I will me towing a track loader/trailer combo with a total weight of 11,000 pounds once or twice a year for 350 mile round trip. Much lighter loads more frequently. I actually had the owner of a reputable Chevy dealership highly advise me against a diesel. He said dealing with the DEF, DPF, and related emissions issues was a nightmare for many people. It was an easy decision in my particular situation to go with a 2024 L8T/Allison 10 speed combination.
I’m very impressed as well. I have a 2015 6.0 and she has 210miles. I tow 14k camping trailer and she’s been good so far, zero issues.
You don’t drive much.
Guessing he forgot the K
I think the truck performed well. These new gas trucks are a great option for someone who doesn't tow all the time. I myself do not want to deal with emissions and wouldn't work a new diesel the way it wants to be worked and will be ordering a new Chevy 2500 or 3500 with the L8T.
Yep, imo the gassers are the only option unless some makes their $$ towing high mileage. Anything less than that niche' owner, in modern times the gasser is it.
Same here, full time or traveling back and fourth across the county, Diesel. For the guy like me who tows 9,000 pounds to OBX twice a year and camps within 300 miles of home 6 or 8 times, it’s 3/4 gas all day everyday! Gas trucks have come along way the last few years
That 6.6 L8T is impressive, seemed to stay right in the torque band at 4000 rpm, smooth and quiet.
I’m not sure how we have 10 speeds now and 3800rpm was that best choice at WOT…
@@breadcat6454Huh??
This is the video I've been waiting for. Now I would love to see the gasser do a decent road trip pulling that trailer.
I hate pulling Parleys Canyon, mostly because of other drivers! Some people have no consideration for others that are towing! They just do whatever it takes to not be behind you! Great video! 🙂
Then slow way down and stay your self in the slow lanes behind the big rigs and stop weeving in and out of the slow and middle lanes .
Great review JB! I think this gasser is just fine for those not full timing and driving frequently in the mountains. Personally, I want a diesel even though I don't necessarily need one at the moment. That said, weighing wants and needs is a major life struggle!
JB rule of thumb go down the hill at the same speed you went up the hill. In this case you went up the hill at 50 miles an hour, but came down the hill at 63+. Start your descent at a slower speed.
Yep cruise control set at 50 and it would have done way better...way too fast to start off at..
As someone who pulls a 19 bow rider behind a 34 fiver I would strongly encourage matching expectations to equipment and circumstance. That is a lot of camper on a lot of grade. Asset prior you are asking the uphill to be done on 70% of maximum capacity. By the same token, you are relying on engine breaking exclusively on the downhill. The truck performed well.
This truck might be just wat I need for my 5000 lbs. travel trailer. More than wat I need but not over kill. Thanks
Perfect
Awesome video. I'm actually looking at a 24 2500 with the 6.6 gas right now. I'm tired of dealing with all the issues I've had with my 2015 ram with the cummins. You can't beat a diesel when it comes to towing, but I'd rather sacrifice a little while towing to live with the day to day driving of a gas engine. Thanks again for the video.
Me too my exact thinking, I have a camper that gets moved maybe twice a year…this looks like a solid option
It’s my view that the gas trucks have reached the point where they make more sense for the vast majority of RVrs including those towing larger 5th wheels and doing so full time. The simple fact is that the diesel engine will cost you a lot more to buy upfront, it will cost more to own and operate, and it will only recover around $6k of the $10k+ you paid for it at resale time. Yeah an exhaust brake is nice but you can absolutely descend the steepest of grades safely in a gas engine by getting geared down and applying your brakes occasionally which won’t come remotely close to getting them hot.
The only reason to buy a diesel is because your RV is heavy enough that you need that level of power (something like a DRV or a big toy hauler) or you just want it. But we should stop pretending that a 14k or 16k 5th wheel demands a diesel engine especially if your full time. It just doesn’t.
Well said 👍⚾️
All you needed to do was set the cruise control and tap the brake twice it would hold... I do it all the time... or drop it into 3rd and let it riv up to 5000 rpm....
