they brought back the bowtie on the front instead of the word Chevrolet.
Your information has leaning towards the same truck on my next purchase. I have a landscape company and I don’t tow a massive trailer but at times need more capability. A diesel truck would probably be a bad idea as there’s a lot of stop and start with short trips between clients. Thanks for the info.
Excellent video, my friend 👍🏼🙏🙏 Wife and I just placed an order for a GMC with the gas engine And yes, if you’re constantly driving at 70 mph, how can you expect great mileage
Beautiful truck. Red Hot is the best color. Glad that you’re liking it. The GM trucks really do tow better and just handle weight in general better than the Fords and especially the Ram 2500s. The 2020+ GMs are incredible. My 2022 has 32,000 miles and so far it’s been so good. If interest rates were better I’d turn my 6 speed into a 10 but I honestly can’t complain about the 6.
Great video! I have a 2023 GMC 1500 double cab, looking to get a crew cab, standard bed in the future, without the afm… I’m sold 18.5 mpg too isn’t far off from the 2.7L.
@backyardscaler my experience with the 2.7 is the fuel economy isn't all that great at all which is surprising and not too much better than these bigger v8s
Turbo would be better the supercharger will make the fuel economy suffer tremendously at least with the turbo you have a chance with the same fuel economy your currently getting.
Awesome content & info , luv your videos & expertise. Was wondering how the breaking was thought on the passes with the steep grades here in Colorado ? ? Vs the diesels exhaust break ? ? Thx again , was undecided between the F350 Godzilla & the GMC / Chevy gassers . Is GMC the same just higher trim levels but same engine / transmission ? 👍⚾️
Thanks for the fair and honest reviews. I’m ready to buy one for myself. One question…. Does this truck have adaptive cruise control? I’m hoping the answer is no because I had it. Thanks for your time
Absolutely, thanks for being here. the custom doesn't have the adaptive cruise. The lt and ltz its part of a tech package so it can be omitted if you don't need some options, but want more options than a custom trim has.
Enjoyed this video very much! Could you send me the info on the stuff for the help on towing??? The helper stuff for the ride and steering of truck. Thanks
Great video my friend. I have a question, why is it bad to use tow haul mode all the time to avoid ram deactivation?? Reason being I read a comment on yt and I started doing that about a month ago. Will it damage anything running tow haul all the time?
I have been looking at the LT hard. Don't need all the fancy stuff that breaks or needs an expensive repair later but the new interior is really nice. Cloth seats are fine with me in fact i have heard they are more comfortable than the leather seats. L8T is a great reliable engine. I always say keep it simple and thats what the L8T is. Your videos are awesome
Good videos ! Unless your actually need a diesel because your hauling heavy loads a lot or that’s all you use it for they don’t really make economical sense , especially these days with the emissions, def fluid. and more expensive maintenance & repairs especially like CP4 failures.
@arcadiaoutlaw the l5P duramax uses a Denso HP4 pump, GM scrapped the cp4 a while ago, they also use a lift style pump at the tank, and the fuel filter is now a cartridge style, next to the fuel tank instead of under the hood, much easier to service
Does octane effect fuel injector performance. I would say are you changing out the fuel filter on any particular schedule differently than manufacturer recommended interval. Do u need high octane if it is timed for regular octane gas. I like your review. Tu.
Thanks, I appreciate it. As for those answers, there isn't a fuel filter to replace easily, so I would just leave it. The manual says to run it on 87 or better, the system adjusts to the octane a person uses, but I haven't seen a huge difference, just what I've always done on my gas trucks. The zilla actually de powers itself if you use less than 91. I think that a better octane would help reduce wear on injectors and less carbon. But I wouldn't have anything personally to prove that.
I purchased mine a a couple of weeks ago. Every time I get in it, I find more bells and whistles. Some I like, some I don't need, some I turned off. I do love the truck. It pulls great, while I find plenty of power but mileage is poor. I am getting no better than 8.4 and hope that it gets better. One thing that has been bothering me is the steering wheel is off to the left a bit. I have watched a ton of videos on this truck and they ALL seem to be off to the left a bit. If I let go of the wheel, no matter what road I am on, the truck drifts off to the left. I took it back to the dealer, they put it of the rack and said it was within spec. Within speck if it pulls to the left?? Anyone else experiencing this?
I’ve had the ford 250 2010 diesel and have currently the 2019 250 gas . they have all been good the 2010 was more comfy but the 2019 is a brick hurts my back .
