Wow Eric lots of solar power going. All those holes scare me. I haven't been brave enough to drll into my fiberglass roof. I attached 1 panel to the luggage rack. 1panel liquid nails wood 1x2 to the roof. Fingers crossed that it stays on. I'm really impressed with all your doing. Blessings always
When we had the Gulfstream, we had not just mice, but a rat got in. At least the rat took care of the mice. We finally stopped getting them when we took out the plastic wrap around enclosure around the seats and searched every inch of the RV. We found holes in firewall for the wire harness so big that we were lucky coyotes hadn't gotten in. We found a hole in the floor under the bedroom drawers for hoses and utility wires that were way too big and left huge gaps. We stuffed steel wool into the holes and foamed it in place. No more vermin problems. I think the area under the slide might have been a problem if we had not scrupulously kept anything that could be climbed away from the bottom.
With those cables hanging out the window, disconnect them and pass them through a large metal or maybe plastic funnel with the small end pointed up and tape the small end around the cables. This will act as a shield to prevent pack rats and other small critters from cimbing up the cables to get in and won't catch and hold rain. If you cant find a large enough funnel, you could make a sheet metal shield to do the same.
Ford V10 Triton Engine Problems One of the main faults with the early V10 engines (1999 - 2005) was that the spark plugs could blow out of the cylinder head.
Hey Eric, try dryer sheets from Downy for pets . You literally just dust the hair off your shirt. I love them because i'm not giving up my babies. Its what we sign up for when we have pets.❤
Opie is a good boy! I had my cat, Ezra, along with me on my Quartzsite trip for January and luckily I did not have any issues with mice or packrats. I did not even put out the lights under the chassis at night. Several friends told me it was probably the scent of my cat?? Who knows? Lol The solar is coming along nicely. I had a lot of power talks for my Thor Gemini with more experienced folks than myself. I have a plan figured out to be off grid a lot longer at a time without the generator. How great is it to have friends to jump in with advice and help when we need it!
The packrats are a terrible menace here in the deserts and cause so much damage…expensive damage! Glad your good boy Opie had his way with it and took care of the problem. We don’t like to kill anything..we have relocated squirrels, snakes and other critters but sadly, the only defense against the pac rat is to do away with them. We have had them eat a $500 wiring harness, spark plug wires, tear up insulation. They pee and poo on EVERYTHING they walk across so if you don’t cover your upholstery you have a toxic mess there too. Glad your boy got it Eric! Everything else is looking really good. You should be set for power now. 👍👍
We learned when dealing with these pests that the can smell human presents when setting traps. Our traps just didn’t work until my husband set them wearing gloves!!! The first night after doing this we caught that monster! He chewed a hole in the dishwasher water line so there was a water leak ruining flooring and cabinets not to mention dishwasher! As a result we put in a new kitchen!! I know!!! Packing up the kitchen I found out why there was so much damage……he ate through my k cups…..I had so many stored and the backs were eaten!,!
I'm sure I've heard another nomad say once they're stationary they get out the peppermint spray and spray the wheels and undercarriage. And peppermint cotton balls in the engine hood. Apparently snakes, mice etc can't stand the smell.
GOOD BOY OPIE!! The last mouse Max caught can’t up through the gas/brake petal area which is right next to his liter box. That little guy didn’t make it 2 inches before Max killed it. The first mouse Max caught on my kitchen counter 🤢. He stalked him for days. And… then he brought it to bed!!!! 😳.
@@mkvampire88 very happy with a playpen outside from our room best of all they are all related to each other from my daughters cat that was not fixed right away. Mine are all fixed. 👍💞
Very Educational. It's nice to follow Eric as he does a walk around a motorhome. I like that his experience with these things can help alot. Better than most review vids.
I can't wait to see you on the road again, especially with all of your projects completed. However, I can be as patient as your being waiting for Bigfoot to be all you want it to be. 👍
Nice catch Opie!!! Yay! That is how my little Lily is...a really good mouser. Nothing since being here, but then I'd never know. She eats her catch completely! 🤢 If your slide is on the kitchen side look where the hoses and pipes go under to the basement. Huge opening there to allow the hoses to move with wall going in and out. Can't see it under the sink. There's an extra wall to make all workings out of sight. I met the nice lady who bought the Tioga. I told her how how very happy I am for her. Nice rig Eric. She'll just love it! Another fire here yesterday. Please clean out furnaces and fridge vents fellow RVers! 3rd one this winter. Gosh it's so heartbreaking to witness. Hard falling asleep wondering if that person(s) had a place to sleep too. 😢 Solar looks fantastic Wayne!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉
i have found that using ultrasound high frequencies found on youtube at high volume over some powerful speakers will run off most rodents very very quickly. but it must have enough volume / power behind it to be really uncomfortable for them. so a tiny ultrasound device powered by small batteries will not cut it. however an audio system built into a vehicle should have sufficient wattage / amplitude / volume to be effective.
Nasty nascar wreck tonight as you already probably know....That wall hit was scary...reminded me of Dale Earnhardt Sr. wreck...Glad all were okay but sure messed up a few cars....
I was hoping the title was in reference to the rat! PS- thats such a small rat you should see the fruit rats I used to catch and my cats too in Northern California. HUGE, like 5 times bigger that that at least 😂 once my cat caught 2 in one nite in backyard. Sweet Bigfoot, looks like a decent deal depending on mechanical
A friend taught me this who lives in a very rural area. When you need to take a piss go into one of your empty water jugs. Then take it outside and go around the perimeter of your camp pouring just a little bit of your urine all the way around. I’ve tried it and it seems to work. It’s basically a human marking your territory.
Good Boy Opie ! Yes. My long haired white Turkish Angora cat had hair all over my house. Had to change just before I left the house when I wore black pants anywhere. But it was worth to have him with me those 15 years. I miss my Dandy.
my hubby and i got a giggle that opie saved the day. we got excited when you went to the post office, and are hoping you got the oven mitt that is cat themed?
That is a Deer mouse. Pack rats can be up to 1lb in size, have a more furry tail, and are rats. Glad good boy Opie took care of it!. Deer mice are a main spreader of Hantavirus.
I use poison for rodents but I also spray the area around my site with coyote urine. As a result of the urine, I have never had rodent issues. At my home base I have black (rat) snakes that keep rodents at bay.
Human babies slobber and spit up on clothes. Kittys leave theor hair . SO WHAT😮 Eric, you softned the blow, lil pack rat 'sleepin' on your step😅😂😊way to go Opie❤❤❤