Finally the video I’ve been waiting for
Best raw action video yet. I could tell you where enjoying yourself on this one!!
Thanks for this review. I just ordered a Silverado 2500 Max Tow Diesel based on your reviews and pointing out the Max Tow option. I do pull a 14 thousand 5th wheel monthly and pull it to Florida from Pennsylvania every winter. I'm trading in my 2015 Seirra that I currently use. Thanks again.
I have a 2024 2500 max tow. It doesn’t cost?94,000? If anyone thinks that is even close, needs to find another dealer.
This truck really does a great job with my 13,500 lb fifth wheel, the Duramax is the way to go if you’re towing anything. Also gets 20 mpg combined when not towing. Beats the gas engine, I had one that got 15 at best.
@cisco1dog Stop it cowboy, 20 mpg combined?
@@Rccrdawgs I have a picture of the dash, but the RUclips won’t let me upload it to respond. Yes, when not towing, my combined fuel mileage is almost 20 mpg, like 19.7. I haven’t taken any long trips to call it highway.
I think you should do mpg test the right way and not count on the other way.
Appreciate this vid. Been debating diesel or gas for my new/used truck. Had 2016 2500HD with 6.0 for a couple years. We pull our Grand Design 324mbs. Actually did about the same as this one going through the blue ridge and smokey mountains.
Nice video. I’ve skimmed through the comments and haven’t seen anyone mention this but you absolutely killed your momentum when you let up on the grade to get down to 45-46 mph. It’s amazing the truck got you back to 50 honestly. That goes for diesels too but obviously they can recover better than a gas engine. But even still, a steep enough grade and heavy enough weight and you lose momentum like that and you are done lol.
Also noway that double tanker was loaded that passed you lol. He was definitely empty.
Looked like the truck did pretty good though. You stayed at or below 4,000 rpm the entire way. I am a little surprised that the temp was 210-212 range. That seems a good amount hotter than most other 10 speed reviews towing similar weight.
As for going downhill, I usually don’t use the manual mode but that is a viable option. With my 6 speed truck, once you hit the brakes about 2 times it shifts all the way to 2nd gear. I do think grade shifting is a little bit of a problem with the 10 speeds. That’s a downfall to having close ratios I guess. So I may would just use the manual mode in a 10 speed and downshift it as low as it would allow for a steep grade.
I agree with you. The only reason the trans got up to 210 is because he slowed down. I have the diesel my youngest son has the gas 6 speed and my oldest son has the ford 7.3. Gm’s 10 speed is the best. It keeps you in the right gear speeding up or slowing down. The six speed does as good as expected. The ford 10 speed is very busy.
@@billylee2312 the Ford 10 speed also runs much hotter. Most test show it being 20-30 degrees hotter than the GM. So based off JBs driving style he could have seen 230 or even 240 with the Ford.
@@matthewanderson9912 yes the ford runs 210 running down the highway empty. I think they are both good transmissions just designed a little different. The ford wants to be in the highest gear possible and the chevy just wants to be in the right gear.
It would be interesting to hear an interview with the engineers who designed the new 10 speed about the temperature they run.
My ram hits 210 on flat roads towing, usually over 190 just driving unloaded. The temp gauge was in the middle on the Chevy I’m sure it’s fine
I have a 2023 gmc 1500 duramax 3.0 and just cruising the temp is around 200
The Ford engineer said their 10spd was designed to run at 247° all day. That's a little scary coming from a Ram with a 68rfe. That trans doesn't like anything over 205°
My 6 speed duramax runs 180-200 all day empty. Towing it stays at 215-220 and peaks as high as 245 when towing 20K fifth wheel on big grades. Perfectly normal. I just service the transmission every 30-40K.
I only towed my 5th wheel with a dually so I don't know sway. I want to try a 5th wheel with a SRW truck.
I will say good job towing. It is good to see how a gas truck tows in the mountains.