I test drove Ram Ford and everything in-between. I bought the same 2500 6.6l Chevy custom 4x4 and it is flawless I could not be happier. I haul alot of loads in my bed and it does amazing stable and with 0 squat.
Thanks I appreciate the feedback. As for the gearing. Chevy does well with the trucks ability at almost 19k towing with a 3.73. Ford you have to go to 4.30 to even get that high. But I honestly like the 3.73 as the mid weight rear end for great towing, keeping RPMs down, and fuel economy.
@@automotiveinquiries9673 I appreciate the quick reply. I would most likely go with the chevrolet for a gas option. It would be nice to have the lower gear option like FORD and RAM offer. But I see the logic in why they do not.
I’m getting one in regular cab for work. I’ve only ran Fords so I’m nervous. The Ford does sag under any load or trailer, it has Timberins. It is reliable as hell, never failed in 15 years till the starter went last winter. What octane do you recommend?
Chevy says 87, which I ran both 87, 91 and ethanol free clear gas. Truck performed like a Rockstar with all of them. I think you'll enjoy the ride of the chevy and the allison, definitely less sag also. I did run mostly 91, just because I've always tried to run premium, but it's not a necessity.
We bought a new 22 GMC Denali with the 6.6 and just the 8 speed transmission made 10 trips back and forth from Tulsa Oklahoma to Michigan never had a issue pulling a gooseneck trailer with 4 horses in it hauled 12 horses
EPA has just ruined diesels. My buddy has a 22 Duramax and the fuel pump blew and needs to replace the complete fuel system. I have the 6.2 Boss but that Chevy looks good.
I heard that the Bosch fuel pumps that are supplied to GM, Ford, and Dodge fail due to the poor lubricity of US diesel and there isn’t a replacement. Supposedly European diesel is better all way round including emissions.
Nice truck and a thorough description of the vehicle. I have a 2019 1500 with the 5.3 8spd. I really like the truck and am thinking about trading for a new one in a year or so. I don't really need a HD truck but I remain concerned over potential lifter failure in the light duty V8s. Mine has been fine and it delivers great fuel economy as a daily driver back and forth to work. What kind of mileage does your truck get on routine daily commutes? I do like the 3.0 diesel as well but I am unsure that the increased fuel mileage over the 5.3 really makes up for the higher diesel fuel cost, def fluid requirements, etc. And the cost of the 1500 trucks has gotten so high it is not much more to get the HD model. I do haul a light utility trailer, an enclosed trailer, and some firewood. Your thoughts?
Thanks for being here and watching. You are 100% correct, you can get a nicely optioned hd truck and Never sweat ability, and other than the 1500 diesel, you'll get about the same MPG's with the 5.3, 6.2 and 2.7 turbo as the 6.6 l8t. The 3.0 diesel is great on fuel economy and is rated high for a half ton on towing, but, you ad the diesel emissions stuff and potential issues. On the l8t you'll get 14 to 17 on the hwy, and in town you'll be 11 to 14. No active fuel management on the big guy, so it's rock solid. But if you can option the little durmax right, it will be the highest mpg truck in the half ton segment. I would pass on the 2.7 turbo though as it doesn't get that good of fuel economy. Chevy has continued its active fuel management in the v8s.
What kind of payload rating for a slide in camper does Chevy put on a crew cab truck such as this? I like the 20-inch wheels on the Custom trim is there any downside to those that you have experienced.
@mickeybrumfield764 3399 was the payload. The tires and rims were no hindrance to the payload. I love the custom 20.inch wheels also. There isn't a custom trim in the 3500 if that is needed, and you can still get those custom style wheels on the LT 3500.
@automotiveinquiries9673 Thank you for your response. Yes, with the 20-inch wheels, I would assume you get maybe 1/2 to 1 inch more ground clearance over what you get with the 17 - or 18-inch wheels, plus it just looks good. That payload number sounds like the payload for the truck that is on the door area. I am interested in putting a slide in camper on the truck and was wondering what Chevy rated that at, I believe it is in the glove box area. You know Chevy/Gm doesn't publish that anywhere I can find, and Ford or RAM doesn't have any kind of rating for payload for slide in campers. I actually respect the GM people for their honesty here. I think there is something to it for maintaining the health of the truck for those who use a slide in camper on a regular basis.
