This is so odd that this comes up for me just now...... I got a betta maybe two weeks ago that was basically transparent, clear and silvery. He was young, but sluggish. After two weeks in my planted five gallon, which he has all to himself, he turned a deep, opaque black and is now vigorous and curious. I was going to post on my socials about how these fish were never meant to live in cups. I saw something come up on my socials where someone was saying that exact thing, and I was glad. And now I see this! I hope people will realize these fish are so much more rewarding to have when you give them the freedom to move and ripple and be happy.
I agree with you they need a good size aquarium like any other fish, and actually I got an extremely rare pure purple halfmoon male betta from Petco yesterday I always feel sad when i see betta fish in small cups I have mine in a fully aqua-scaped 30 gallon aquarium that resembles it's natural habit my beautiful betta loves it and soon I will add some shrimp to his aquarium. For any beginners out there betta fish need a good water heater set it to 78F - 80F they don't tolerate the cold very well along with a good aquarium filtration system but to remember select the filter flow to a lowest flow you can put it before you add it to your aquarium betta fish do not like strong filter flow, always remember this rule of thumb beginners that 1 inch of fish for every gallon of water this applies to every fish out there big or small so larger the fish the bigger the aquarium is needed. I will say this that the first 24 hours for a fish in new a aquarium is the hardest for them because they have to adjust to their new environment it gets better for them as the days progress they feel more at home but keep a close eye out on there movement and overall health you will do fine.
A beautiful tank for a very lucky fish!!! I have a very big 290litre for my bettas. One side is fast flowing and other side is still and I have one betta who loves swimming against the current. He has many areas to go but I always find him "fighting" the current. He loves it!
The whole process is very well thought out. I currently have tillandsias in my terrarium, but I am planning to start a plant terrarium. Thank you. It doesn't need a filter because the plant just does it. Only oxygen is added to the water.
Very nice and Zen! A couple of years ago I had a Betta in a 5-gallon tank planted with nice rocks and wood. At one point he became blind but I could still feed him as he would smell the food. They are so beautiful!
This is gorgeous! Billy is so lucky to have such a beautiful home! And I love that little underwater light. It adds such a nice touch of depth and mystery. Thank you for sharing another stunningly beautiful video with us!
What a dreamlike tank! 🥰😍Billy is a lucky cookie, thank you for taking such great care of Bettas! It breaks my heart when I see how they are treated by most people.
The best Brtta Tank that I have seen so far on RUclips, not only is it beautiful but also, look at the dimensions of that Tank! Everything you see on this channel has such a high level, it is so superior to everything else ...I will never get tired of saying it, it is the undisputed number one. (eeehhh... I'm going to try to copy that tank ☝️😅 🙈)
Like all of your work is this inspired and beautiful. As Betta lover this will be my new favorite. My Intention as a animal /pet companion is we should give our best, be generous and reflecting about egoism, ethical and species-appropriate.
This is a stunning set up and such an awesome home for the betta. Unfortunately some people buy the ridiculous tiny tanks which is why manufacturers keep making them. People should boycott these awful producers of these totally unsuitable so called aquariums. Again great video.
Beautiful tank, I noticed many on RUclips build tank for betta fish. I have 1 male and 2 females live together with around 40 fishs 4-5 types of them. All happy and no problem.
Que lindo ! Se eu fosse um Betta iria desejar uma casa assim …não entendo muito disso , por isso também queria saber onde está o filtro ? Como vc cuida dos parâmetros dessa água e a alimentação dele. Por favor.
love it. i would add some snails and or shrimp for enrichment with that water volume. they way u structured the hard scape i think most bettas would thrive in that tank. plenty of places near the top long finned can rest.
Awesome tank! If it was mine I would add some tank mates for that lovely Betta: 5 or 6 Corydoras, some Otocinclus Affinis and a bunch of Nerite Zebra Snails.
Nice video I really enyoed it😊. But you should had bought a betta fish with small fins like the plakat betta for this tank, because it is to big for the half moon especially it is too high, betta fish prefer shallow tanks, because they need to swim to the surface. I had this problem with my betta, as he become older his fins become longer and therefore he must carry more weight with him. And at some point it will be too much for him and he will find a spot near the surface, where he will lay down and not move so much, it is really hard to watch.
lovely set-up. My bat sits in a 15 gallon tank. Indeed that diffuser is the best, but like some other Tropica products is a rebranding of an ISTA Taiwan product. Don't get me wrong i'm not bashing on Tropica, actually I am a big fan. Their ferts are doing wonders in my planted tanks.
All of your aquariums are amazing!! I am planning on getting a betta fish after I have prepped my aquarium. Have you or anyone that may be reading my comment had any issues with them jumping out of the tank?
Thank you, this was a beautiful video! I do have a question though -- I noticed the tank water was initially turbid when you added the water attributed to the substrate. Did you add any flocculating agent to help clear out the turbidity? Multiple wayer changes or used a filter, maybe? Or did you just let the debris from the substrate settle over a period if time?
Beautiful set up as always❤. But a little deep for a heavy finned betta. As they age they won't be able to swim with the heavy fins. From experience, when of my boys got to his 4 yr mark he was basically on a stump of wood always and slept on it. And i spot fed him. Later reduced the water level by almost half. It was a 30cm cube only.
The extra water volume is still good for them even if they cant explore it all. I do know what you mean though, i got a big rose tail for free and he gets tired out easily it seems once his tail regrew (he had bad fin rot when i got him) despite still seeming alert and aware of the world. He still makes it down to the bottom sometimes though. Billy probably enjoys their home a lot, they are lucky fish in the scheme of things
Beautiful tank, Billy's lucky to have such a talented soul to tend to him. I've had fish many years, I just got my 1st betta, he's in a 3.5 gallon. It's planted nicely. Where did you get your aquarium from? I really found your video very peaceful. Thanks, I'll be back for more! ❤
Looks gorgeous! I was thinking about putting together a 5 gallon tank and getting a betta fish. But after watching this video, any betta fish I get would suffer greatly. Would be fair to the betta fish to live in a much deprived environment? Will rethink getting a betta.
Well yes, there's many beautiful aquatic plant's here and the Betta has a safe healthy home. Through I have 2 small issues with this video ? 1) Bettas don't have to live alone. They are some other suitable fish and other life which can live with them, various aquatic snails, shrimp etc ? 2) Low maintenance plants used but extra CO is needed ? Another concern, with no lid and water level so high aren't bettas known to jump ?
Bettas and Tank Mates: Bettas don't always have to live alone; they can coexist with peaceful fish like Neon Tetras, Corydoras, and various snails and shrimp. Monitor interactions to prevent aggression. Low Maintenance Plants and CO2: Low maintenance plants like Java Fern and Anubias typically don't need extra CO2 but can benefit from it. Evaluate plant health to decide on CO2 use. Betta Jumping Risk: Bettas are known to jump, so use a lid or lower the water level to reduce this risk. Ensuring a secure environment can help prevent jumping.