That's a nice truck and every year they seem to be adding more power but I'll stick with my F450! We drive some hi ways with very long 8-10% grades towing our 44ft 5th wheel which weighs about 14500-15k loaded and just cruised right along in 9th gear mostly at 60-65mph and still averaged around 11mpg even with 430 gears.
Went from two different half ton gas to a 2023 3/4 ton Duramax to pull my half ton towable. The half ton towable really wasn’t a half ton towable rig. Love the torque, stability, and braking of my new truck.
Had a 2021 & 2023 2500 gas one long box one short never disappointed me in any way, coming from a prior 2018 Duramax which also performed very well but towing 14,000 pounds fairly regularly the 6.6 gas just kept up fine. good video would love to try the 10 speed in the future
What part of the country are you in?
Ontario
That's cool to watch you since I live in Utah and I am a Chevy owner they say the 6.6 gas engine takes a quart of oil every 1,000 MI
It all depends on what you wish to do. I have a 34 foot toy hauler and while sometimes the Harley can go it’s more for the added space that I can decide what to do with. I configure it as needed with kayaks , the bicycles , Harley.
The party deck is always nice.
I have also sold and owned a lot of RVs. The only one I didn’t like were 5th wheels.
The reasons ? Due to the high ceilings cooking is an issue even with 3 50k units. If you run all three at max they will trip fuses all the time. Even the best units like the grand designs
They are extremely heavy. People often really overload them and then wonder why they cracked the frame. I have seen them in the shop way over loaded.
I am using a GMC 2500 turbo diesel that’s a a 2023. I get 10.1 MPG. Loser with a trailer weight loaded of 9-10k. I am pretty happy with that.
I love that blue interior that high country is 👌🏻
Cool. I recognize the terrain in eastern Utah grade on I-80. Nice area of the country. I never towed up it, only down it, because I hot-shotted travel trailers for 4 years. Always pulling to the west out of Indiana, I would drop my trailer, then head east up the Wasatch to go home. The big challenge was at the series of hills we called The Three Sisters outside of Evanston, Wyoming. I ran with a Cummins turbodiesel, and I typically climbed those kinds of grades at 52 mph, 2200 rpm. The low-speed, high-torque power output of a turbodiesel sure spoils you. The engine never feels strained.
Your truck did well holding WOT at 3800 rpm, 49 mph for most of the hill. That's just a nice workout for the engine.
Set the cruse at 45 and let the truck do the work, it’ll probably hold around 60 on that steep of a hill but you’ll do less braking. Normally GM grade braking doesn’t engage in less your cruise is on or your on the brake. I normally just press the brake enough were the lights come on, gas braking isn’t as strong so definitely start sooner than you would in a diesel. I tow about 10k with a 14 LTZ 5.3l e85 regularly and the grade braking definitely helps, I had an 05 before and it’s sucks without it plus the rear brakes suck on 03-07
Why is it the same transmission behind the gasser they're having it run much hotter than when they have it behind the duramax??
Question...the Chevy and GMC 3500 Gas trucks are EXACTLY the same as far as towing correct??
They have the same exact frame, engine, and transmission. So I’d imagine yes.
Roughly. It depends on options & whatnot, and it’s VIN specific.
Man thank you for a great review, I'm bidding on this very truck right now on ebay. My diesels are killing me with the maintenance just replace a regin. system on a 2021 F350
I once towed our old 6.5k travel trailer with our Suburban with the 5.3 on that same route loaded with 5 passengers and our dog, and could only manage to keep it at 47 mph on that steep grade (I think I turned off the AC as well, to give us a bit of extra power). That is a fantastic testing route up I-80.
75 mph! 😮
If it was 20 years ago...Diesel, hands down...but now, with not only up front costs...and Diesel fuel cost...Its Def fluid..12 to 15 quart diesel oil changes, Diesel fuel filters..AND the amount of Particulate issues and def injection problems, software, ect that I saw in our shop...I am DONE with Diesel! I think I can put up with ''DRIVING'' the Monster motor Gassers instead of being a couch potato with the Diesel!