@@automotiveinquiries9673 I have a 2024 6.6 gas…..bought the J&L and soon as I got it on, I suspected a vacuum leak, I got increased air sound coming from it. I pulled it off instantly. I’m not the only one posting the same leak sound. I’m not going to risk it. After I ordered this J&L, I found an article from an engineer on these 6.6 engines and he stated they have a two stage catch system built in to prevent recirculating oil. Years of dealing with after market products, I should know to just leave the engines alone and follow the engineering protocols. Lol. Not too old to learn I guess.
Thanks for all the info. I'm looking to buy a 3/4 Ton for pulling a small Fifth-Wheel across North America in the near future. I want to live on the road for 6 months to a year, and I don't want to pay for a luxury 2500. I think I'll look at some used Chevy 2500 LT trucks in a few years and see what kind of deals I can find. I was originally planning to buy a 1500, but have learned that the 2500 is the better way to go when pulling a quality fifth wheel. Thanks again for all the info....especially the details regarding why the gas engine is a better choice than the diesel.
2024 Chevy 2500 HD Duramax LTZ here. NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS! Limp mode and dashboard lights at 200 miles. Happened several times after. Software update from dealer, hard shifting. 2200 miles, transmission leaking. This model year is a LEMON! DO NOT BUY! This thing has and MSRP of $87K! The dealer can give 2 craps about it.......The worst purchase of my life
That’s because all diesels are having issues from the big 3. This one is a gas engine 6.6 with a 10 speed transmission with Allison stamp on it. Suppose to be much more reliable then the diesels due to def and epa emissions crap.
In my 12k, almost all towing, zero oil consumption. My friend who is a contractor bought the truck from me and he is at 30k. Zero oil consumption. We do however always change the oil at 5k, and never stretch it out to the higher approved intervals.
I have a 2022 AT4 6.6gas 19k on it and truck gas been at dealership for the last month with the motor torn apart, they said number 8 and number 6 pistons are bad. Dealership was sent replacement wrong size pistons, I swear you can't make this shit up!! I loved my truck until this happened and GM isn't any help. No idea when parts wil be available, ask GM to just give me another truck equal to mine and they said no. They suck , spread the word!!
Sorry to hear that brotha. It seems like a crap shoot on new trucks these days some success, some failure. Dealer don't seem to want to fix things. All the capabilities of the new trucks is awesome, but older and simpler does sound good.
I tow a 17000 lb 5th wheel about 4K miles a year currently have old 5.9 diesel drw . Thinking of nee truck and would like gas on a 3500. Do you think 6.6 gas would be ok ?
I think it would get it done just fine. I don't think you'd even need a dually unless you preferred that. This 2500 pulled the Cruzin castle a 40 foot 17k 5er this summer in the battle of the plains series I did and it handled it great. I think 20k plus is a lot to ask of a Gasser, but under that. I think it would do great, and the rest of the time you aren't pulling, you can enjoy better fuel costs.
@jimhmod so yes and no. If you have the 5th wheel prep system in the ford and you are staying ford, yes, they should be fine. If you need to go to a chevy the cam systems will not line up. If you have a standard above rail hitch and you buy the Reese adapter for the chevy (with factory 5th wheel prep, yes you could re use the hitch) let me know if that's what you were asking about.
Hmmmm I guess my nephew who is a master GM tech and diesel tech is wrong then about the Allison not been a true Allison. They are built by GM and licensed by Allison so it’s really just a name and no the 10 speed is not the same in the duramax and 6.6 gas they have different internals. Just a note not all 8 speeds used by ram or dodge are true ZF either, the 8 speed in my new Durango V6 is a Chrysler built 8 speed again licensed by ZF as I found out after I bought it thinking it was a true ZF
You can think whatever you want but it is Allison approved. Also, the only difference between the diesel 10 speed and gas is the programming and a slight difference in torque converter. Everything else is exactly the same. The smoothest most reliable 10 speed on the market currently…
@@Billybob50119 Allison approved but still not but built by Allison…..not like the old 6 speed Allison. I asked my nephew why he won’t buy a new truck and he says cause of the transmission, his is a 19 L5P
@@justinm9815 that’s a great opinion 👍 Meanwhile the 2020+ GM HDs have been selling by record amounts. The 10 speed has been a huge game changer not to mention the new body style as a whole
I don't have any power steering noise at all. Although we did get a new power stroke at work that had a slight wine when pressure steering under low speed. Topped off power steering fluid and it went away. If your level is good I don't think that any noise would be acceptable.