Blindview and #1 fan are so funny! I can't stop laughing!

When i first saw "Gulfstream" i pictured a jet..and i went dang no way!!

Hay Eric, you can take your little pack rat take him to a taxidermist then add him to your Mickey Mouse collection.😅😅😅😅
Lol
So much work done to an RV you don't even legally own yet. Get that paper work done.

Only problem with that Bigfoot is that it’s a gay Bigfoot. Had the flag flyin there at the corner. Oh how stunning and brave they must be.

Opie is awesome for catching that rodent!! Solar is looking good!
We use Fresh Cab in our RV. Helps alot with little field mice. They may come in but they don't stay.

The 2001 Bigfoot has no slides!
Good boy, Opie! He is so stinkin cute! I love how he rolls around, scratching his back! And that he likes his tummy rubbed!
That Bigfoot didnt have a slide.

Peppermint oil is great all around. Cedar oil great aswell
I wish I could join your Big Foot Club, but my age forbids me, I’m glad someone is going to get a 4 season unit!
It's an honor to have pet hair on your clothes. 🐈🐈⬛

Nice to get rid of the noisy pest.
Is there a reason why you don't spend a winter in south Texas?
I have 3 big male cats have no problem with critters they take care of it😂👍
Just noticed the "Jax Angel". Beautiful.
No outfit is complete without cat hair 😂 ~Tara

The hair on your shirt just shows that they're pets that are loved and not just pets.
Thanks Eric
Great video thank you!
When you need to put wire thru your window slice a pool noodle over the edge as you roll the window up. Keeps critters out and AC in.
Hey Eric way to go on the pack rat as well as solar I love the kitties
Sounds like you got a Nascar Pack Rat circling the inside of your rv!😂😂😂 Mark the RV Tech in LTVA South
Sorry about the crack in the windshield!
Oklahoma is here
OPIE needs a good brushing as a reward !
I prefer yours with a slide, that one doesn’t look like it has a slide, it’s nice looking but I think you made the correct choice
Glad the cats handled their business 😊
Is this the first announcement you have made that Byron is the new driver you’re rooting for?
I was hoping the title was in reference to the rat!

No Slide on that Big Foot Either.
Why to go Opie! It will be nice for you when your solor is done. Now you can really move on to the next. Have fun at the race
NICE CLEETUS SHIRT HELL YEAH BROTHER LET'S GO 👌

You should sell pre cat furred shirts for a premium
There was not a slide out on that Bigfoot
Right on Opie, get her done.
Why William Byron? The cats are beautiful! so glad they got rid of the pesty packrat!
You need your recommended daily allowance of kitty fur!! Otherwise you would go into withdrawal. It's not pretty!!!😹
I'm sad man. My cousin died this morning

Clean your rv and you won't have rodent problems
Even the cleanest places can have issues with rodents. Geez 🤦🏻♀️
Opie is awesome; Tara is beautiful.

Good boy. Opie!!
That is a Deer mouse. Pack rats can be up to 1lb in size, have a more furry tail, and are rats. Glad good boy Opie took care of it!. Deer mice are a main spreader of Hantavirus.
Are you changing your mind on getting a couple of ferral cats for tater land
Hopefully this summer you do something different than racing and Disney. Try Main, Vermont, Wisconsin dells, Michigan U.P. ect...
3rd , yea
Pack rats scare me. Heard too many stories from family in Tuscon and ruined cars, ac, grills and so on. $10,000s of damage, argh.
Eric, when are you going to take us to Alaska? 😊
Tatertot rules!!!
So glad opie took care of your problem….extra treats for ople, and his sis so she won’t be jealous
How much for the pull behind camper
It’s not cat hair it’s cat glitter 🐈
I use poison for rodents but I also spray the area around my site with coyote urine. As a result of the urine, I have never had rodent issues. At my home base I have black (rat) snakes that keep rodents at bay.
Is the dish network cable going to be whipping in the wind.
Opiedopes to the rescue!
Good Boy Opie!
This evening at Daytona, my #5 Kyle Larson is going to out do your new fav' NASCAR guy.

Human babies slobber and spit up on clothes. Kittys leave theor hair . SO WHAT😮
Eric, you softned the blow, lil pack rat 'sleepin' on your step😅😂😊way to go Opie❤❤❤
I should've listened to you and skipped ahead. I chose a bad time to eat and watch.
Really clean applications all around…
Heck yeah man the dues are tonight
Your packrat sounds like a cousin to the raccoon I had in my attic. He was a damned destructive bugger.
Hey Eric, great video. I’m in Arizona for winter from Alaska and keep hearing about pacrats, now I know what they are and look like.
It’s all happening!
Get more cat hair on your shirt 😺
💜💜💜tfs💜💜💜
Here I thought he got cats for companionship