Have you tried taking the traction control off while hauling will it let you do that. I have the 2024 Sierra AT4 2500. And I noticed if I take the traction control off I get better acceleration because the computer is not trying to stop the wheels from spinning out
Off topic, Nice Haircut and Beard trim Brother.
My understanding is the when you have it on tow mode and grade braking is on, your brakes are not slowing you down but the engine is doing it. I have a V10 in my motorhome with the 5 speed torqshift tranny and my brakes do not come on.
Some newer trucks are using service brakes or, at least, applying trailer brakes with cruise control on. Another RUclips channel pointed out the trailer brake activating (indicated on the dash) during the downhill portion of the Ike. I think the conclusion was that it was vehicle and trailer & related to adaptive cruise.
@@jeffs2809I see. So the newer trannys will activate the brakes when it downshifts? I don’t think my 5 speed does that.
I have a 2019 ram2500 6.4 tuned by Demon Motorsports, I tow a 10k trailer to Maine about 3 hrs there and I got 8.4 mpg
What are you using for your trailer sensors to be compatible with the truck?
Can you do video on manual shifting? Put it in low gear. That is how you can manually change gears with the 2 buttons on the shifter. It shows what gear you are in
if GM won’t make a larger gas engine comparable to Ford’s 7.3 displacement, they need to gear the hell out of the L8T. Give consumers another option besides 3:73. Throw some 4:10’s in a pickup version and maybe even 4.44/4.56 in a dually “max tow” or chassis cab configuration with this power plant.
The 3.73s KILL it, 4.10s should be standard, 4.56s would be perfect!
Imagine a Ford Godzilla Hybrid w/ electric assist & nice Pro Power Onboard?
Just to have the cam and lifters delaminate
@@Billybob50119 LOL or you could have a L8T and have to put a quart of oil in every 2000 miles.... Decisions decisions
@@ryanboytim896who is doing what?
@@ryanboytim896never had that issue with the l8t. Definitely had Godzillas sitting around waiting for parts from the dealer though.
Can’t wait to compare it to your diesel with the same transmission
I enjoy your honest reviews and content. I think you are a bit spoiled by the diesel truck. Diesel was not even an option in my mind for the amount of towing I do. I am very pleased with my 22 L8T truck even with the 6 speed. If you have an issue on the trailer tires, will the DIC alert you no matter what screen you have up on display at the time?
Have you done any videos on the different 5th wheel prep packages between Ford, Chevy, Dodge and GM? Please do, if not. Wasn't aware of of differences like being mounted behind the axel. Thanks for the info. HUGE help.
Great video & comparison , however for those of us looking to purchase a diesel or gas 1 ton truck to pull a trailer only maybe a dozen times a year for Boondocking & then use it for our daily driver what would your recommendation be concerning Quality, reliability & routine maintenance ? ? After watching many “You Tube “ videos of the Ford gas ⛽️ New Godzilla’s with engine & transmissions issues & the issues with diesel emissions on all new trucks I am leaning toward a gas engine with reliable transmission like the Allison . Spending 70-100 k on a new or few years older truck I want something that’s reliable , both from an engine standpoint & transmission. Gas mileage is important but I am not buying a one ton truck 🛻 for fuel savings , more for reliability & safety on towing up & down these passes of Colorado & out west . I tend to keep my vehicles forever , have a 1995 Toyota Landcuiser with 250,00 Miles but can only tow 5,000 lbs . Would buy a HD Toyota Truck if they ever built one . Thx again , luv your info & videos & content. 👍⚾️
this transmission is rated to run 120C for life by the engineering team (248F)

Stay with Diesel guys if you plan on towing heavy…especially if you plan on fulltime RV. Weekends are fine for short hauls with gas. My opinion!
I transport horses with this engine for a living. I couldn't disagree more. My GMC 3500 DRW is perfect for what I do.
@@chadmiller6487 do you travel the country up and down mountains 20k-25k plus all year long. I doubt it. Some people are buying these 3 axle 5th wheel toy haulers and listening to folks say gas engines are the way to go. That is farther from the truth. You don’t have to agree, but it’s a FACT …diesels are the way to go for day to day heavy pulling. Enough said.