I am baffled at all the reviews on this engine. I sold my 2015 sierra 3500 diesel and bought a 2024 sierra 2500 at4 gas and hate it! Power is just not there, especially towing and fuel mileage sucks. I'm trading it in after 2 months
I disagree about towing, gm’s independent front ends seems to be to light while towing! My tremor towed wonderfully for a gasser it was a f350. Interior comfort in my opinion is far better in the newer fords!
IFS is superior in ride and handling. The Ford while loaded is jittery and darty and solid front end wanders. The interior of the Ford has higher interior noise along with wind noise from the aluminum cab and door variance. Ford is also behind in camera and touchscreen technology. This channel has shown that the GM HD has been the best truck at everything while the Ford ate itself from cam and lifter delamination while also not handling a load as confidently.
Wait untill 40 k transmission is leaking wipers stop working radio doesnt work and 4x4 didnt work off the start and the service takes forever to visually look at the transmission(no touch) to then order the part it needs when its a highly common problem that they should stock on a shelf
With respect, you misunderstand the Ford ‘squat’. Everyone thinks its a sign of wimpy truck. ITS BY DESIGN. More leaf springs engage as the weight is increased. So you add aftermarket bandaids like air bags, you completely erode the intent of the Ford engineers, who are much more qualified than an airbag designer. All 3 brands take a different approach to rear suspension, it doesnt mean Ford is weak. For what its worth, I have owned and driven several of each of the big 3, and hands down Ram 3500 was the most stable under a heavy load. i am only talking SRW here. All 3 in Dually I find to be about the same.
@FredJacobs-ql4mq true. Factory rake is different on all three. It's normal and definitely not a sign of weakness, so I agree for sure. People just wish to know how much it "squats" over normal ride height. I traditionally use just timbrens if there is no factory sway bar to help with sway. Although some trucks the appearance of squat is way more than others.

Does your truck have the oil consumption problem?
I’ve really enjoyed your content. It helped with my decision to move away from diesel to gas. Had a 2019 L5P and traded it in for a 2024 6.6L gas 2500. Only 1k miles in but don’t regret a thing. I think your analysis is spot on. Keep the good content coming! 👍🤟👊

Congrats on the new rig!
No issues on my '22 Big Red. No oil consumption. I did install an oil catch can for peace of mind. It has collected some fluids. Should collect more in the colder months.
Everything you need and nothing you don't need. Basic and solid.
+1 Timbrens. Simple install and zero maintenance
Something interesting. If your thinking about installing a truck camper, you cannot use the cargo capacity sticker rating. In the glove compartment their is a truck camper max rating sticker.
Absolutely 100%
I'm picking up a unicorn.. a 2023 Chevy 3500 Express cargo Van. The last van that they make the 6.6 l for. With the exceptions of cutaways and passenger vans. It only has about 250 mi on it. Getting toolbox and ladder rack on it today.
That is a unicorn, congrats.
@@automotiveinquiries9673 thanks I'm excited. It's been a long time in coming..
Great video - thank you. You made my decision so much easier.
I get many compliments on the color and people like the fact they brought back the bowtie on the front instead of the word Chevrolet.
that was only if you bought the "custom"
all other models still had the bowtie
I've had my l8t 3500DRW for 11 months w/ 33k on it. It's a beast.
what kind of mpg do you get with the dually

Wow impressive review!! I have been going back and forth between the Ford and Chevy..and you totally helped me make up my mind! Thank you!
Thanks, I appreciate the feedback. I have spent enough time lately in the 24 godzilla and still prefer the chevy gas better.
Your information has leaning towards the same truck on my next purchase. I have a landscape company and I don’t tow a massive trailer but at times need more capability. A diesel truck would probably be a bad idea as there’s a lot of stop and start with short trips between clients. Thanks for the info.
I appreciate you watching and I definitely recommend the L8T over diesel.
Excellent video, my friend 👍🏼🙏🙏
Wife and I just placed an order for a GMC with the gas engine
And yes, if you’re constantly driving at 70 mph, how can you expect great mileage
100% spot on.
Youve got me sold on gas brother. I can always add a supercharger if I want more power. This
engine sounds like a bulletproof workhorse.
Turbo would be better the supercharger will make the fuel economy suffer tremendously at least with the turbo you have a chance with the same fuel economy your currently getting.
