I was planning to do a video soon (actually two videos) of all the dry, frozen and live food that I feed my fish. But mostly I use Sera, Fluval, Dr. Bassleer, Hikari...
Thank you for all the extra work you do to share these beautiful videos with us! Such a tiny magical world! You have the most beautiful chilies and I love Mr. ice cube! Although now you’ve made me nervous. I hope That he will be OK. But if it is his time to go I know that you gave him the best life that a fish could have!❤
Please get more otocinclus!!! They're a social fish that needs a group of their own species to be healthy. If it's not possible to add more fish to the tank you can always return this one to the store or move it to a bigger tank, and get some snails to eat algae. I love the tank though!!!
Unfortunately I don't have a shop near me. The closest one is 450kms away and that was one of the reasons why I opened my own fish online store. I am aware that Otocinclus like to be in big school but unfortunately I can't get any more of them now.
In a recent George Farmer video, Tai Strietman (Biotopia) told of a guy who did not boil his botanicals, but put them in a bucket of RO-water. When they sunk, he would add them to his aquarium. This way, the tanins would be reserved for the aquarium.
Best wishes for 2024! Good to see all fish are doing well. I will definately set up a black water Betta tank at some point. My baby Pygmy in its little container seems to be doing well in the slowly rising waterlevels. It's nowhere near aquarium depth, though, so I am taking it easy.
I'm super impressed health of all the fish in this tank! Man those chilis are looking good! Would you say this betta is your favourite fish? He's an absolute stunner! My next betta will be an alien, my boy is getting old and rough now.
Hey Mr. Viral. Yeah he is cool but I think I would enjoy him more if he was 100% healthy. Ever since that heather incident last year his swimming is not really what it is supposed to be and I hate seeing him like that. Things got worse in the last couple of days ( I will show it in the next video). He lived almost one full year after he almost froze and I gave him 0 chances to recover. PS There can be only one No. 1....Mr. Bulldog.
@@IMaqua "Mr. Viral" 😂It's a nice start! You were right again though which had me laughing again today. Heaters failing is the worst thing, I have been researching Sulawesi shrimp and heater failiures seem to be their biggest killers too. I am tempted to run a backup heater in my reef tank just in case to be honest. An inline one and maybe a canister filter with a built in one. Just set it to 0.5c lower so it doesn't kick in and waste power when not needed. He done really well to make it through almost freezing I don't even know how well I would go with that!
I just know haha. Now I just need to apply that to my channel. That is not easy. Heather problem can be avoided easily. Instead of buying 50W heather you buy two 25W heathers. If one malfunctions you still have one. I doubt you could have them both malfunction at the same time. But the issue is spending a fortune on heathers and having 100 meters of cables extra. This method is applicable for example if you want only one tank like in your case Sulawesi shrimp. There you go... problem solved.
@@IMaqua I had never thought about that as a solution! My biggest problem with heaters is how damn short they always make the cables! They need to be twice as long!
Oooo how many hours I spent cursing in my own fish room because I am missing 10cms of cable and instead I need to add another extension cord. They make them only 120cms or 150cms.
Love your aquariums as always. Are you doing another nano scape anytime soon? I keep three tanks (5g, 2.5g, 10g) for neo breeding but I'm a student, so I can't have anything bigger than 10gal. I'm due for a rescape soon and need some inspiration 😅

Wow! The Chilli Rasbora's colors are SOOO vivid! I need to get some!!!!
Usually they are always very colorless when you get them and as they age they get beautiful chili red color.
@@IMaqua Really!! That’s good to know! What brand of food do you usually use? I’ve had my first tank for almost a year. So, I’m still learning. 😅😅😅

@@SwyTashee I like it. I used their flake food and mini pellets with garlic.
Now, that is the perfect way to keep a betta.
Fully agree. It is fully shaded with all the floating plants and it really looks so wild and natural.
@@IMaqua yes. And I mean tank size, not too bright, calm tank mates.
Yeah it's a perfect size for a little community aquarium. I had some Gold Laser Corydoras here but I removed them and I am trying to breed them now.
Colors of fish are so vivid ❤.
Chili red...
Niceee.. Love the Chili rasboras 🤩
Thanks. They are so chili red colorful.

What were the botanicals you added at 04:07 ? I've seen people mention not to add pine cones, have you heard this before?
I’m not sure, but I think somewhere he said that these are alder cones
You are correct Jen. They are alder cones. If you want to add botanical they need to be dry.

I didn't either, so I will try this when the time comes (and I have a RO-system). 👍

Actually nano scapes are all that I have left. Yes a new build will come in a week (or two) and then another one in February.
@@IMaquaMy birthday is in February, can it be a tank for my birthday?
I don't know the exact day yet. It can be for your birthday but on a different day haha
Great look, can you please tell us what the floating plants are, especially those with the long roots
All the plant names are in the video description. Floating plant with long roots is Amazon frogbit.
Thanks, I didn't find it in the description ("Echinodorus Harbich, Anubias barteri var. nana "Mini", Bucephalandra "Kedagang", Cryptocoryne lutea "Hobbit", Cryptocoryne crispatula, Cryptocoryne undulatus "Red", Cryptocoryne lutea, Egeria densa")@@IMaqua