@@diamondhead203 my 2023 GMC 3500 is 8 months old and has 28k on it. I haul horses to/from MD, FL and Indiana.
@@chadmiller6487 cool story. Let us know the state of your gas engine when it hits 100k. My bet is if you run these trips daily-weekly….you will one of two things….sell it do to lack of performance or completely overhaul the engine. Our trucks with gas engines in the farming industry never lasted as long as our diesels. I don’t know why you keep rebutting my statements or challenging what I say. Everyone that knows anything about trucks and engines know diesels out perform gas and the diesels have a shelf life on average of 350-500k miles before major engine repair needed. Gas engines are capable of pulling…never denied that, but if you depend on your truck as a fulltime RVer and you pull heavy, it is highly intelligent of you to spend the extra 10k and get a real engine made for pulling.
@@diamondhead203 I always trade my trucks in before the 100k mile warranty expires. I'd never attempt to run a work truck into the ground and have to be responsible for all of the repair costs. I've also been in business for 21 years so I'm not looking to be educated. I know that my 2023 drw 6.6 gas is rated to pull 19k lbs which is as much as any 1ton diesel circa 2020.
My 2024 didn't get here yet. I didn't buy a diesel do to pricing. But every truck I had before was diesel. My last diesel was a 2012 3500 dodge dually with 6speed manual. U want some good braking buy a dodge cummins with 6speed manual with the exhaust brake u would never have to touch the brakes. The automatic trucks the exhaust brake doesn't work that good.
I have a ‘17 ram 6 spd manual right now, my previous one was a ‘14 Cummins with the 68rfe. While the manual is fantastic with the exhaust brake, that ‘14 wasn’t too bad either and leaps & bounds better than the powerstroke. My company truck is a ‘22 f350 powerstroke, the exhaust braking in it is nearly nonexistent. It pulls great, tons of power, just very lacking with the exhaust braking.
I have a 11,000 lb pull behind travel trailer that I plan on full time camping with when I retire. Any suggestions for a truck? Thanks in advance.
You’re avg 19.4 mpg normally that’s pretty nice 😎👍
I think it did decently on your tow trip. Of course diesel can handle it better but it’s an extra 11 grand 😅
Why is your front truck tires in the high 70’s for pressure?
My 2004.5 lly was giving me turbo and egr problems this summer, just orderd a new 6.6 gas. Im excited to see how it performs pulling a 11k pound trailer on the wheat harvest run. Hopefully i won't regret it.
I bet it won't do well based on this review. I've got an lly and it does great at 10k plus towing. This review was bad at saying what elevation and showing the hill vs dash
I have cts3 monitoring for all temps, gears boost and regen
how did the Diesel do?
What gear do we use uphill and downhill with trailer, thanks?
Thank You. Ordering my Chevy 2500 next week...
Go 3500
If I wanted to buy or order a 2025 HD Truck, should I order a Chevrolet, GMC, or Ram? Which truck has the best exterior and interior? Which truck towes the best? Should I get a Cummins or Duramax?
Good stuff, wish they made hybrids for starting at the line and going downhill for regen on gas trucks.
Great video JB. What's the payload on this truck vs what it would be on a gas 2500? Would a 2500 have performed just as well?
I have a 04 Chevy 3500 with the 8.1 gas (496ci) with the Allison transmission and 410 rear gears. It does very well for hauling 16 round bales of hay weighing 1200 lbs a peace. Plus the trailer weighs 5,500 lbs. I also have a very nice 01 Chevy 2500hd Duramax Allison that does well. For the heavier loads I take my Chevy 3500 8.1 gas , you can’t beat a 3500 1 ton for hauling and pulling heavy loads.
That duramax will still out pull the 8.1 by far, unless there's something wrong with it
@@jimbradd2783 my 2500HD Duramax lb7 runs excellent and it does have more pulling toque then my 8.1 gas. I like the 3500 for heavy loads
@@jimbradd2783weight of truck matters!