Life is interesting. I completely agree with you!
not meant to live in cups or tanks without plants...its our responsibility to keep them in natural habitat as possible...
Totally agree
Seeing neglected fish change into their true colour is one of the best things imo
Instead you keep them in an Aquascape ( not a biotope ) where they are supposed to live out their very brief and completely solitary life.
YES! Bettas don't belong in a cup! This is a beautiful home 😃
I believe this may be my favorite tank design. Billy is blessed to have you as his parent. Thanks for your work and designs.
Thank you mate!
Parent ???
Beautiful! A very fortunate Betta and wishing Billy a long and happy life!

This was so soothing and therapeutic to watch. Love the background music!
Beautiful tank! You're the absolute master of lighting as well.
All your shots are very cosy.
Thanks mate🙌
great work! This is what a Betta tank should look like 💯☝👍
Thanks mate! 🙌

If you would rather torture an animal in a pasta pot, then definitely no@@Peterthegreat1234
You've given me the inspiration to believe in my aquascaping abilities! I love all your tanks, especially the ones for betta's 🥰
Beautiful tank! And thank you for helping to spread the message that bettas need space and shouldn’t be kept in cups, vases or bowls.
🙏🙌
J'adore l'ambiance… bravo

I love it! I love the aesthetic aspect and how you treat your betta. I keep mine in a 23 gallon aquarium (60x40x40) and he loves it too.
What a beautiful home for Billy! Love it!
Just an awesome tank, and doable for anyone (you can just do it in a bit of a smaller scale), very well done, as always, my man.
Love the setup! whenever I feel stressed I watch your video. Now I am working on my own setup! I am totally beginner but I am figuring out day by day.
Another masterpiece! Thank you for all the effort you put into the setups and videos. It's greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
Always a treat my Aquarium friend. Hope the New Year finds you much bliss, and you have temped me to get another Betta 😄Thanks!
You're a good man giving that fish a proper home. Hate seeing Bettas in cups..👍
Wow! You are awesome... It always feel so peace of mind to watch you create nature in an aquarium with such beautiful designs.
You are an amazing artist, thank you for showing that fish need a good place and they will be just fine. Greetings from Argentina
This is awesome, I love the driftwood the simplicity and the lighting as well. I would be a very happy betta to live in that tank :)
Thanks! :)

Beautiful as always ❤... Your videos have inspired us to make a planted tank. Still on the trial and errors but we are loving it. Thank you !
Thanks mate🙏🙌
The fact that you don’t even use tweezers to plant - you must be a master of some kind 😮
Happy litlle betta swimming in the tank 😊 Beautiful setup and most of all - an important note on the tank sizeat the beginning of the video!
Charming Betta fish aquascape 👍🏻
🙏🙌
To me this is the perfect tank
Beautifully done! That's one spoiled betta to have such a tank all to himself. You could add a few, small dither fish as well.
At this point, I have a tend to built a small fish tank for betta. And i see this video. Thank you

Que lindo !

I love the aquarium stand.
Your videos are downright profound

Try Askoll CO2 diffuser, it is very good!
This movie is a trip!

beautyful video
Que belo trabalho!
Awesome tank!
If it was mine I would add some tank mates for that lovely Betta: 5 or 6 Corydoras, some Otocinclus Affinis and a bunch of Nerite Zebra Snails.
I would think some tetras would work well too here.
Yes, some of those Asian Corydoras !
Love This Tank~!!! I Love it!!!!! lovely betta looks good in 50cube tank
Thank you!
Billy is very lucky 🍀 😊😊😊

Looks nothing like it.

I think this setup would also be perfect for corydoras and danios.
really nice!
Absolutely love your video! This aquarium came out fabulous! Can’t wait to see your other videos and aquariums. Subbed.
Thanks 🥰
How often would you clean out this tank?
so beautiful!
Amazing as always!!
Thanks!
Fantastic video
Do the submersible lights provide any assistance for plants? Or just pretty😊
just a decorative light :)
Nice tank! Billy could do with some tank mates
Very nice!
What type of filter is that?? I'm struggling to find one that isn't to strong on water movement, I have a 75 gallon im preparing for a betta.
Fluval FX2.
I decreased the flow.
Espectacular
