Jeffrey Osborne was the MAN in 80s R&B. He had numerous crossover hits that got airplay on Top 40 radio, including "On the Wings of Love", "The Last Time I Made Love" (with Joyce Kennedy), "You Should Be Mine (The Woo Woo Song)", "Love Power" (with Dionne Warwick), and "She's on the Left". Other singers in the same lane that you should check out include Luther Vandross, Peabo Bryson, George Benson, and Billy Ocean.

Jeffrey Osborne was the former lead singer of the soul/funk group L.T.D. (70s & 80s) Listen to "Back In Love Again" and "We Party Hearty", great dancefloor fillers! "Shine On" is a beautiful ballad of them... Big fan of his voice! If you like this, than take a listen to Teddy Pendergrass - "The Love I Lost" (with Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes), James Ingram - "Just Once" and "One Hundred Ways" (with Quincy Jones), Dennis Edwards - "Don't Look Any Further", The O'Jays - "Use Ta Be My Girl" among many others.... all great soulful and powerful voices!
This is one of my favorite songs EVER! I heard it first in an aerobics class with my wife and you have no idea how much I wanted to be able to move like our instructor!!! The guy on keyboards in this video is George Duke, who has his own albums. They're mostly jazz, some mixed with funk/R&B & Latin sounds. George played on and/or produced a lot of other artists songs too.
Some other artists who are similar to Jeffrey Osborne also from the late 80's are Keith Sweat, Terrance Trent D'arby, Al B. Sure, and Aaron Neville (incredible voice). You guys are one of the highlights of my day. I literally can't wait until I get home to see what songs you're reacting to.

I did a video in Cincinnati for a black-tie 60th birthday party or one of the members of the Black Millionaires Club, and Jeffrey Osborne was the headliner. This song was updated and had the house dancing. He was such a joy to watch, full of charisma, and could sing without effort. This song has been in my head since then, especially hearing that slap bass live.

By the way, in that video, the guy is not playing the guitar on the actual studio recording, it is played by Brian May, the guitarist for the band "Queen".