@@jfaulk5717 yes the weight of the truck matters. My 3500 Chevy 8.1 gas is a 4x4 crewcab with a long bed dually weighing in at 8,800lbs it’s a tank. It can handle a heavy load better and safer , I feel more relaxed and safe having 6 tires on the pavement to hold the load. And it has the 4.10 rear end gears and the smaller 235 - 75 R - 16 tires help with the pulling toque compared my 2500 Duramax that is a 4x4 Excab shorter 6.5ft bed and 3.73 read end gear and the taller 265-75- 16 tires. The 2001 Chevy Duramax came out with the 245-75-16 tires but for the better looks we put the taller 265-75-16’s which will cause it to loose a little on the power ( toque) taking off. My Duramax does have a K&N cold air breather which helps, I am going to put a K&N cold air breather on my 3500 8.1 also which will help in horse power and fuel mileage. I like both of my trucks. My 2001 2500 Duramax has only 105,000 miles on it and is a very nice clean sharp truck black in color and has been garage kept. Whereas my 2004 3500 8.1 gas has 265,000 miles on it which still runs super great a lot of those mile were put on it driving the interstate highway , last year I replaced all the parts to the front end that needed it and put 4 new heavy duty shocks on it, and new tires. So it drives and handles like a new truck.
U
These new high-end silverados are very nice looking
So the question is, if your choice is gas or Diesel, what are you choosing for towing a 16K RV?
That looked SU-LOW😂 screaming to get passed by everything lol. At least you stay positive 😂.
It’s a gasser; of course it’s slow.
Who cares , it does the same on the flat ground that oil burners do...slower up hill doesn't matter one bit.
Exactly
Awesome review
You never said if this was the 2500hd or 3500hd????
3500, can tell from the overload leaf springs
I have a 2024 3500. needed a transmission off the lot. second all new trans has the same wine like the first. and putting it into parkand drive still have a loud pin engagement. Does anyone else have a wine from the transmission that is permeate. not just when cold but always
Great video, but two things, you called your gooseneck a fifth wheel, those things are different, the other thing is you stated that the transmission in the diesel did better with engine braking. The engine is the difference here, not the transmission, the engine compression to be more precise, modern diesel engines are somewhere around a 16:1 compression ratio, the gas motor is gonna be some where between 9 and 10:1 compression ratio meaning the diesel will be harder to spin over, also the exhaust brake also helps with that engine braking.
Do you follow manufacturer recommended break in procedure before towing?
Hey pal I like your videos thank you for doing that
But I have something to tell you wish is for your safety and the safety of the people the watch your videos thinking it's ok can you use your seatbelt correctly
(I know you used it correctly at end) because that will save your live the way you are using it it's not going to help you in any ways
And I want to say I am sorry for telling you that but I want to be honest please don't get mad at me again I like your videos
Oh and that transmission temperature that's why GM transmission lately don't last
Finally Chevrolet changed the headlights i love that truck
Hill Decent control comes on z71 pkg Chevrrolet or x31 pkg on GMC on gas engine should have on High Country. Thanks for video helpful stuff.
The exhaust brake on a diesel is worth every Penny, if you tow everyday.
not on a duramax, got one barely can tell it. my cummins well that is a different story it brakes
@@Hunterworks just got a 24 dmax myself. Big difference compared to the ram. Like you said, can't even tell
How do you do on tight turns while backing with the goosebox and standard bed? Thanks
should do the same pull with the ford 7.3 godzilla i think would pull the hill a lot faster
Does the dash have the option to show what gear transmission is in like the Ram or Ford does?
Nope, the GM does not. No oil temp or coolant temp in actual deg just a cold to hot type bar gauge for the coolant. GM is behind Ford and RAM on the info center for sure.
As soon as Banks releases the a pillar mount for the 2024’s i will be putting an iDash in my Denali 3500 so i can see all that’s info in real time.