Look at the l8p cam. Simple cam swap gets you up to 523 hp and like 520 tq. Easy peasy. Then add your boost to that and you have a monster!
Thanks
Enjoyed this video very much!
Could you send me the info on the stuff for the help on towing??? The helper stuff for the ride and steering of truck.
Thanks
Great video my friend. I have a question, why is it bad to use tow haul mode all the time to avoid ram deactivation?? Reason being I read a comment on yt and I started doing that about a month ago. Will it damage anything running tow haul all the time?
"May not like how it looks"? The new Chevy's are badass lookin I think.
Thanks, I appreciate you being here. I'd do an lt with the gas also. Just because it has the updated interior for sure.
2024 Work truck 2500 gas . love the vinyl seats and floors . so far so good no issues .
Right on! Congrats on that rig! I did tons of tow videos it crushed every other truck!
Do you think it needs the option for a 4:10 rear gear? Great job on the videos by the way.
Can I ask what size tires you have on your truck?
Good video

You are 100% correct, you can get a nicely optioned hd truck and
Never sweat ability, and other than the 1500 diesel, you'll get about the same MPG's with the 5.3, 6.2 and 2.7 turbo as the 6.6 l8t.
What truck would you recommend for a person that's 7ft tall who is all leg?
My 6.6 ⛽️ dropped lifter at 100 thousand miles
That's horrible, sorry to hear that. did they get it get it fixed?
What kind of payload rating for a slide in camper does Chevy put on a crew cab truck such as this? I like the 20-inch wheels on the Custom trim is there any downside to those that you have experienced.
@mickeybrumfield764 3399 was the payload. The tires and rims were no hindrance to the payload. I love the custom 20.inch wheels also. There isn't a custom trim in the 3500 if that is needed, and you can still get those custom style wheels on the LT 3500.
@automotiveinquiries9673
Thank you for your response.
Actually GM sold Allison to Onex like in 2007
Question. Catch can on new 6.6 gas……needed or not? Would love your opinion! I’m hearing the direct injections really could benefit from a catch can.
I've never added one, but I would be interested in seeing if one did, what happened with it.

Good stuff..
What has your oil consumption been in your time of owning your truck?
Are 5th wheel units for a 2016 Ford F250 SD compatible to the new Chevy HD's??
@jimhmod so yes and no. If you have the 5th wheel prep system in the ford and you are staying ford, yes, they should be fine. If you need to go to a chevy the cam systems will not line up. If you have a standard above rail hitch and you buy the Reese adapter for the chevy (with factory 5th wheel prep, yes you could re use the hitch) let me know if that's what you were asking about.
Do they make solastic shackles for these trucks?
It seems diesel power offers some of those shackles for different years, makes and models
@@Billybob50119 not what I was told but ok, and that’s right from a GM master tech

@@justinm9815 that’s a great opinion 👍 Meanwhile the 2020+ GM HDs have been selling by record amounts. The 10 speed has been a huge game changer not to mention the new body style as a whole
It's built by GM and was thoroughly validated by Allison. It is a 10L1000.
I have 2024 Sierra HD with gas engine and do you have that power steering noice ?
I don't have any power steering noise at all. Although we did get a new power stroke at work that had a slight wine when pressure steering under low speed. Topped off power steering fluid and it went away. If your level is good I don't think that any noise would be acceptable.
Thanks.I will try to do that .
I am baffled at all the reviews on this engine. I sold my 2015 sierra 3500 diesel and bought a 2024 sierra 2500 at4 gas and hate it! Power is just not there, especially towing and fuel mileage sucks. I'm trading it in after 2 months
I had a 2020 Denali 2500 Duramax. I couldn't imagine that huge truck with a gas engine. Its a very heavy truck.
I disagree. I have towed with both, and the IFS GMs ride better and are more planted and precise, just like he says.
Definitely a more stable feeling with solid front end
Wait untill 40 k transmission is leaking wipers stop working radio doesnt work and 4x4 didnt work off the start and the service takes forever to visually look at the transmission(no touch) to then order the part it needs when its a highly common problem that they should stock on a shelf
Not the same transmission as the one found in the diesel. Still great but not the same.
Why would you get a Silverado HD over an HD Sierra? The HD Silverado's are so much more terrible looking. I don't understand it.
@ShadyGrady3 I like everything else on the new Silverado HD's...but the front end is a no go for me. The GMC department did a much better job I think.
F250 are better