Hello what tire sensors did you have on camper to link with truck thanks
Hey JB you stick by the 1 yr old video that gm is behind the other gas hd trucks ? Looking at upgrading my Titan to a at4 gmc 2500 6.6 gas’s loaded to upgrade bumper pull camper and boat. Titan tows over its recommended weight fine and pulls what I have now a 24 deck boat and 26rll alpha wolf trailer but wanting to get a bigger triple slide bumper pull or destination trailer and a 26ft closed cab stabi craft boat
Well shaped trailer front but still a big area.
They really need to display what gear your in.
Does this truck have the Descent Control feature as on previous HD Gassers?
What axle ratio is the truck equipped with ?
Is there a transmission cooler you can use to help with the temp?
When did they change a standard bed for 8’ to 6’ bed that’s crazy Iam 68 yrs and the standard bed has always bee 8 foot matter of fact when I first started driving that’s the only bed you could buy .
How are the seats on this years?
Literally will never tow faster than 70... 65 is my usually ceiling of max and only hit 70 when NO ONE is around and I REALLY have to pee lol
I tow at 70 with my ‘22 6.6 gasser towing my 5th wheel.
What is the trailer specs? Did I miss it in the video?
Gm needs larger fuel tanks especially in their gaser.
Gm also wont let you know when your in regen. Drives me nuts
Hey JB, did you have the descent control on as well!?!?
I don't know chevy don't come back with the 8.1 ?
How do u connect your RVs tpms sensors to it ?
Have you noticed high engine oil consumption
Why did you slow down to 45 before the hill 🙈
As fast as that Chevy would go 😂
I was wondering the same. I think it would've maintained a higher speed if he didn't slow down before the steep section. I figured he just wanted to see if it could dig itself back out of the hole.
@@freedomisntfree_44 you’re an idiot. he coasted to slow down to 45 at the base of the grade and then went right when the grade started.
A lot of drivetrain info is useful, such as what gear it’s in, but why is boost pressure necessary?
The relocation of the ball hitch in the bed completely changed the way trailers back up. I thought I was an idiot struggling with the mirrors, but I figured out it's the way the hitch of the gooseneck moves in relation to the truck. It's horrible compared to older trucks. I hate it. Not a fan of the mirrors, with the ridiculously large convex mirrors that are useless for anything other than blindspot identification. The mirrors on today's trucks are trying to correct the fact that most people just can't use mirrors, and they suck for people that can. It goes right along with the dumbing down of everything, so we can try to make functional idiots productive.
I've never used a 5th wheel and only know about them academically- I've only towed gooseneck and bumper pull. Is your trailer here a 5th wheel but converted to a gooseneck coupler? I thought 5th wheels are a giant bracket that mounts to the bed.
Yes he put a reese goosebox on his camper.
JB's is converted to a gooseneck coupler but it is common to still refer to the style of RV as a "fifth wheel".
@@supporterofsanity ah ok, thanks for explaining
Yup it's a goose box. I got the GEN Y goose box for my camper so I didn't have to deal with the 5th wheel king pin. I like using my full bed and knowing that a goose neck is absolutely locked on is comforting. I've seen people pull off thinking the King pin locked and smashing their bed on their nice beer new truck.
18:20 what’s that moving?
What's sad is that I have an 01 2500HD and it has the 6.0 in it and my MPG is 12 no matter what I'm towing. That 5.2-6.8mpg you are getting would kill me.
Your 6.0 gasser won't see anywhere near 12 pulling this load up this grade. Not in your wildest dreams
@@jfmjr1970 we hauled a 38' Royal Choachman 5th wheel from Olatha Co to near Bolivar Mo. Got 12mpg the whole way. Even empty my truck only get's 12mpg. I wouldn't say it if I hadn't already done it.
@daniellyon7904 You do realize how ludicrous that sounds right?
You using that common core math shit lol
@@daniellyon7904With you asleep and dreaming in the back seat!
Need a diesel if you do that towing on a regular basis.
I have a 2015 HD 2500. Crew Cab 4x4 LT with the 6.0 It has 300K miles on it. After three hundred thousand miles.. I would not buy another one.
